Management interface is cool and offers good features like dead-lettering (DLXs) and more
I like many features in RabbitMQ. Number one, reliability for the messages is key. RabbitMQ ensures your messages are safe. They are not deleted and stuff. Number two, they have a very good feature called Retrying messages – it's all about retries. You can easily retry a message through RabbitMQ. So, if processing fails, you can push the message back into RabbitMQ. Maybe you can re-consume it and so on. They also have features like tags, which we call "dead-lettering (DLXs)." If it's approved, it means the messages have been delivered. If it's false or missing the first time you get it, you can make decisions based on that. The feature assigned to code for it is called the dead-letter queue. Moreover, the management interface is so cool. It's simple. It's able to give us an overview of the messages that have been consumed, pending messages, messages that have been delivered, messages that have been acknowledged, and so on. We can also extend that management to tools like... we can extend the management through, like, Kibana or Grafana

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"EDB Postgres Enterprise Manager helps us to build custom files."
"The solution is stable."
"RabbitMQ provides access to SDKs for development and the ability to raise and log tickets if we encounter issues. We can integrate RabbitMQ using various languages like Java or Python using the provided SDKs."
"It's one of the fastest databases in the market. It's easy to use. From a maintenance perspective it's a good product. The segmentation, or architecture of the product is different than other databases such as Oracle. So even in 10 years, the data distribution for such segments will not affect other segments. The query performance of the product, for complex queries, is very good. It has good integration with Hadoop."
"The product has been stable and I have never faced any kind of problems with it."
"It's super easy to deploy and it also supports different languages and analytics."
"Pivotal Greenplum's shared-nothing architecture."
"Companies can scale the solution, so long as they have server room."
"RabbitMQ will help to remove a lot of the complexities and create a loosely coupled codebase."

Cons

"The tool needs improvement in pricing and support."
"One of the disadvantages, not a disadvantage with the product itself, but overall, is the expertise in the marketplace. It's not easy to find a Greenplum administrator in the market, compared to other products such as Oracle."
"We would like to see Greenplum maintain a closer relationship with and parity to features implemented in PostgreSQL."
"They should improve on the ability to scale your queues in a very simple and elegant way with the same power that they have would be great."
"Their implementation is quite tricky. It's not that easy to implement RabbitMQ as a cluster."
"They should add more analytics. Their documentation could also be improved so that I don't have to bother my co-workers and tech support so often."
"they need to interact more with customers. They need to explain the features, especially when there are new releases of Greenplum. I know just from information I've found that it has other features, it can be used to for analytics, for integration with Big Data, Hadoop. They need to focus on this part with the customer."
"It will be very useful if we could communicate with other database types from Greenplum (using a database link)."
"This solution struggled with multi-regional synchronization."
