"The most valuable feature is its robust infrastructure management tools.""It saves operation time and day-to-day tasks.""It is also a single platform, all in one place, and that is a reason we went for this solution. Earlier, we had multiple platforms, the database and the OS, but this is a single platform that helps us with what we are doing.""Overall, the solution is very good. It's easy to use and simple to handle many actions, such as VM cloning, testing, and prediction.""There are a lot of options for working with the database.""We use the solution to save costs and simplify operations.""The most valuable feature of Nutanix Database Service is the ability to manage multiple vendors.""We have an enterprise-level backup product that we're required to use, so we don't rely on Era's version. [But] it could be an awesome first-line backup. It's very elegant the way they designed it. It's quick and it doesn't take up nearly as much storage space as traditional backups. It would definitely help to save on tier-one storage."

Cons
"The tool needs improvement in pricing and support."

"The updating of the database engine is something that can be improved. For example, assume that we are using PostgreSQL out of the box, and it is version 10. If we want to migrate to version 11, 12, or 13, then it is not very easy to do that using Nutanix Era.""Patch management is an issue as it regularly causes stability problems.""This solution could be improved by integrating with more database providers.""The downside of this solution is that it's more expensive than its competitors.""I would like to see the SQL compatibility enhanced.""The solution should provide more integration with more databases.""The graphical user interfaces could be much more user-friendly. They are already user-friendly, but they could be simpler so that we do not need L3 staff to handle them. If they were simpler, we could also have some command center or L1/L1.5 associates do some housekeeping activities on it.""The solution could improve by providing more support for more vendors."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
  • "The licensed-based pricing is confusing and too high."
  • "Era is quite expensive. The thing that will be a showstopper for them in the long run is if you look at it from a technical perspective on what it provides and weigh it up against consolidation of multiple other software suites."
  • "Licensing costs will be the main scalability problem."
  • "It's priced fairly... It's a good value. When you go looking for something from Oracle that automates things and makes your life easier, it's always going to be a minimum of $500,000. Era's nothing like that."
  • "There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
  • "This solution is reasonably priced."
  • "Not everyone can afford it. It's a bit expensive, so the price has to be improved."
  • "The pricing is competitive."
