Provides server-side and backend application support but needs better interface
The last update made the interface look somewhat unfamiliar to users. Data recovery was technically flawless at some point. However, an update after a merger changed things. The current procedure for data encryption is not as straightforward as before, and we're facing some challenges. Specifically, one user encrypted their data, and since they have left the company, we cannot decrypt it. This has resulted in a loss of access to that data.

Lacks multi-platform support and physical infrastructure but excels in storage optimization
We use it for VM backup and Office 365 backup I find the solution to be user-friendly and easy to manage and deploy. It provides storage for Office 365, which is beneficial, and the deduplication technology is excellent, especially in optimizing storage capacity compared to others. In terms of…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The recovery aspect of the solution is its most valuable feature."
"It has a straightforward installation."
"The initial setup is straightforward."
"The tool has good features. The backup is also accurate."
"It's incredibly fast."
"It is simple to implement and use. It's very flexible."
"We get control over authentication policies and create an agentless backup by generating a token for that."
"All the data is well encrypted. In addition, the data is split into pieces so that if an endpoint is attacked or compromised with any kind of ransomware, the compromised machine can be relocated or restored. All the data that was previously backed up can be restored from the cloud. It has a lot of security features. Druva currently offers only the cloud version on AWS. Being a cloud solution, Druva goes by a lot of security compliances and provides a security portfolio. People are very skeptical of the data security in cloud solutions, and Druva has given consideration to that. It has some good geo-location features. If a machine is lost, when the machine is switched on and connected to the internet, that machine can be geo-located and tracked. It also has got the geo-wipeout feature. If someone tries to take out the data from a lost machine, they won't be able to do that. The moment an IT admin comes to know that the machine is no longer with a user, he or she can auto-run the geo-wipeout feature so that the data cannot be read by any third party. Duality replication is a unique thing about this solution. Everybody's data is not backed up if the data is common. Similar data is not backed up from other machines. The data backup also happens very smoothly. The bandwidth choking is very less. When the data is getting backed up, the users do not even get to know. There is no impact even when the users are not using high-speed bandwidth."
"The most valuable feature of Altaro VM Backup is its ability to backup and restore various types of data, including Active Directory, application servers, and SQL Server databases."
"Ability to restore to any host."
"This solution is stable."
"Hornetsecurity Altaro VM Backup's most valuable features include its user-friendly interface and the ability to perform data compression updates, which enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness."
"The initial setup was simple and easy. Anyone without prior experience can install, configure, and use it."
"Excellent compression and deduplication with off-site WAN backup included."
"Hornetsecurity Altaro VM Backup's most valuable features include its user-friendly interface and the ability to perform data compression updates, which enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness."
"The interface is user-friendly and even if our tech isn't onsite, we can work with the owners to confirm that the data will be restored with no issues."

Cons

"If I could have an accelerator or something to back up the solution on the cloud, that would be helpful. Also, it would be helpful if the accelerator could give me a buffer of a couple of days for any kind of immediate recovery on an offsite."
"I would like to see security improved in the next release."
"The support of other cloud services needs to be improved. It has very good cloud support for AWS but not with others."
"This solution would benefit from the inclusion of an on-premise backup feature, as currently, they are offering everything in the cloud."
"The solution takes a lot of time during restoration."
"To make Druva inSync better, they can implement additional DLP."
"The backup time is very poor. The backup runs continuously. It goes on from morning till night. The system performance also becomes very poor when Druva inSync is running."
"The current procedure for data encryption is not as straightforward"
"The initial set up was complex, and I was not able to do the set up myself."
"Hornetsecurity Altaro VM Backup could be improved in several areas, such as enhancing scalability features and possibly reducing the price."
"Backup speed and comparisons between versions used to be slow on big VMs but that was improved greatly later on."
"The application could include a feature to install a set size of data, such as the ability to store a single application with all its registry information for easy transfer."
"Availability of physical server backup would be an added advantage."
"Improvement areas for Altaro VM Backup include enhancing backup and deduplication solutions for continuous operation and offering an all-in-one solution for hardware backup."
"Stability."
"It would be nice to be able to recover the items to their original location."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is good."
"The price is quite good, It's approximately $4000.00 per user for one year."
"It's approximately $4000.00 per user for one year."
"I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, with one being very cheap and ten being very expensive."
"The pricing of Druva inSync is very high as compared to other cloud backup solutions."
"The pricing is thirty-five dollars per year or three dollars per month per user."
"It is an expensive product for the middle class or SMB customers in India. A lot of top-level big companies also cannot afford this solution. During the license period, one can download the entire data from the cloud without paying any additional cost. This way the data can be easily recreated from the stored data when a machine is lost or the data is compromised."
"Out of all the solutions we evaluated, Druva inSync was the most affordable."
"By implementing the solution at multiple locations, significant cost savings were achieved."
"Its yearly maintenance fee is fairly high for me to renew for upgrades and support."
"There is a free version for two VMs. I would advise to study the deployment environment well, prior to committing to order a license per host."
"Altaro had the best prices and ROI in the whole bunch that we evaluated."
"There is a free version for Hosts with 2 VMs."
"The price is great for the utility you get and the licensing has never caused any issues with my company."
"No other product offers these features for this price. The ROI is great."
"VMware is a little pricey, but it is a good solution and priced similar to other products."
