Supports flexible hosting needs through seamless upgradability and strong monitoring capabilities
The most valuable features of Dell PowerEdge R-Series for me are the feature richness and the upgradability. I really love the way that it is so dynamically applicable for every situation, and they manage to have an all-in-one solution for every single situation. Dell PowerEdge has supported the growth and operational success of my company through its great compute power and price-to-performance ratio. Every time Dell is at the top of its game for us, and there is just no other brand for us that is able to reach that kind of price-to-performance ratio. Dell PowerEdge R-Series has features that specifically cater to the needs of my small company, such as iDRAC. The iDRAC system is a complete feature set for managing servers and hardware technically and monitoring-wise. It really fits in our system and our ecosystem, and monitoring-wise, it is excellent. They have all these sensors available via different protocols and end points, which I love, and the ability to manage and control everything via the iDRAC interface is just a welcome bonus. In our use case, Dell PowerEdge R-Series is very flexible. It is another computer which helps a lot because of the durability over time. They keep running, making scalability for getting more of those resources in our environment so easy.

Robust security layers have supported mission-critical banking and protected sensitive data
Where I have not really enjoyed is the flexibility of doing things. You are just in a straitjacket with what they give you. The flexibility of doing things is limited compared to other platforms. The backup and restore features on that module were a bit old. I couldn't create a snapshot and provision a server in minutes. The VM features that I can use now easily were not that easy with HPE Integrity and were not even available for us. I had a lot of interaction with HPE Integrity and wanted to move to a different platform for a different experience. I did not see any products matching the Dell PowerFlex environment in terms of server capabilities when it comes to HPE Integrity. We are now using Oracle products and Oracle Data Guard. Oracle on HPE Integrity was a bit more difficult because you have to get separate patches, separate tunables, and separate kernel settings for HPE Integrity. Everything was so proprietary on HPE Integrity, making it difficult to have one solution. The Dell Linux environment with Oracle Linux OS now will be much easier.

"Dell PowerEdge R-Series has positively impacted my organization by making simulations easier and faster, reducing the solution solving time and the project delivery time, as well as the cycle time."

"HPE Integrity is a reliable solution, but you'll need to refurbish the hardware because it's approaching the end of sale."
"The product's most valuable features are troubleshooting and monitoring."
"We currently deployed HP Integrity blade servers; they offer great versatility, redundancy, and a rapid method of deploying multiple virtual guests within 10 minutes."
"As a summary, I would say it's been the best high availability platform that HP has produced, at least that we have been able to use and forward to our customers with the highest service level availability."

Cons

"There is room for improvement in technical support."
"At my current company, I have not yet needed to use their customer service, but at my previous company, I did a few times and that was acceptable."
"The design, in terms of power efficiency, can be improved."
"In Pakistan, the vendors or the partners of Dell are not providing a good environment. They need to improve their support and hire partners that have certified support sources."
"The choice of CPUs, RAM configuration, and modifications is very large, partly even a bit too large, because I sometimes get lost in the configuration options, but nothing negative really stands out to me at this point."
"The security of this solution could be improved. We have very specific needs as an engineering company and require multiple layers of security."
"Non-vendor-specific things could benefit Dell PowerEdge R-Series. Dell has a lot of OEM material, obviously, because it is an OEM provider, but it could benefit from more AMD, more ARM, and more across the line."
"We are working with national markets, and HP Enterprise is cheaper. Dell could have made an effort there."
"HPE Integrity is a pain. HPE hasn't put much work into developing the solution in the past few years because it will be discontinued soon."
"Blade system backplane is SPOF."
"HPE Integrity has always been one step behind in areas like virtualization technologies, cloud enablement, the speed of backups, and replication."
"We're moving away from Integrity as it's more pricey than the Intels."
"The manageability must be improved."
"Don't do it. Go x86."
"I don't know if Integrity will survive too much because if the Itanium processors are not going to be supportive anymore, I think in the midterm (4 or 5 years), Integrity's going to be replaced by another product line."
"The virtualization of HPE Integrity could be simplified."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost structure associated with Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers presents itself as a potential point of contention for budget-conscious consumers, as it could be more strategically positioned to compete within the broader marketplace."
"It has generally been very competitive. It is not the best, but it is very competitive."
"They seem to have become more expensive. I've not done a comparison with other vendors recently. If the price increases more, we would need to do a comparison next year just to make sure that we are benchmarking our server purchases correctly."
"Dell EMC PowerEdge Rack Servers are very expensive."
"The solution’s pricing is competitive with other products."
"I personally think the pricing and licensing of Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers is actually fairly decent, though the way the business runs leads to sticker shock anytime we give them a quote."
"There is room for improvement in making it more cost-effective."
"Regarding the pricing, it seems fair."
"There is no license required to use HPE Integrity."
"The pricing is the best."
"HPE Integrity's pricing could be better."
"Price-wise, the solution is very expensive."
"The price is not very expensive."
