Supports flexible hosting needs through seamless upgradability and strong monitoring capabilities
The most valuable features of Dell PowerEdge R-Series for me are the feature richness and the upgradability. I really love the way that it is so dynamically applicable for every situation, and they manage to have an all-in-one solution for every single situation. Dell PowerEdge has supported the growth and operational success of my company through its great compute power and price-to-performance ratio. Every time Dell is at the top of its game for us, and there is just no other brand for us that is able to reach that kind of price-to-performance ratio. Dell PowerEdge R-Series has features that specifically cater to the needs of my small company, such as iDRAC. The iDRAC system is a complete feature set for managing servers and hardware technically and monitoring-wise. It really fits in our system and our ecosystem, and monitoring-wise, it is excellent. They have all these sensors available via different protocols and end points, which I love, and the ability to manage and control everything via the iDRAC interface is just a welcome bonus. In our use case, Dell PowerEdge R-Series is very flexible. It is another computer which helps a lot because of the durability over time. They keep running, making scalability for getting more of those resources in our environment so easy.

Robust security layers have supported mission-critical banking and protected sensitive data
Where I have not really enjoyed is the flexibility of doing things. You are just in a straitjacket with what they give you. The flexibility of doing things is limited compared to other platforms. The backup and restore features on that module were a bit old. I couldn't create a snapshot and provision a server in minutes. The VM features that I can use now easily were not that easy with HPE Integrity and were not even available for us. I had a lot of interaction with HPE Integrity and wanted to move to a different platform for a different experience. I did not see any products matching the Dell PowerFlex environment in terms of server capabilities when it comes to HPE Integrity. We are now using Oracle products and Oracle Data Guard. Oracle on HPE Integrity was a bit more difficult because you have to get separate patches, separate tunables, and separate kernel settings for HPE Integrity. Everything was so proprietary on HPE Integrity, making it difficult to have one solution. The Dell Linux environment with Oracle Linux OS now will be much easier.

"I would evaluate the support from Dell as exceptional."
"They are easy to configure. It is simple to work with Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers."
"This server was priced more cheaply than other options such as IBM and HP, making it quite cost-effective."
"The DRA cards for server management is the most valuable feature. They provide a clear overview of server settings and issues. We also like that the notifications are well-organized."
"Based on what I see in the field, it is where I have the fewest problems, so that already was major."
"Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers powered by Intel are easy to use, are easy to manage with Dell's OpenManage Console, and have extended support for five years."
"We have what is called a chief data care center support. This is the highest level of support they have. We have been very happy with the support we have received."
"When it comes to high-fault tolerance, HPE Integrity is very good, and we have had very good experience with the integrity of the servers for mission-critical functions and high-fault tolerance."
"If one needs a system with first class stability that may be an expensive solution, HPE Integrity is a way to go."
"We use it as a database server for SAP systems, and it is performing very well."
"The stability is pretty good."
"It's a very good product to use for medium-sized companies."
"The product's most valuable features are troubleshooting and monitoring."
"The tool provides good performance and productivity."

Cons

"I'd appreciate seeing more options in terms of expandability for certain Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers models. The expandability issues I've experienced are mainly with the 700 series of the R series chassis, primarily around what can fit in for PCI expansion cards."
"We wanted to have two storage cards during the onboarding process of the solution, which were available only on the more expensive version of the boxes that we usually use for work in our company."
"They could make the service tags larger as I get older."
"I haven't seen ROI from Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers."
"I know the pricing for Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers went up last year, and we weren't too happy about that, but it is what it is."
"Its price could be better."
"From a Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers perspective, I would prefer to see them just keep up with the latest processors, with more power."
"The servers get slower at the end of their life cycle. The technology needs to evolve."
"With the announcement last year from Hewlett-Packard Enterprise that they are no longer supporting Itanium 2 processors, which means HP-UX is going to die soon in a couple of years."
"The monitoring is an area that needs some improvement."
"Pricing is very high. It should be less."
"I don't know if Integrity will survive too much because if the Itanium processors are not going to be supportive anymore, I think in the midterm (4 or 5 years), Integrity's going to be replaced by another product line."
"HPE Integrity has always been one step behind in areas like virtualization technologies, cloud enablement, the speed of backups, and replication."
"Unlike other platforms, it lacks easy integration with popular cloud services like Office 365."
"The quantity of the processor from Integrity, because at this moment there's a limit."
"HPE Integrity is a pain. HPE hasn't put much work into developing the solution in the past few years because it will be discontinued soon."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution's prices are good, especially considering what you get to use...The licensing aspect of the solution is also fine."
"The pricing for this solution is competitive compared to others on the market."
"I know the pricing for Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers went up last year, and we weren't too happy about that, but it is what it is."
"The pricing for PowerEdge servers is reasonable."
"The pricing could always be better."
"I personally think the pricing and licensing of Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers is actually fairly decent, though the way the business runs leads to sticker shock anytime we give them a quote."
"I don't know about the product's licensing part. Price-wise, it is an okay product. I believe that the cheaper the better, but I think that the product's price is okay."
"I don't see any issues with respect to licensing. It's power-efficient, so it's beneficial to the customers price-wise. There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fee."
"Price-wise, the solution is very expensive."
"The pricing is the best."
"HPE Integrity's pricing could be better."
"There is no license required to use HPE Integrity."
"The price is not very expensive."
