Comprehensive data protection and reliable backup capabilities enable smooth disaster recovery operations
The features of Quest NetVault Plus that are most valuable include the ability to pick up and restore to tape servers and external hard disks. It allows us to pick up from devices and then restore to the same devices or external server storage. Additionally, the application supports scanning files for malware before backup operations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best feature of Dell EMC NetWorker is its wide spectrum of available plugins for each and every software that you can back up, such as SAP HANA, Oracle, AXI-based machines, or Dell-based machines. Whatever you want to back up, you can do it with Dell EMC NetWorker. It is a very solid backup software. It is the oldest backup software from EMC, and it comes from Dell EMC's legacy."
"Stability and the ease of taking backups are the biggest benefits of Dell NetWorker."
"Dell's technical support are quite helpful with straightforward issues."
"If it's set up the right way, it's a stable product."
"The backup feature for this product is good. It is easy to set up and easy to scale."
"Very user-friendly with a good interface."
"I started off as a storage engineer and ended up owning Dell EMC Data Domain and Dell EMC NetWorker. I've not used any other backup solutions at this scale. Dell EMC NetWorker does what I need it to do, it's efficient."
"The solution is scalable."
"The initial setup is straightforward. It's not that complicated. Deployment took maybe about 15 minutes."
"The solution allows us to block off our network and only give access to whatever we want."
"Quest NetVault Plus has a high level of stability."
"Having the web-based interface is important to us because we can access it from any computer in the network, rather than having it installed and available for use only on a specific one."
"Its dashboard is quite well done. When you log into the GUI, you can basically see everything you need to know. There is also the possibility to edit the view as you like, which is great."
"Quest NetVault Plus is quite effective for managing backups across multiple systems because we don't need to log in to the backup server to manage it; it's web-based, so from any system in the network, you can log in and manage everything."
"The interface is very user-friendly."
"The user interface is good."

Cons

"The management of Dell Networker is quite cumbersome."
"I am not very satisfied with the support. The interface on the Java application makes it difficult, whereas the web interface is simple to use."
"There should be more vendors incorporated into the solution."
"The user interface of this solution could be improved. It is not user friendly and is difficult to understand for new users. New users struggle to understand the logic."
"NetWorker sometimes has issues with the backup not starting and with connecting to the Oracle servers."
"The licensing rules are difficult to navigate and understand."
"In some cases, solutions are not found in one method of call and it escalates to many levels until an experienced person can join to resolve the issue."
"The tool should be more streamlined and simplified to create a backup to receive objects."
"Improvements should come, particularly in compatibility, backup performance, or better troubleshooting."
"Improvements could be made in the deduplication and data management capabilities. There is also a need for better security measures, as security is critical to ensure backups are safe and free from malware."
"There are certain issues with the product that we report to Quest, and we get offered a workaround instead of a fix. There could be better interaction with the development teams, perhaps in terms of transparency."
"The stability of the solution is poor."
"The product’s SQL backup plugin needs improvement."
"The storage capacity is very low."
"The initial setup is a little complex."
"I would like to see the option of cloud-based management."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is excellent from the pricing point of view. It is free with Data Protection Suite. Similarly, when you purchase Avamar, Dell EMC NetWorker is free with one terabyte license capacity. Its price is very competitive."
"Licensing is based on the number of terabytes, so you need to purchase packages."
"Pricing is cheaper for this product, compared to its competitors."
"It is not very expensive and not very cheap."
"Dell NetWorker is an expensive solution. None of the backup products are cheap. The licensing model offered is usually a five-year one."
"The price of the license could be cheaper and it would be a benefit if they came up with a new pricing model. The competitors here in Oman sell universal licensing where a number of virtual machines are hosted at the customer place which can be licensed, or you can license the CPU sockets in those servers. However, NetWorker offers only CPU sockets or overall storage capacity to backup, but there is no universal licensing where you can provide a number of VMs. They should offer more options to stay competitive with other solutions, such as Veeam."
"Low cost is key."
"It is a relatively inexpensive product compared to one of its competitors."
"When we purchased four licenses, we were given a very good price. However, it is still on the high side when compared to some other vendors."
"The price of our 12-month contract is approximately $1,500 AUD ($1,100 USD)."
"The tool is expensive."
