Storage platform has improved data performance and has provided reliable support for my clients
It's difficult to know how DataCore SANsymphony can be improved. I think DataCore SANsymphony could be deployed on Linux environments, which could be a great thing for clients. I would like to see the stabilization of the Veeam implementation in the future, and perhaps the integration or officialization of compatibility with Proxmox and XCP-ng. With Proxmox, it wasn't easy while integrating it with third-party solutions. It's working, but it was a bit difficult to deploy.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Stability, the price, and ergonomics are the features I find most valuable in DataCore SANsymphony."
"We are now able to run a hot standby solution for our virtual systems with separated server rooms (in case of fire), and so we can minimize downtimes of our IT infrastructure."
"It allows data to be available from two DataCore servers."
"The bottom line is the software is what runs our applications on whatever storage vendor we choose - and it does so reliably."
"I found the solution to be very stable."
"I am very happy with this product's ability to adapt, increase, and modify existing infrastructures."
"It is a very stable solution."
"For us, fault tolerance is the most important feature of DataCore."
"The customers who use DDN EXAScaler are happy, especially when using large AI clusters for training."
"EXAScaler provides amazing performance in terms of sequential read and random access, and it has a significant scalability advantage as it is scalable to petabytes."

Cons

"DataCore is currently working with Veeam software for a better integration; this is my only desired missing feature today."
"The current view in the GUI is too simple and we cannot see clearly cold data or hot data."
"The main problem is there is no DataCore OS."
"There is room for improvement in the graphical interface."
"Tech support is NOT good at all, even when buying the higher level support from them."
"Customer support is hit or miss. There are good technicians, however, some are not so good."
"DataCore should integrate its own file server into SANsymphony."
"We'd like to manage the raid on the disk directly in SanSymphony."
"One challenge with EXAScaler is during upgrade time, as it can be problematic when upgrading node by node. Additionally, it is not multi-protocol by nature, requiring additional hardware to support various protocols like NFS or object storage."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is cost effective."
"The cost is at the same level as other storage solutions and it is easy to understand the licensing."
"DataCore SANsymphony's pricing is very high and should be much cheaper."
"We have licensing costs on a yearly basis. They charge per terabyte, so in terms of cost, it can be very costly. They have three different features, and you have to pay extra for those."
"This product has a good ratio between quality and price. In many cases, it's less expensive to work with DataCore than other storage systems."
"It is relatively expensive, and the additional costs for hardware and storage can make it a significant investment for customers."
"Make sure you are made aware of the annual subscription cost when purchasing."
"This solution allows the use of off-the-shelf hardware and charges by the TB of storage."
