Secret scanning has strengthened our code security and now needs better container integration
Regarding container scanning, Cycode can be improved as it does not have a CLI. As a DevSecOps professional, having a CLI is a must-have for any tool to integrate it into systems. Although Cycode does have a CLI, specifically for the container scanning module, a CLI does not exist. This is why all the modules that Cycode offers cannot be fully leveraged. A CLI for the container scanning module is believed to be on Cycode's roadmap, but it is not available today. As a big enterprise dealing with many assets, Cycode being faster would be beneficial. With many assets on-boarded on Cycode, the tool sometimes becomes slow. Making Cycode faster would definitely help. Other than that, things are good.

We maintain high code standards with effective static code analysis and integration
SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) could be improved on the reporting front. Instead of grouping, I would prefer to scan the code as part of development and then generate a report on a daily basis among different units or projects, which is currently complicated. We need to change it to more of a portfolio report, where configuring or setting up things on the portfolio requires tagging at the ADO level.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cycode excels in secret scanning and is brilliant at finding and identifying secrets within code."
"Cycode has positively impacted the organization by saving time in the pipeline and providing one platform for secret scanning, SAST, and Infrastructure as Code facilities."
"SonarQube is admin friendly."
"The most valuable features are the segregation containment and the suspension of product services."
"We use this solution for qualitative coding. We make use of the SonarLint plugin as well as the dashboard."
"This product has helped us improve the quality of code within the business and ensure all new developers keep to a similar code convention per project."
"My advice to others is this solution is one of the best in the free market in the industry and it is a good one to use."
"There are many options and examples available in the tool that help us fix the issues it shows us."
"I like that it's easy to navigate not just in terms of code findings but you can actually see them in the context of your source code because it gives you a copy of your code with the items that it found and highlights them. You can see it directly in your code, so you can easily go back and make the corrections in the code. It basically finds the problems for you and tells you where they are."
"The depth features I have found most valuable, as you receive a quick comprehensive comparison overview regarding the current release and the last release and what type of depths dependency or duplication should be used, which is going to help you to make more readable code and have more flexibility for the engineers to understand how things should work when they do not know."

Cons

"Regarding container scanning, Cycode can be improved as it does not have a CLI."
"Currently, Cycode does not have good container security, and while it is a full solution, companies desiring a single platform must seek additional tools to scan container images."
"Improvements could be made in terms of security. I would like to see dynamic code analysis in the next version of the software."
"Currently requires multiple tools, lacking one overall tool."
"Dynamic scanning is missing and there are some issues with security scanning."
"In terms of what can be improved, the areas that need more attention in the solution are its architecture and development."
"I would like to see SonarQube implement a good amount of improvements to the product's security features. Another aspect of SonarQube that could be improved is the search functionality."
"I think the code security can be improved."
"It's a bit expensive for us. The currency rate of the dollar is a problem but it may be fine for other countries."
"We had some issues with the scanner."

"Previously, the pricing was 17,000 euros for five million lines analyzed. However, they now charge $15,000 per one million lines, significantly increasing the cost."
