Backup operations have become faster and daily recoveries run smoothly for on‑prem workloads
When compared to other tools, the deduplication in Cohesity DataProtect is very fast, and the restore performance is better than other tools. Global deduplication ensures that only unique data blocks are stored, significantly reducing storage consumption. Cohesity DataProtect's dashboard displays options and errors clearly, making it easy to access and understand how to fix issues. Cohesity DataProtect's ability to start processes automatically without manual selections enhances its reliability. Cohesity DataProtect's architecture ensures that agent installations automatically reflect in the dashboard, allowing for seamless integration into backup jobs. This improves operational efficiency, ensuring backups can be triggered without manual refreshes. Additionally, the user interface is intuitive, and the respect of the N-1 rule during updates helps prevent client-affecting issues.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The dashboard is very easy to use."
"Cohesity DataProtect is a reliable solution for performing backups within a suitable timeframe, and its forever incremental model is particularly effective for the customer's needs. Additionally, the solution handles instant recovery and file-level recovery from a VMware image backup seamlessly."
"It has mainly given us peace of mind knowing that our backups are going to work, and we will be able to easily restore our data, if needed."
"Cohesity is extremely easy to use and intuitive."
"Integration with AWS has been invaluable to us."
"The restores are easy to do and have made it so that we can incorporate restores into our troubleshooting processes."
"The spin-up of a VM within a test environment for backup testing along with quick restores."
"The solution boasts good retention, as it is global in a single platform and, since they have their own appliance, it is scalable as well."
"The flexible ways you can get to the data and the options that it gives you for backing up your valuable data are what make its offsite storage so valuable."
"The most valuable feature for me is the policy management capabilities"

Cons

"We have had our share of minor bugs over the past two years and a few bigger ones."
"The rack mounting instructions did not appear to be correct, but we were able to overcome it."
"Since it is an evolving product, there are lot of frequent releases which require upgrades to be done every other weekend."
"Their documentation could be refined."
"In terms of the product itself, there have been a handful of patches that have had to be applied outside of the GUI via the command line."
"If someone were to change an admin account password, I would like an alert raised for that, which is not available at the moment."
"In terms of what could be improved, their UI requires a manual refresh. It doesn't seem like it updates itself sometimes when you're moving from screens or waiting for a change to take effect, so you have to manually refresh."
"The support team sometimes takes a long time to resolve issues, although, in our experience, these have been specific things like SQL blobs."
"I would like to see more integration with different platforms."
"Basically, the only thing I do not like about it, it was keyed off Lotus Notes."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is monthly licensing."
"Cohesity came in at the best price."
"The solution's pricing is quite high, more so than that of its competitors, Veeam, Veritas and Rubrik."
"The tool's pricing is average."
"Pricing, setup costs, etc. are pretty typical. The initial cost for Cohesity was less than other products the we evaluated. Cohesity's pricing does offer benefits as DR target costs are less than other solutions. You are not charged for DataProtect licensing for target DR data consumption."
"The tool's licensing costs are yearly. It is cheaper than other backup solutions."
"My advice is to always negotiate for better pricing."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
