Standardized ELT templates have accelerated delivery while API and UI flexibility still need improvement
The best features Coalesce.io offers in my experience include lineage, which is the most important from the Ziggo perspective, and the APIs, which I would rank as the second most valuable. The third feature is the bulk edit option, so we don't have to do repetitive tasks again and again. The new SQL feature they are introducing, where you can dump your SQL and have your table or view created without manually creating columns, is also valuable. These are the four features I appreciate the most, and the fifth one would be the recently implemented GUI change where you can put a node in a spotlight to see the upstream and downstream based on what you need, setting up the depth and those settings. Coalesce.io has positively impacted my organization by reducing our development time and the time to market from around 15 days to a couple of days. This is the biggest impact we have experienced, and we are able to enforce a standardized way of working among developers, eliminating silos or customized solutions that developers create for themselves. If a satellite is loaded by ten different processes, all ten different processes generate the same type of SQL, making it easier to debug later if someone new joins the team. Additionally, since it is a SaaS solution, there is no need to maintain any software or install anything on laptops, which has helped us at VodafoneZiggo. Another feature is the API feature and the CLI command tool, which aid us significantly in moving from PowerCenter to Coalesce, enabling the migration of mappings from PowerCenter to Coalesce in bulk.

Have prioritized security while managing multi-agent data migration and cloud adoption
We utilize Time Travel with Snowflake because this is a very useful feature. Everyone finds it crucial because in conventional data platforms, it's very difficult to handle these kinds of things. This feature is essential, though I don't have the use cases currently; it is just there for implementation. Regarding Snowflake's automated scaling and suspension features, this auto-scaling is very significant. We had a comparison with Databricks and Snowflake a few months back, and this auto-scaling takes an edge within Snowflake; that's what our observation reflects.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Coalesce.io has positively impacted my organization by making development faster and keeping the logic clearer, so we do not have to see 1000-2000 lines of code every time."
"Coalesce.io has helped me develop projects faster, as it is easy to implement and maintain, reducing execution time by thirty to forty percent, while also helping me design a modular approach."
"The best features that Coalesce.io offers include a very rigid ETL framework that ensures all developers use the same pattern."
"Usually it takes six to seven weeks to develop all those things, but with Coalesce.io, I can complete those things in one week."
"Using Coalesce.io, I have reduced my transformation process and eliminated macros that were previously used, creating reusable programs that are helpful for other projects and models, which has reduced code dependencies between teams and saved approximately three hundred to four hundred dollars per day in processing costs."
"Coalesce.io has positively impacted my organization by reducing our development time and the time to market from around 15 days to a couple of days."
"Coalesce.io has positively impacted my organization by improving workflow, productivity, and business outcomes."
"Coalesce.io has positively impacted my organization by being a tool that can be leveraged by a non-technical team, especially business analysts who are working on bringing data from different sources."
"This is the advanced version of the cloud version, so it's really a flexible tool. If you have it implemented at home, you can access it from anywhere."
"It is a very good platform. It can handle structured and semi-structured data, and it can be used for your data warehouse or data lake. It can load and deal with any data that you have. It can extract data from an on-premises database or a website and make it available in the cloud. It has very fast implementation and integration as compared to other solutions. There is no need for the DBA to manage or do the day-to-day DBA tasks, which is one of the greatest things about it."
"The integration capabilities of the product are good and you get what you pay for when it comes to Snowflake."
"The most valuable feature is the snapshot database. In one second, you can just take a snapshot of the database for test purposes."
"It is definitely a good tool and a good database without any adoption problems."
"Snowflake is faster than on-premise systems and allows for variable compute power based on need."
"With no effort on our part, we could have a stronger system compared to the effort and cost of doing a similar thing on-premises."
"My advice for anybody who is considering Snowflake is that it is a really good product, especially if you are having issues with Big Data."

Cons

"Coalesce.io is compatible with Snowflake only, so it must be configured with other platforms such as Databricks and BigQuery, which is a limitation and a drawback."
"Coalesce.io could improve in their AI features that they have enabled now."
"Coalesce.io could be improved from the stage layer perspective."
"For that specific use case, I was able to accomplish what I was trying to do during the demo, but we encountered certain scenarios such as post-hooks, update statements, edge cases, or particular SQL query modifications and custom cases that could not be implemented through the GUI interface."
"I do not find anything particularly helpful or something that stands out yet."
"I believe the editing should be a bit easier, or there should be a bulk edit option where a column can be added in one go in multiple places."
"At the moment, the only improvement I see is deeper support for AI agents to support the developer's job."
"Coalesce.io can be improved regarding the APIs that still do not support all types of scenarios within a node, which is a blocking issue for us and potentially for other companies as well."
"The stability has been phenomenal up until lately. We haven't had any issues until the last month."
"Snowflake has to improve their spatial components since it doesn't have much in terms of geo-spatial queries."
"There is room for improvement in Snowflake's integration with Python. We do a lot of SQL programming in Snowflake, but we go to a different tool to program when we have to in Python."
"There are some functions in the SQL language in other products which are not yet included in Snowflake's SQL."
"One main area for improvement in Snowflake is cost visibility and optimization; while it's flexible and scalable, costs can increase quickly if warehouses are left running unnecessarily or workloads are not monitored carefully, raising the costs of the tool."
"For the Snowflake database, there should be some third-party features for the ETL. It would also be good to be able to use some kind of controls to get the data either from another database or a flat file. Its price should be improved. It should be cheaper than Microsoft."
"Every product has room for improvement, although in this case, it needs some broadening of the functionality."
"The user interface continues to be an issue, especially when we need to get data out of Snowflake. It's very easy to get data in, but it's not too easy to get it out or extract it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It's expensive."
"I have not been billed yet, but it should be less. I'm still running the trial version, but it seems to be less than Databricks."
"You need to be aware of the bloating costs. It is easy to use, but if you don't use it wisely, then your monthly bill can bloat a lot. You need to be a bit aware of its consumption cost."
"I have worked with multiple clouds, and cost-wise, it is a bit costlier than others, such as Redshift. Its price should be reduced."
"Currently, we have a trial account, so we don't need a license. After our project starts, we would need a permanent license."
"Oracle is less expensive than Snowflake."
"You pay based on the data that you are storing in the data warehouse and there are no maintenance costs."
"It is per credit. It has a use-it-as-you-go model. We bought a chunk of 20,000 credits, and they were lasting us for at least a year. We didn't have the scale of data like a much larger company to consume more credits. For us, it was very inexpensive. Their strategy is just to leverage what you've got and put Snowflake in the middle. It doesn't make it expensive because most of the organizations already have reporting tools. Now, if you were starting from scratch, it might be cheaper to go a different way."
