Developers can share within Coalesce.io. I would rate Coalesce.io as nine out of ten. We do not track any metrics at the moment. Coalesce.io is deployed in a private cloud. When Coalesce.io needs to be updated or maintained, we must declare the maintenance window. We cannot use the tool during maintenance, but we try to keep maintenance time low to prevent any issues. I don't have much information about security features. Coalesce.io offers capabilities that we managed to use, but we also use external tools. The Coalesce.io integration was planned to be smooth because before it, we used another tool, so we had to migrate what we had on the previous tool to Coalesce.io and then switch off when everything was done. I suggest Coalesce.io to everyone who wants a collaborative environment deeply integrated with Snowflake that supports developers in their job.

We utilize Time Travel with Snowflake because this is a very useful feature. Everyone finds it crucial because in conventional data platforms, it's very difficult to handle these kinds of things. This feature is essential, though I don't have the use cases currently; it is just there for implementation. Regarding Snowflake's automated scaling and suspension features, this auto-scaling is very significant. We had a comparison with Databricks and Snowflake a few months back, and this auto-scaling takes an edge within Snowflake; that's what our observation reflects.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Coalesce.io has impacted our organization positively by providing a low-code approach, supporting different sources so we don't need to write custom code, and offering a collaborative tool suitable for teams with a large number of developers."
"This solution has helped our organization by being easy to maintain and having good technical support."
"The syntax is advanced which reduces the time to write code."
"The solution's computing time is less."
"Snowflake has evolved significantly over time; initially, they started with scalability, but more recently, they have introduced streaming capabilities, real-time and dynamic tables, along with various connectors."
"We find the data sharing and data marketplace aspects of Snowflake absolutely amazing."
"The cloning functionality has been the most valuable. I have been able to completely copy databases. The data sharing concept is also useful. As compared to, for example, SAP, Snowflake is a lot more open, and it allows a lot more connectivity for other providers than an SAP ecosystem."
"The way it is built and designed is valuable. The way the shared model is built and the way it exploits the power of the cloud is very good. Certain features related to administration and management, akin to Oracle Flashback and all that, are very important for modern-day administration and management. It is also good in terms of managing and improving performance, indexing, and partitioning. It is sort of completely automated. Everything is essentially under the hood, and the engine takes care of it all. As a data warehouse on the cloud, Snowflake stands strong on its ground even though each of the cloud providers has its own data warehouse, such as Redshift for AWS or Synapse for Azure."
"I like the idea that you can assign roles and responsibilities, limiting access to data."

Cons

"At the moment, the only improvement I see is deeper support for AI agents to support the developer's job."
"I don't know about GCP, if they have connected for GCP. If they don't, they should allow for it."
"It would be helpful if Snowflake could create good reports instead of using Power BI reports."
"These days, they are pushing users towards the GUI or graphical version. However, I am more familiar with the classic version. I'd like to continue to work with it using the older approach."
"The addition of more AI capabilities in Snowflake would help us more."
"Snowflake has support for stored procedures, but it is not that powerful."
"If more connectors were brought in and more visibility features were added, particularly around cost tracking in the FinOps area, it would be beneficial."
"We are yet to figure out how to integrate tools, such as Liquibase, to release changes to our data warehouse model."
"These aren't as crucial, but there are common errors sometimes where the database is down, or a table is nullified and a new table is added and you are not given access to that. With those errors, you don't have permissions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The solution is expensive but worth the cost because the quality is there."
"It's expensive."
"I have not been billed yet, but it should be less. I'm still running the trial version, but it seems to be less than Databricks."
"Snowflake’s pricing is transparent. It is one of the cheapest cloud database warehouse providers. The tool follows a credit cost model. Everything on Snowflake is charged on the basis of credits. The credits depend on the cloud region and the public cloud provider that we use. Hence, the cost per credit will be different for AWS in Frankfurt and AWS in India. I think North Virginia is the cheapest region in terms of cost per credit. You will be consuming around 16 credits for large data warehouses."
"Currently, we have a trial account, so we don't need a license. After our project starts, we would need a permanent license."
"Snowflake licensing is more flexible and it is cheaper than other solutions. I can use it for only 10 days for MVP, or three years, and for flexible models. I can scale up, or down, and the pricing is based on the volume and duration. There are many licensing permutation combinations available."
"There is a separation of storage and compute, so you only pay for what you use."
"We used Snowflake to see if it is cheaper than using BigQuery. It was just to maintain the cost or the KPI regarding the cost of connectivity by users. Snowflake wasn't cheaper than BigQuery, and its affordability was the main issue."
