Automated hardening has standardized our servers and reduces effort for secure Windows workloads
The first-boot time is longer than a stock Windows AMI. Sysprep and the initial hardening pass add a noticeable delay before the instance is reachable, which is something to account for if you autoscale and need nodes ready quickly. The hardened defaults also occasionally trip up common installers and agents. A few of our deployment and monitoring tools assumed services or policies that the image had locked down, so we had to add exceptions. A short compatibility checklist of what the hardening changes from a default Windows install would have saved us that debugging. I would also like the option of a CIS Level 2 build for our more sensitive workloads since the image currently only ships a Level 1 baseline. Thanks.

Centralized email and file backups have protected long-term data and simplify user recoveries
I think Veritas Alta Recovery Vault can be improved by changing their license model and being more flexible. Currently, they are charging us for the size of the backup storage, while some other solutions claim to have unlimited backup storage. The pricing is increasing heavily. Since it is an enterprise solution, it is okay that it should be expensive, but they need to enhance their license model because they are selling only for a minimum of 1,000 Office 365 users. For a small environment, this is not applicable. Additionally, they are providing only 2TB per user, so I need to purchase extra storage since the default storage that comes with the normal user license is not enough. They need to enhance their pricing and licensing model. The issue I face with Veritas Alta Recovery Vault is that if I need to move from their service to other solutions, there is no clear idea about the grace period to migrate the backup data to another solution, and it relies only on the user. This is also one more concern; if I want to go with them and buy their solution, I need to be careful because it feels like a one-way ticket.

Pros

"Because the image arrives CIS Level 1 hardened with the AWS tooling already in place, our servers come up patched, locked down, and ready to join the domain without a separate build out pass."
"Windows Server 2025 is a strong fit for enterprise environments heavily reliant on Microsoft technologies."
"Veritas Alta Recovery Vault has positively impacted my organization because in case some users left, I don't care if they delete their old archive files because I have backup for their emails or OneDrive, even SharePoint."
"Customer trust has increased since using Veritas Alta Recovery Vault because we guarantee this data for this customer."

Cons

"The hardened defaults also occasionally trip up common installers and agents: a few of our deployment and monitoring tools assumed services or policies that the image had locked down, so we had to add exceptions."
"Initial configuration complexity can still be high for teams without prior Windows Server expertise."
"The issue I face with Veritas Alta Recovery Vault is that if I need to move from their service to other solutions, there is no clear idea about the grace period to migrate the backup data to another solution, and it relies only on the user."
"The improvement needed for Veritas Alta Recovery Vault is to simplify multi-cloud redundancy with a single-click policy that handles cross-cloud because natively we can choose one region to replicate this data."
