Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the simplicity of the central management system(CMS).""This product is widely available and the warranty is very good.""One of the most valuable aspects of Cisco Ethernet Switches is many engineers can work on the equipment. You can find qualified engineers that can configure Cisco equipment more than any other networking equipment.""I like that it's easy to use.""The features that I have found most valuable are the core reliability and the switching group. All the features are very generic switching features with high reliability. That is the main key point I can highlight.""The hardware is rugged. We use it for the basic configuration.""The solution is a high-end router that can handle a huge network with tons of traffic.""One valuable feature is that you can string a number of switches together, and the fact that there are various methods to connect them, such as by stacking."

"The product's most valuable feature is its ability to manage switches from one central point.""The single pane of glass that helps us manage everything through FortiManager is the most important feature.""The most valuable feature is the port analytics.""I like the solution's technical support. I rate the technical support a ten out of ten.""We are able to monitor everything that is happening on our network.""I have found the solution to be scalable.""What I like about the solution is that it can be accessed anywhere.""The interface is very straightforward."

Cons
"The licensing needs to be improved.""Cisco switches are good as they are, but it would be a major feature if they have built-in routers. Some of the Microchip switches have routers built in the same device. They have a router switch. For some of the sites, we deploy such switches because the client does not want a separate router and a separate switch. So, we go for a router switch with maybe 24 ports. Some of them are fiber, and some of them are ethernet. It would be a major improvement to what Cisco is already doing. Behind the scenes, a lot of scripting and stuff like this is happening. A lot of workload can be lifted if Cisco had a good GUI. If you look at Microchip switches, they have a good GUI in addition to the CLI.""Putting in a more complete management infrastructure would help when it comes to handling lower-end switches.""The price could be lower. It's quite expensive.""Cisco is not user-friendly. It would be best if you had a technical expert. The graphical user interface is more like a command line, and most functionalities are on the command line.""The local support resources for Cisco in Bangledesh are very poor and should be increased.""Pricing could be lower.""In terms of features, all features are there. I can't find anything new that needs to be added. Its price, however, is a bit higher than other brands and can be improved."

"The product must improve the latency in the management center.""The tool is not easy to use.""Routing is an area in Fortinet FortiSwitch with certain shortcomings where improvements are needed.""Fortinet FortiSwitch - Data Center needs to improve its UI and stability.""They could improve availability and security by detecting and preventing switch attacks.""We need to understand a bit more about certifications and knowledge for understanding capabilities. The solution should make that more clear to its users.""The solution’s pricing could be improved.""The solution could always benefit from more security. It's of critical importance to organizations right now."
