Governance has streamlined service registry usage but deployment and integration still need work
I work with GraphQL, REST API, and SOAP services as well. API Connect works with GraphQL and can deploy GraphQL services. I also work with GraphQL in Software AG webMethods API Gateway. I'm working with DataPower. I have experience with IBM API Gateway, API Connect, Event Stream, and App Connect, the Cloud platform integration. I didn't involve DataPower with BPM before. I have used the webMethods API Gateway. I have used an open-source framework that is not a product for a specific vendor. I work with GraphQL in three different products: API Connect, the API Gateway of the webMethods Software AG, and the Java Spring framework. I work with CentraSite and also work with the Integration Server, webMethods Integration Server, and Universal Messaging. The governance is powerful. I can recommend CentraSite for any industry working with service registry and repositories. I would rate it eight out of ten. I have seven years of experience with IBM solutions and rate them nine or ten out of ten. I have one year of experience with webMethods and rate it eight out of ten. I have five years of experience with other solutions. The overall review rating for this product is seven.

Has enabled complex data flow management but faces limitations with modern integration needs
There are areas of Oracle SOA Suite I would like to see improved or enhanced in the future, particularly regarding its adapter capabilities. The popularity of Oracle Integration Cloud nowadays arises from its larger set of adapter capabilities, including numerous application adapters. In contrast, Oracle SOA Suite provides a limited number of adapters. I would like to see more REST-based features added to Oracle SOA Suite, currently lacking, along with an enhancement of file size or payload capability, as the existing limitation is a 10 MB payload size. Additionally, Oracle SOA Suite licensing cost tends to be higher, adhering to a fixed pricing model rather than a pay-per-use basis, which might not be suitable for smaller organizations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The governance is powerful, and you can look up services very easily, which may reduce some development cycle time."
"We now have a place that allows our integration to happen, whether that's through the agile API running that process or by having our web team develop something that reaches back into the database to grab data."
"The product allows loose coupling between applications."
"Enables our Product Manager to post products to different outside EC platforms with only one interface and one process."
"I would rate my experience with the initial setup an eight out of ten, where one is difficult, and ten is easy."
"The ability to stand up a highly available SOA Suite, which has full DR capabilities, in a remote center and synchronize the databases using Data Guard."
"We have figured out that SOA Suite 12c currently offers the richest functionalities and is the best integrated product."
"My advice is to buy it and use it."
"We decided to go with Oracle SOA Suite just because it was already pre-built and it was mature enough that it had all the capabilities we were looking for."

Cons

"The setup is mild. It's not so simple and not very difficult. You can make it happen with some configuration, but it's not easy for non-professional people."
"Another area of improvement is performance. Because with multiple solutions connecting to the SOA platform, the performance of the SOA platform can be affected in time. So, that could be one area that could be improved with the SOA."
"We faced some issues, particularly in clustered environments."
"It's like one of their greatest assets can also be one of their greatest detriments which is it comes so feature-rich in such a big product that it sometimes can be an expensive product."
"They supply lots of documentation but finding what we need is challenging at times."
"It adds not only another layer of point of failure but also another requirement which clients need to keep in mind while building the environment or upgrading."
"The solutions can improve the communication or translations between formats, such as JSON and XML. The JSON REST API could improve."
"The interface is too complicated. Making modifications still requires too much technical knowledge."
"API Management and BPM both need work, but I believe Oracle is already working on this."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution."
"The pricing is not very high as compared to its competitors."
"The product is moderately priced."
"This product is WebLogic based, hence it can be both resource hungry as well as expensive from a licensing point of view."
"Based on my knowledge, Oracle SOA Suite doesn't have user-based licensing. It has a system-based licensing model, so you pay for whole systems. Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution, so it's a four out of ten for me."
"It is necessary to evaluate the requirement regarding the platform usage and what the main operation area of the platform will be."
"Oracle pricing is expensive. Support is based on your license. AWS is much better than Oracle in this regard."
