Helps design blueprints in a cloud environment but the support is a major problem
One of the major problems is that support is not so good. I used to have a support expert in Spain but they left two years ago. BMC doesn't invest a lot in network automation but network automation is a major point in CLM. There aren't any experts here in Europe, maybe they have in America, I don't know. The main problem is the support in Europe. We had a lot of problems with the people who got put on our cases. The agents that we were assigned to were not so capable. They wanted to replicate the problem. If you have an incident, it takes a lot of time to troubleshoot the problem. The incident support is not so good. The technicians don't know the platform well. BMC doesn't want to invest in CLM. Two years ago we had a lot of problems. Maybe BMC realized that CLM is an end of life product.

Helps us provide visibility into network performance, capacity planning, and cost analysis
Better support and more accessible resources are crucial. Customers have expressed that support is not as flexible, and it is difficult to obtain necessary information quickly. Customers would benefit from improved training material for integration with other products. The solution's pricing is high and needs to be reconsidered, and the technical support should improve to provide more accessible and open information.

Pros

"We have many regions where more than 10000 servers are deployed, so it helps in patching and hardening of servers."
"It's helped us with our automation."
"Total build time has been reduced from four weeks to one week, then later to 24 hours."
"CLM has a multi-cloud portal because they have the resources to implement in various environments in various ports."
"Assesses change impact or completes an audit using multiple dashboard views."
"CLM has a multi-cloud portal because they have the resources to implement in various environments in various ports."
"Allowing systems to be provisioned in a wide range of environments, such as Azure, AWS, or on-premise, reduces the level of training required as well as creates consistency across the board."
"You can tie together your public and private cloud infrastructure into a "single pane of glass"."
"There is nothing we can't monitor with this product and do so in a very easy and efficient manner."
"We have found that the ROI with this solution is that the features available allow us to spot potential issues before they occur and cause problems for our customers."
"For me, the most valuable feature is multi-tenancy as it can monitor networks and applications simultaneously."
"I would definitely recommend the concept if it is something you are looking for."
"Monitoring has been easy and streamlined, and its ability to integrate with CA SDM and its capability to receive SNMP traps from other tools makes it simple to integrate."
"The most valuable feature for us are the way it brings silo products together that we've invested in over the years, and it allows us to consolidate our views for our customers."
"Provides a comprehensive monitoring solution for our open systems and also the mainframe."
"The feature that we've found to be very helpful is the way the solution categorizes the devices to identify groups, groups of devices and clusters."

Cons

"Needs integrations with other providers to provide a custom public cloud environment."
"Going to BMC for PS is not at all recommended from my experience."
"Needs integrations with other providers to provide a custom public cloud environment."
"One of the major problems is that support is not so good."
"The installation and configuration can be tricky due to it being built on Remedy."
"One of the major problems is that support is not so good."
"It was complex as it does not include a good, extensive feasibility and compatibility guide."
"The installation and configuration can be tricky due to it being built on Remedy."
"It requires a very skilled team to be able to deploy that application, and if you don’t invest in training and don’t go over a long training period, you might find it difficult to deploy."
"The biggest, most annoying problem, if you will, is the ISE that's embedded in UIM."
"Initial setup was difficult because we didn’t know what we were doing and had to re-design and re-deploy."
"Administration interface, in particular the infrastructure manager. The event console could also use a make-over."
"We have experienced challenges with finding a mechanism to deploy the agents, but it's only on the first deployment so it's not a big issue."
"The other element is that there are no real templates, out of the box. Let's go with an example where we do have the probe, which is great, and we do have a really nuanced customer with a small set of devices that maybe not a lot of other customers use. There might not be a template in place, so effectively we have the tool in front of us but we still need to develop a solution. So it would be really nice to see a little bit more of something like a central repository of templates that we could use. That would help us expedite our onboarding process."
"Support SLA for response and resolution is pathetic, even the quality of resolution is not up to the level of expectations."
"Initially, in the UK, we had challenges having to engage the standard process."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
"The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
"The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
"Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."
"CAD $400,000 annually."
"This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
