Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Doesn't have daily updates, which is important for healthcare IT
I face challenges with the exclusion policy - it still scans folders we told it not to, causing issues. When we contact support, they tell us to update the latest agent, but we can't do that immediately due to medical device protocols and validation testing. I wish support would try to understand our issues better instead of giving this standard response. The machine learning feature they use often tells us to upgrade the agent or add things to the exclusion list, which isn't unacceptable. It's a very good and new technology as a tool and antivirus. But sometimes, it doesn't work properly with our medical devices and products, quarantining files it shouldn't even after we add them to exclusions. This is tricky for us.

Centralized protection has improved malware defense and simplifies on‑premises deployment
What I like in Kaspersky TOTAL Security for Business is that I tried the deployment on only the endpoint with no EDR, and it is easy to use. Kaspersky TOTAL Security for Business's anti-malware feature has a positive effect. Centralized security management in Kaspersky TOTAL Security for Business is good, but many errors appear in the software management.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"They did what they said. This solution could apply to any scenario."
"It has pretty much everything we need and works well within the Palo Alto ecosystem."
"They have a new GUI which is just fantastic."
"If the user leaves our premises or network, Palo Alto Traps will still be on that endpoint and will still apply our policies."
"The dashboard is customizable."
"The protection offered by this product is good, as is the endpoint reporting."
"Cortex covers everything I need. It's a perfect solution. Cortex provides a different level of visibility because it's an extended EDR, allowing you to grab logs from the network and firewalls. Palo Alto invented the concept of the extended EDR or XDR."
"But overall, when we speak about security and protection, they are one of the top providers."
"The non-daily requirement to update signatures is the most valuable feature. From a functional point of view, it is pretty spot on. For instance, we compared an algorithm from five years ago to today's algorithm, and it was 98% accurate. It has the ability to detect and mitigate. In the industrial environment that we work in, there's what we call OT versus IT. You are IT Central, but this is OT. Generally, we don't have the same level of skillset as IT individuals or IT professionals have. This particular product doesn't require you to be a computer scientist to be able to understand its proprietary algorithm and to be able to deploy, use, and work within it. It integrates well with a robust SIEM or SOAR solution, and it plays nice with others. We use other detection solutions like CyberX or site provision with Cisco, and it plays nice. That's one of the things we really liked about it."
"Its setup is simple if you have a Windows device; it is executable."
"The solution is very quick at easily changing the levels of protection for each computer and the server."
"CylancePROTECT is a fairly decent antivirus."
"It secures different entry points into the network."
"I like the AI and mathematical components that they use."
"Specifically for a Windows domain environment, the product can be customized and pushed via GPO or SCCM without issue."
"CylancePROTECT is very stable - we've had no issues with performance and no errors or bugs."
"The deployment and implementation of Kaspersky TOTAL Security for Business are easy to deploy with no difficulties."
"A good aspect of Kaspersky TOTAL Security for Business is that you can deploy it from the server to the end users, and you are able to manage and monitor each and every endpoint, including how it behaves and what things are coming in through a certain endpoint."
"I like the inventory management. I also like behavior detection and exploit prevention."
"Kaspersky TOTAL Security for Business provides central management for protection of devices, mitigating attacks effectively."
"Kaspersky offers a large number of robust default policies, such as USB blockage. I really like this feature."

Cons

"The setup is quite easy. We had appropriate support from the manager. One thing that was missing was the integration part."
"Managing the product should be easier."
"A little bit more automation would be nice."
"For working with the solution, you only really need a web browser, however, we've found that working on Chrome, for example, is horrible."
"Data privacy is a matter of concern. You have to be careful with data privacy, it can be sensitive and Cortex can have most of your access."
"They've been having some issues with updating their endpoint agents, and it has been quite frustrating."
"The dashboard could use some significant improvement, just making it more useful with more information."
"Whenever the tool releases a new version when deploying the product across the organization, I feel like there are some disturbances in the CPU usage after upgrading the tool to the latest version."
"It could have integration with industrial base HMIS or Human Machine Interfaces Solutions."
"The management console needs a little maturity in how it presents data and allows the administrator to drill down or search across systems."
"They could improve on the false positives, reporting and whitelisting features."
"The problem is, for me, sometimes it creeps into the computers and into the servers that we want to get running."
"Having worked with SentinelOne, Cylance is good, however, it probably needs to add a feature similar to SentinelOne's rollback functionality."
"The user interface could be improved, it's very outdated."
"It needs real analysis of quarantined files. The EDR product isn't showing much right now."
"The process of whitelisting a script that you want to be able to run can be a little bit difficult, or awkward."
"The response time could be enhanced."
"The deployment process could be clarified, specifically around the ability to push the security application to clients from the central servers, as we faced issues with this."
"It's been good for months but bad on older endpoints. Only performance issues."
"One significant difference is the lack of on-site support from Kaspersky. Symantec has a local team in Pakistan with representatives I can contact directly for troubleshooting and support. On the other hand, Kaspersky doesn't provide the same level of local resources. If I have an issue, I need to draft an email and send it to a Kaspersky help center."
"What could be improved about Kaspersky TOTAL Security for Business is that many errors appear on the console software, and sometimes I do not know why these errors appear on the console software."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost depends on your chosen license type, like Pro or other licenses."
"The price of the product is not very economical."
"Very costly product."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is quite an expensive solution."
"This is an expensive solution."
"We didn't have to pay any additional fee for the cloud instance. It just came with the renewal, which was nice."
"It's about $55 per license on a yearly basis."
"It is cost-effective compared to similar solutions. It fits for the small businesses through to the big businesses."
"My company is on a yearly CylancePROTECT subscription. Price-wise, the solution is slightly expensive, so I'd rate it as eight out of ten."
"The product cost is about $5, per user, per month."
"Review closely how many endpoints you actually need before buying into a pricing level. Deal and deal with the VAR of your choice."
"The solution provides me with competitive pricing."
"This cost of the license is approximately $5 USD monthly per user."
"Do not get hung up on price. You pay for what you get and expensive will hurt one time, where cheap will hurt forever, especially if you fall victim to a ransom attack, etc."
"Shop around for sure and be assured the price you pay will be close to other solutions available, but even at a slight mark-up from the other solutions, you are getting real endpoint protection versus nothing more than a cheap security blanket that might keep you warm at night."
"Currently, we have competitive pricing for Cylance, which is affordable enough to consider."
"The price is below average."
