Helped to receive and send messages from other organizations. The load carrying capacity should be improved.
Stick to the business case, evaluate strengths of similar products and choose the one that matches your business scenario. BizTalk suffered to take the load (lots of messages in and out) compared to IBM's WebSphere Message Broker. BizTalk was used as a B2B integration tool within an integration project, where seven or more organizations had to communicate with each other within the “Integrated Justice System” for criminal cases, from case registration to legal aid, case closure, punishments, community service, and so on. The other organizations used Message Broker and NPA used BizTalk. Thus, compared to the transmission and load capacity, BizTalk stood second.

Cloud data catalog has streamlined lineage and quality while leaving more automation to improve
I have not explored IDMC's automation capabilities driven by AI and metadata too much at the moment, but it is on the cards. We are basically creating the foundation, as the whole migration has taken place recently and it is still early days. I think Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) is evolving, and as the vendors move forward, they pick up new concepts from each other. I have seen that products leapfrog each other, and from my experience over the years, the big players tend to copy features or add enhancements based on industry trends. I feel whatever the tool does not have now, there is a feedback loop allowing us to request new features, and we continually ask for different ways to do things as we have a pipeline into the product management team. It is difficult to say what additional features I would prefer to see in the next release of IDMC. I would appreciate more automation on the lineage front, with more AI to seamlessly join independent sources and create seamless lineage between different technologies, such as from file into database A into a different database and landing up in a reporting system such as Cognos, Qlik, Qlik Sense, QlikView, or Power BI.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has the best price for the functionalities that you can get."
"The most valuable feature for me is the easy interface; it has a great look and feel, and the functionality is so easy."
"The solution allows the complete governance process, starting from the data quality, those definitions, and it can get the data quality in the EDC."
"What I like best about Informatica MDM is its structured, table-based approach. Unlike Reltio, where data is only visible through the UI and cloud-based, the solution allows access to normalized tables. This means I can directly query and see data in each table. For instance, I can easily get all customer details from the customer table. However, for more complex queries, like seeing all customer interactions with the organization, some SQL knowledge is needed to join different tables and retrieve the details."
"It has good processes and governance."
"The flexibility to interact with many different sources and targets like Oracle, MySQL, Flat Files, Informix, and SAP through PowerExchange, applying different transformations that you can configure in an intuitive way, gives both business and IT teams the opportunity to track the data lineage and also to provide value to the data workflows you create, integrated to feed the MDM solution together with Data Quality processes."
"Informatica Cloud Data Quality was most valuable for our real-time data quality monitoring needs."
"The solution's technical support is pretty good, especially since the turnaround time is good."
"REST API: Excellent for scripting control and reporting mechanisms"

Cons

"The performance (speed) and load carrying capacity should be improved."
"User/group administration could use improvement."
"This is a costly solution."
"If you have to build an entire architecture, or when you compare from end-to-end, and multiple systems will be involved, then the performance of Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services needs improvement because connectivity issues in a complex system affect the performance."
"The initial setup is complex. It isn't easy because it needs a separate server of its own."
"If a new solution has the same features and less investment, it would be worth considering."
"It is more complicated to extract data using the product compared to Visio. The system could display the details on the screen."
"Error analysis becomes difficult as finding the exact location of the error in the logs is challenging."
"I would like to see support for more data sources."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The licensing costs attached to the solution are pretty high, but then, with the cloud model, the prices depend on what it provides for the value of money, which I feel was very high."
"It is cost effective and an easily accessible tool."
"We have licenses, and we are provided with certain particular services in the solution."
"You can purchase licenses for this solution at different intervals. For example, annually or every three years. They recently changed their terms for licensing and now it is more flexible."
"Informatica MDM is a costly solution because it comes as a bundle. They are also globally positioning themselves and are definitely working on very upgraded technologies. If someone wanted to do it on the cloud, they have a lot of flexibility because they upgrade themselves according to the current needs. It definitely comes with a lot of features and that's the reason why it's costly. The licensing cost should be approximately one million dollars. It's about four to five times that of other vendors."
"It's pretty high for us. It's more on the higher side, like low to middle high."
"A yearly subscription is paid based on the number of people using the solution. Price-wise, it falls under the medium range since it is neither very costly nor too cheap."
"It's a costly solution"
