Real-time alerting enhances network monitoring, but interface and network mapping need improvement
The interface is good yet could be improved. There are many elements that could be changed in the interface itself. There should be some sort of chart or alerting within the dashboard. In the overview section, these features are currently absent. When you get an alert, you must go to notifications, then within the device to identify the issue. It would be beneficial if everything was visible immediately upon logging in to the overview, such as machine performance and other metrics. Regarding the network map and visibility, there are some issues. Many people have mentioned that the network map needs improvement, especially when handling numerous items. Currently, I have everything in place: printers, monitors, laptops, switches, and access points. However, I have three switches showing outside of the loop without explanation. This issue is persistent, not occasional. These switches appear disconnected in the corner, even though they are connected and online according to other platforms. The presentation aspect needs significant improvement. We have government-related clients, and taking a screenshot of the current network mapping to send to them appears unprofessional. Although Auvik Network Management (ANM) provides network mapping, I still need to create my own network diagram to make it presentable for clients.

A powerful service that is very stable and scalable
It's a very powerful service, you have to use your training and understand how to work it. After that, it's very easy to collect and to use. It may be hard to use for the administrators. It's like a Ferrari, if you're a very good driver you'll go to 300 but you have to know how to drive it. If you have a Ferrari but you don't know how to use it, it's not going to be good. Also, it's very important to understand what the customer needs to decide on what kind of products you are going to use, and what product and what solution to implement. I would rate the solution nine out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The in-app remote terminal and alerting system are Auvik's most valuable features."
"We gain a real-time image of the network."
"The most valuable features are the traffic analysis and the network mapping."
"I like Auvik's detailed device dashboards that show everything from uptime to configuration revisions."
"I like Auvik's SNMP capabilities. Seeing all the metrics and analytics in one dashboard is a game-changer. The topology is excellent."
"That network visualization is really cool. I've been working here for a year now, and the first time I saw it I said, "Whoa, this is so cool"... With Auvik, the map is accurate. It is great and always updating. That's definitely one of the best features of Auvik."
"The time-to-value, for me, was almost immediate; once we started implementation, I was able to start seeing stuff even on day one, and by the time we had it fully implemented, I was already seeing value out of it."
"I can see everything that's online. It alerts me when things are offline, which is great."
"My experience with technical support has been perfect."
"My experience with technical support has been perfect."
"The product is excellent."
"My experience with technical support has been perfect."

Cons

"There have been times when our SNMP community strings were incorrect or weren't updated for whatever reason, and Auvik kept trying to scan them. Changing it was a pain, and there wasn't a way to extract that from Auvik. I understand there are valid security reasons why we wouldn't want to do that sometimes. In those situations, we had to recreate those community strings and reapply them to various devices."
"The solution doesn't reduce repetitive low-priority tasks through automation as much as we had hoped."
"I would like Auvik to offer an alternative method for backing up devices that don't support or have SNMP disabled, since currently, SNMP seems to be a prerequisite for any functionality in Auvik."
"When we deal with larger networks, the current interface is difficult to navigate around the network map because of the volume of devices."
"Price sensitivity is an issue in the country where we use Auvik because of our exchange rate. It would be helpful if they could offer a slightly more affordable price in this region. I'd also like to see Auvik introduce more AI-driven features."
"I would like to see improvement in terms of its integration with other applications and systems."
"Scheduling maintenance would be much easier if there was a dedicated section readily visible on each client's main page."
"I wish their bandwidth monitoring were more real-time than it currently is."
"The presentation of the features can be improved."
"The presentation of the features can be improved."
"The presentation of the features can be improved. It can be more user-friendly for the visual part of the portal and to allow the customer to be able to use."
"However, the license is expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing of Auvik is good. If it could be less, that would be even better, but as long as they offer free devices, that is great."
"The pricing for Auvik Network Management (ANM) is great; it is comparable to other solutions, and for what it does, it actually provides more value for the money than some of the other major competitors."
"Auvik's pricing is very competitive compared to other network management solutions."
"Auvik's pricing is generally reasonable."
"They're very competitive on the pricing front. They may not be the least expensive, but they're certainly not the most expensive. They're right in a sweet spot. For our organization, at least, it was right within the budget."
"Auvik is definitely one of the more expensive platforms. It is not cheap at all. If cost is an issue, Auvik isn't on the table at all, but they do have a fantastic solution for the cost. If budget isn't a concern, they are probably the market leader. We migrated away from it to a competitor called Domotz because of pricing. Auvik bills per what they call a billable device, which is a firewall, a switch, and a controller. All of those count as billable devices. Domotz, as an alternative, bills per site. It's a flat fee for the whole site. So, whether you've got 3 switches or 10 switches, it's the same cost."
"Auvik's pricing is fair overall, but some advanced stuff is a little expensive. I like that the licensing model is based on switches instead of endpoints. We don't use some of the more advanced features because they're a little beyond our price range. We're using the tool internally, but the expense is passed on to the customer, and the advanced features aren't something that most customers are willing to pay for."
"Auvik is not cheap. They've done a great job, it's a developed product, but you pay for it. When you compare, it's definitely in the upper-tier of pricing."
"The license is expensive."
