Accommodates diverse use cases and effectively meets customer requirements
AI agents need further improvements. AI agent technology in agentic process automation is still evolving. We have only scratched the surface, and there are many potential use cases yet to be explored. As technology advances, I believe it will enable us to implement more comprehensive automation solutions. Document Automation has issues related to speed. When I compare Document Automation with IQ Bot, IQ Bot is faster than Document Automation. My understanding is that they are still evolving Document Automation, and this issue of slowness will be resolved in the upcoming .35 version, so we are good with that. They are working on signature identification and validations for handwritten documents. Currently, we are able to extract data out of scanned but digital images, but there is still scope for improvement for handwritten documents.

Design studio enables effective automation while licensing needs improvement
I noticed that it lacks the ability to automatically record the process steps like some of its competitors. Having this capability could accelerate the process. The delivery methodology felt somewhat waterfall in style and not sufficiently agile. Additionally, the licensing model was somewhat prohibitive. It was not developed in a consumption-based manner, however, rather in a fixed-price licensing model that did not account for volumes.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Automation has been playing a significant role in every aspect of our institution."
"It is also easy to design and implement, even for business users who don't have technical skills. A little bit of training is required, about five to seven days, and then they can start. The learning curve is low."
"From an SAP point of view, we have in-built features. They have integrated everything together, so it's much easier for us to use that."
"The training and resources for this tool are very good. They are so simple that anyone can easily learn it. One of the tool values is its ease of use."
"Overall, I would rate Automation Anywhere a nine out of ten."
"There is one user registration process in one application where there is no API which has been published by that framework. This is a very proprietary in one application by a third-party. So, there was a help desk, and whenever a call went to the help desk, they had a front-end where they created these user registrations. Now, this is completely automated for all employees who are onboarded. We receive the data, it is put it into Excel, and from Excel, it will update it into the particular tool where the registration happens."
"It has improved a lot. We could identify a lot of manual processes that can be automated for our customers. The scope of automation by using Automation Anywhere has become wonderful. IQ Bot and AI sense are the incredible features provided."
"We got the solution because of its ease of use with the API call, avoiding the use of developers."
"I find the design studio, where I can build the automation, and the control room feature, which allows me to run and monitor the automation, to be the most useful."
"Some important features include the language capabilities, which are crucial since RPA has to read the documents provided by the customer."
"The key feature of SS&C that I find valuable is the general workflow visibility."

Cons

"I would like to see extensive OCR capabilities in the next release."
"Automation Anywhere can improve by implementing a Citrix environment and increasing the stability of tools, such as IQ bot."
"One area requiring improvement is the debugging process. When I use a multi-structure with conditions to switch from one bot to another, successful debugging of the entire process is not feasible. Each bot has to be debugged individually."
"Bots get disconnected from control rooms sometimes without any reason and this takes up a lot of time."
"They could improve the learning curve."
"We have some ERPs tools which are not compatible with Automation Anywhere because they are legacy systems. We find that Automation Anywhere does not work with these at times. Just enabling the usability of Automation Anywhere on some of these legacy ERPs would help us, as we struggle regularly with this issue."
"With Oracle and ServiceNow, there seem to be challenges. With SAP, it worked very well."
"Automation tools have a lot of dependency on the environment, particularly on machines. Reducing this dependency could increase success."
"I noticed that it lacks the ability to automatically record the process steps like some of its competitors."
"There is a need for improved integration with external systems in SS&C."
"Blue Prism is more costly than UiPath in terms of robotic licenses and orchestrators."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"They recently launched a Community Edition, which is okay, but they should have done this a long time ago."
"The solution's pricing is pretty decent."
"They all are very competitive today. At the end of the day, it boils down to the negotiations that happen and what type of partner you are."
"The cost for scalability is much cheaper than developing a new system."
"We are a partner of Automation Anywhere and find the pricing to be reasonable."
"Automation Anywhere's pricing falls within the mid-range, but the long-term benefits outweigh the initial investment."
"We were required to purchase licenses and bot runners, which determined the permissible run times for the bots."
"Our company is investing a lot of money in Automation Anywhere. They have saved money wherever humans are working. They invest a lot of money in FTEs and other logistics, so the money saving is very pretty good with Automation Anywhere. While I don't know the exact figure, the tool is saving us millions of dollars as well as saving about 40,000 hours in the last year."
