The features I use in Cisco Duo include Duo Pushes to confirm my identity to the device, and eventually as MFA security was increased, I actually had to use exchange passcodes. Sometimes, I have to go into the site and get into Cisco Duo to retrieve the passcode, and many of them have been two-factor, where the sites send a passcode that I have to enter into Cisco Duo. It has been more of the latter. I have not seen issues with lagging or crashing on Cisco Duo's end; it was usually on the client end, often because someone set up a bad upgrade or there were connection issues with the Cisco Duo cloud through the administrative site.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Avoids man in the middle or man in the browser exploits that other two factor products are susceptible to."
"You can do online and offline authentication."
"Cisco Duo is quick to deploy and easy to start."
"My total rating for Cisco Duo is ten out of ten."
"I appreciate the features that Cisco Duo offers."
"Cisco Duo is a simple and effective tool that gives detailed information about users who connect to your domain."
"It is very easy for users to enroll, and there are a lot of insights that we get from using the app on devices that people use to authenticate."
"It is really scalable. It is easy once you get an application in. You can import users from Active Directory and enroll users really fast."
"It is a good solution for hybrid environments and VPN."

Cons

"I got a few error messages which turned out to be themselves errors."
"Regarding the stability and reliability of the Cisco Duo solution, we have experienced some outages over the last few years that are significant because people can't log in."
"An improvement for Cisco Duo would be a simplification of the licensing model since it's quite complicated to know what's included or not, especially now as it's part of Cisco Secure User Suite, and there are many modifications happening regarding the licensing."
"Certain customers can not use this product because it is cloud-based."
"From an administrative standpoint, I'd love to see it be a little better at remembering a device and location so that I don't have to continually authenticate. That's pretty much it."
"There is another issue with removing the application from your computer. It is difficult to remove the application on Windows."
"Duo Security should better organize its tile feature to organize applications better."
"It is easy to use when logging in, but at times, there's a delay in getting the pop-up on a phone, requiring users to occasionally retry authentication depending on backend services."
"Removing the need for a password would be a positive change as well as the ability to cover all the different enterprise applications. They don't have coverage for everything."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It's very simple. Its price is fair. We use the hardware tokens as well. You get what you pay for. In terms of licensing, Cisco has very complicated products, but Duo Security was surprisingly easy."
"I haven't seen it in a while, but it's at par with everything else licensing-wise."
"It has a fair pricing model. I know they have different tiers, but it would be nice to have different types of licenses for certain groups of users in our organization. That way, we wouldn't have to lump everybody into one group. That would be also one complaint."
"The cost was reasonable. Licensing was pretty straightforward for a change."
"It was very reasonable."
"From a business perspective, it is a little bit costly. The licensing is on a per-user basis."
"Overall, the pricing is fair. Customers can wrap it into their Enterprise Agreement, making it easier for them to solve their issues."
"Their pricing model is a little bit weird. Currently, there is no price advantage in signing up for yearly contracts. There are no additional costs to the standard licensing costs."
