Backup has protected our office data and now restores individual emails while admins configure settings
Although Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 is a Backup as a Service, it should give slight leverage to the admins to do more of their own configurations. When it comes to Software as a Service, we do need to agree on certain things, as we do not have much control over the software. If Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 can improve, it would be better. It could be slightly better, but it is acceptable. As long as support is provided in a timely manner, it is good. I cannot tell it is fully bad or fully good. If I were to give a rating of one to five, I might give 3.5 to four. Rather than giving a help database, which is an ocean of information to search through ourselves, we should be able to open a ticket and have them guide us on how to do it. As an end-user, different levels of admins exist—a fresh admin and a more experienced admin. They need to encourage us to open a ticket quickly, and from there they should guide us straightforwardly with the steps to follow to achieve the desired outcome.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In terms of data recovery, both the performance and reliability have been excellent."
"The data application is working well, and it does manage to match data when using the data option."
"It’s amazing how the solution helps restore old data."
"Backup and replication are the most valuable features."
"The tool is easy to use and straightforward regarding restoration and creating backups. It's user-friendly, providing results and sending alerts when something goes wrong."
"Veaam Backup has recently added MS Teams to the programs they cover, which was a big improvement."
"The solution is easy to use and stable and can be made to fit one's needs."
"It is a really good and intuitive solution; Veeam has developed a fantastic product, and I've never seen anything that I don't like about Veeam."
"We have seen an ROI, we have been saved from incidents by this solution many times, we've avoided corruption of data, and we are not losing time thinking about how data could be protected."
"I have used the technical support a few times and they've been reasonably helpful."

Cons

"There are limitations with new hardware where it does not support failover and does not support the three-star bank group."
"They should include the capability to back up on-premises environments."
"In the next release, it should have direct export to tape drive abilities and NDMP support."
"The product cannot back up Active Directory objects while its competitors can. Self-service power enables us to deal with service providers. We provide services for our clients, so having a multi-tenant service portal would be good."
"The pricing model is unnecessarily confusing and could be simplified."
"It needs to be able to integrate with other emailing systems, like Linux."
"The solution announced many features two years ago, and they still have not happened, so I would hope that the next release has these ready to go."
"We have found that there is a limitation in this solution where it only takes the backup of users who are using Office 365 Enterprise email IDs. We have many users in management and approximately 50 other users who are using Office 365 of which Veeam is able to capture the backup. However, for the other users who are on the local email server at that time, the solution is not able to capture the backup."
"In some instances, a customer is not necessarily backing up Microsoft 365. For instance, they might be backing up a large Oracle database. It would be nice if they could tweak it to compress the file, so it's easier to transfer a huge file."
"If one administrator wants to delete something in 365, another admin must approve it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The SaaS platform offers many benefits; the licensing structure is suitable for monitoring and controlling users' storage space."
"Its cost is pretty high. I would rate it a three out of five in terms of pricing."
"The pricing is middle-of-the-road compared with competing products."
"We looked at a few cloud options. When we did the comparison, we found it to be a cost-effective solution, and it included everything."
"For the number of users and amount of storage you receive, it is not expensive."
"I think it's a fair price. It's around $36 per user, so I think it's a fair price for our customers."
"Its price is a little bit high, but it is a fantastic solution. It is more expensive than NetApp."
"There is a license required for this solution and we pay annually."
"It is an expensive product, and there is an additional cost involved in purchasing hardware. I rate the pricing an eight out of ten."
