Backup has protected our office data and now restores individual emails while admins configure settings
Although Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 is a Backup as a Service, it should give slight leverage to the admins to do more of their own configurations. When it comes to Software as a Service, we do need to agree on certain things, as we do not have much control over the software. If Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 can improve, it would be better. It could be slightly better, but it is acceptable. As long as support is provided in a timely manner, it is good. I cannot tell it is fully bad or fully good. If I were to give a rating of one to five, I might give 3.5 to four. Rather than giving a help database, which is an ocean of information to search through ourselves, we should be able to open a ticket and have them guide us on how to do it. As an end-user, different levels of admins exist—a fresh admin and a more experienced admin. They need to encourage us to open a ticket quickly, and from there they should guide us straightforwardly with the steps to follow to achieve the desired outcome.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The data application is working well, and it does manage to match data when using the data option."
"In terms of data recovery, both the performance and reliability have been excellent."
"For data security, we rely on Veeam Backup for Teams and it is quite effective."
"The solution is easy to use; it's very simple and clients find it very easy to find all objects and things they need with the Veeam Explorer."
"The solution is stable and reliable."
"I want an additional copy of my data in the Office cloud and it works."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the replication functionality."
"When we did the comparison, we found it to be a cost-effective solution, and it included everything."
"It’s amazing how the solution helps restore old data."
"The setup is very simple. It takes 15 minutes."

Cons

"There are limitations with new hardware where it does not support failover and does not support the three-star bank group."
"They should include the capability to back up on-premises environments."
"If you use a device to back up with compression and duplication, the solution doesn't work."
"Veaam Backup can be confusing for customers when they start trying to understand how to use the product in multiple environments."
"The initial setup is a bit complex."
"You can't really edit. For example, if you have created a backup for a user, you can't drill down on a granular level during the backup."
"It requires quite an amount of infrastructure. You have to set up the instance, and you need to know quite a bit about Microsoft 365 authentication. For some customers, it is a challenge."
"If Veeam could offer backup as a service for data backup and recovery, that would be great. We'd like something like what Druva is offering at the moment."
"We attempted to use it for our DRP, however, we found it too expensive and complex, so we decided to use it just for backup."
"They should improve the backup and restoration time."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The SaaS platform offers many benefits; the licensing structure is suitable for monitoring and controlling users' storage space."
"Veaam Backup is licensed per mailbox, which customers like because it's per user and so they don't have to pay for shared mailboxes."
"The cost is a bit on the high side."
"This is not a stand-alone product and requires a standard Veeam license for your organization in addition to the cost of the solution."
"The licensing price is quite high. It's expensive."
"From our perspective in South Africa, our biggest challenge is the exchange rate from the South African currency to the US dollar. This makes it a bit pricey for us. However, compared to other backup solutions available, I would rate the pricing at a nine out of ten. For the servers, features, and functionality you get, it's worth the money. Of course, we'd always prefer things to be cheaper, but we also understand that you have to pay for proper functionality. So overall, it's not badly priced at all."
"The pricing is middle-of-the-road compared with competing products."
"There is an annual license required and a per-user fee for this solution."
"Its cost is pretty high. I would rate it a three out of five in terms of pricing."
