Amazon AWS and Netlify are competitive platforms in cloud services and web hosting. AWS has the edge in scalability and flexibility, benefiting larger enterprises, while Netlify's simplicity and targeted features make it appealing for developers focusing on frontend deployment.
Features: AWS offers computing power, flexible storage solutions, and machine learning tools that provide extensive integration and customization. Netlify focuses on automated builds, serverless functions, and continuous deployment, providing a streamlined experience for modern web development.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Netlify offers an intuitive deployment model with automatic updates and a user-friendly interface, which is less complex than AWS's deployment processes that require technical expertise. AWS provides robust customer support tailored to enterprise demands, while Netlify's support is specialized to cater to developers and smaller teams.
Pricing and ROI: AWS utilizes a pay-as-you-go pricing model with volume discounts, which benefits businesses optimizing their cost patterns. Netlify presents a transparent, tiered pricing structure that is attractive to small teams and developers, with considerable free tiers. AWS potentially offers better ROI for expansive, customizable projects, whereas Netlify offers value for smaller projects due to straightforward pricing and quick deployments.
Time saved is exponential because the amount of work that gets done in a sprint is accelerated because of Netlify Platform.
It already improved the developer experience and also the client experience with us, and even the management experience and the testing experience.
There was a lot of money saved, as we were building the application from scratch and paying employees using our own technical skills to build the application.
Reaching out to them and talking is different from receiving a complete solution to your problem.
We have a direct line to Amazon AWS, with premium support and AWS members located within the company.
My impressions of Amazon AWS technical support are that they are quite knowledgeable and professional.
However, I see there are options for AI and customer service; before going to customer service, we can select the AI and get help most of the time, as everything is documented.
The response was timely and helpful, and the issues were resolved efficiently.
Netlify Platform's customer support is excellent.
The scalability of Amazon AWS is excellent.
Amazon AWS provides strong scalability features, but the scaling process could be made more straightforward.
When setting up resources, the maximum limit can go high or low, at which time instances are increased, which helps maintain latency standards.
The performance stays consistent globally.
There are no issues regarding scalability.
It helps you avoid any errors or bugs in the application, which helps you fix errors too, with automatic testing rather than manual testing.
If I am spinning up any managed service from the console, sometimes it fails to start up, and there will be no information about why it failed.
In terms of scalability, it scales very well and easily handles increased traffic, more projects, and growing team usage without any additional infrastructure effort from our side.
It's completely, in my view, 100% stable and always available.
Netlify Platform is generally stable, and I have not experienced significant downtime or issues.
Amazon AWS could improve its user interface to make it more user-friendly, especially for people who are not highly technical.
When using scripts for APIs to fetch data, they don't match the data exactly with the request.
If I create a Glue job, that will create S3 buckets and other resources that have cost implications, but once I clean up a Glue job, it does not delete the other accessory resources.
Additionally, more advanced monitoring and logging features inside the platform would be very useful for troubleshooting.
You can add integrations such as API services and a secret service so that users do not have to manage environment variables manually through the GUI or web service.
The improvement must be a powerful back-end support like APIs and databases.
After three to four years, if you are not managing it correctly, you will be paying more than an on-premise solution, which applies to all cloud providers, so you must regularly maintain and manage for efficiency.
Currently, Amazon AWS is known to be on the higher price range because popular and in-demand services often come at a premium.
We recommend it for deployment to clients who cannot afford larger budgets for Vercel or AWS.
Since I use the free tier, there is no question about pricing or setup costs.
It was just a monthly subscription.
Amazon AWS provides IAM features for user access management as well as KMS through key management service with private and public key encryption methodology.
The most important feature that I rely on most is S3. It serves as a centralized and highly scalable storage solution for datasets.
Amazon AWS offers flexibility and scalability.
The best feature of Netlify Platform is how easily I am able to integrate it with GitHub and GitLab, along with how user-friendly it is.
I have used multiple plugins within it, and they are quite easy to use, such as adding environment variables, adding secrets, and adjusting the size of the hosted application, which means the memory, CPU, and virtual CPU memory are very convenient for me to manage.
When it comes to the new modern frameworks, all the other platforms require extra configurations to get deployed into the DNS servers, but using Netlify Platform, it is easy; everything is handled by Netlify Platform in the backend, and the deployment process and all the CI/CD pipeline that Netlify Platform handles is something which is good in regard to the modern frameworks which are used nowadays.
