What needs improvement with Netlify Platform?

Netlify Platform is very helpful for deploying and hosting modern web applications, especially for beginners and small projects. The interface is clean and deployment from Git repositories is very easy. However, there are a few areas where it could improve.

One weakness is that the free plan has several limitations, such as build minutes and bandwidth limits, which can become restrictive for students or small developers working on multiple projects. It would be great if Netlify provided slightly higher limits or special plans for students.

Another issue is that build errors and deployment logs can sometimes be difficult to understand for beginners. More beginner-friendly error explanations or troubleshooting suggestions would make it easier for new developers to fix problems quickly.

The documentation is good, but some advanced features like serverless functions, environment variables, and redirects can still be confusing. More step-by-step examples or tutorials would help users understand these features better.

In future versions, I would like to see better debugging tools, improved free-tier limits, and clearer guidance for beginners. Overall, Netlify is a great platform, but these improvements could make it even more accessible and helpful for students and new developers.

I think Netlify Platform is quite good, and it could focus on developing something for the backend, not just for the frontend. Although I'm not sure if Netlify Platform already offers these options, I've only used it to deploy frontend. I can specify a concrete benefit I noticed when migrating the site from that previous hosting to Netlify Platform, which includes cost reduction, better deployment time, and fewer technical incidents.

When deploying my applications on Netlify Platform, I face some problems like environment variables, especially when I connect my web-based project to my database, and when I have to deploy a full stack web application, then I face a lot of issues regarding those variables, but for front-end, it runs smoothly. From the technology side, I think that every day we have to improve and update ourselves. The features I have been using in Netlify Platform have helped me a lot, but every day it could reach more people, showcase the product more to corporate companies, and to people who have their personal projects. It is a very efficient tool and technology is innovating every year and every day. Improving aspects such as bringing new updates, new improvements, and new tools would be beneficial. Nothing was missing, but the one point missing for it to reach a perfect score is more about the expectation that every day companies, especially technology companies, bring new updates and new improvements. That is why I give it a nine, and that last digit that is missing would be about being in expectation of improvements, new updates, and new services or new products.

During sign-up and sign-in, it sometimes takes two to three days to complete the sign-up process because as a new user, the account is under review. If there is an emergency to deploy a project, the user must wait two days for account approval and cannot log in with those credentials immediately. This aspect is difficult and should be improved. If a user needs account approval-related features, that is a valuable aspect. However, I believe that when a user completes sign-up and email verification, they should be able to log in immediately using an OTP code verification method. When users log in, they can immediately access the Netlify Platform account while also seeing a notification that they need to approve their account. Once they approve, they can enjoy all features. If the account is not approved, they can access some features, but after approval, they can use Netlify Platform completely. This approach would be more secure.

While Netlify Platform mostly works with the front end, I believe it would be better if it provided support for full stack applications, acknowledging the risks and complexities of offering this for free to students.

Netlify Platform could be improved for beginners. I had to watch tutorials to know how to use it when I was a beginner. Adding some direction for beginners on the platform would be helpful, perhaps something they can use to get started. Overall, Netlify Platform is good.

I don't know about needed improvements because we don't need more. However, I think a sidebar with more options could help someone see how they can deploy or how they did deploy with this environment or domain, which could be difficult for other people who haven't used it before. For me, I'm satisfied because I learned how to use it.

I'm not sure how exactly Netlify Platform would be improved because I'm too used to it. I'm using the same tools over and over in a similar way and it's so intuitive at this point that I don't know how it could get improved even further. For a first-time visitor to Netlify Platform, I actually had to check a tutorial on YouTube on how I can upload things and deploy them. Although Netlify Platform makes it easy and with fewer steps, I did it once and then it stuck in my head. I knew where to click and what to do. But as a first-time visitor, me or even my mentees who were trying to upload things, they will face the same kind of confusion that it doesn't click at the first time. I think if you're a newbie to Netlify Platform, you are going to be avoiding documentation. For me, later on when I'm checking the documentation, everything is clear already. So, the part that needed more attention was that first-time users might feel a bit of a hiccup when they're using it and they wouldn't understand how to do it. But as they do it for the first time, then it will be easy enough for them. Any other feedback, I don't think I have because it's been just working great for me.

For my particular use cases, Netlify Platform has no room for improvement, and I am very happy with it in terms of reliability, speed, cost, and capability.

I do not have any specific feedback for improvement regarding these features. I think Netlify Platform can add some generative AI services. Recently, generative AI has been improved and has been trending in the market. Netlify Platform can add generative AI to create documentation and work on backend SaaS services. You can add integrations such as API services and a secret service so that users do not have to manage environment variables manually through the GUI or web service. Netlify Platform can access the environment variables and create a secret service so that users do not have to manually provide this information. There are areas of improvement. I do not know about recent improvements that Netlify Platform has made related to generative AI, but adding those generative AI features would help it trend in the market. I have not seen or heard about any generative AI features provided by Netlify Platform.

I think the technical side of Netlify Platform can improve, especially in the documentation. They can add more information about new frameworks as they come into the platform or market. They should maintain a troubleshooting page on Netlify Platform docs that comprehensively shows all the steps. Adding more user-friendly animations or navigation would make the platform easier. Moreover, with the documentation, it currently shows all the tabs at one place, and the customer should understand what each use is without having to click into it. They should support more old frameworks as well, to increase the range of utilizations since mostly old frameworks are still in the market, prompting more users to migrate to Netlify Platform.

Netlify Platform can improve by collaborating with different repository management platforms, which would make holding the CI/CD pipeline much easier. While it has integration with some platforms, a few are left out, such as Bitbucket, which Netlify has not done yet. If this were done correctly, it could be a very easily achievable thing for one person. The pricing of Netlify Platform is acceptable for beginners but can become costly for intermediate users, as it can be high when CPU usage goes beyond a certain amount. While it is good, it could be reduced a little for companies spending this much on platforms that are not in production yet, though it is acceptable when in production.

I think Netlify Platform can be improved if it has the functionality to have a full back-end as well. I love Netlify Platform. I just want one thing: the ability to do everything in the same application. Currently, I have to use Render or something else for the deployment of my back-end, but if it can deploy the back-end as well, I would really appreciate it.

Netlify Platform could be improved if they hosted their independent services apart from GitHub. There are many cloud containers and services like AWS and Microsoft, and connecting with cloud services would make it more efficient. It could be a good efficient platform to host bigger and better services for clients with good spread across the UAE and other small regions in Asia. Cloud services should be connected to Netlify Platform. It is a hosting platform which provides services online and helps host web services. If cloud could be connected to Netlify Platform, which could help host a different web server with security, that would keep it from a perfect 10.

I have been observing Netlify Platform improving a lot, noticing a couple of new features every three to six months. However, I would love to see Netlify evolve as a cloud provider. While it also helps with backend deployment, it is not as scalable as AWS or Azure, and I would love to see and explore more features in the future around it.

Regarding improvements for Netlify Web Development Cloud, I find that documentation and everything is not required to have much improvement as they are easily understandable for beginner levels.
