Managed analytics has freed our engineers to focus on real-time dashboards and deeper insights
Their best features include fully managed ClickHouse, their ClickHouse expertise, their customer support team, and the flexible deployment options they offer. Scaling is easier, and they provide multi-cloud support, allowing us to deploy on AWS, GCP, or Azure in any region. The biggest benefit and major difference created for our team comes from using their fully managed ClickHouse infrastructure, which eliminates the need to manage cluster provisioning, upgrades, backups, and monitoring ourselves. As a result, our team spends more time building analytics and dashboards while benefiting from a reliable, high-performance database with minimal operational overhead. Another valuable feature worth mentioning about Altinity.Cloud is their ClickHouse expertise; they are very skilled in how to optimize and how well we can extract performance from ClickHouse. Altinity.Cloud has had a positive impact on our organization by simplifying the management of our analytics infrastructure. It has reduced the operational effort required to run ClickHouse, improved the query performance for large data sets, and enabled our team to deliver dashboards and analytics faster. As a result, our engineers spend less time on database maintenance and more time building features and analyzing business data and their outcomes. Some of the measurements we have seen from using Altinity.Cloud include fifty to sixty percent less time spent on database administration. We do not need to handle provisioning, ClickHouse version upgrades, backups, or monitoring; those are all managed by Altinity. Additional outcomes include significantly faster analytics queries, faster deployment of the analytics environment, lower operational costs, and higher engineering productivity.

I do not use AWS as my main cloud provider within the company and am not currently using it with AWS. My company did not buy it through the AWS Marketplace as I'm the founder of the company. I do not use BigQuery's integration with Google Analytics for custom behavior analysis. I have not utilized the geospatial analysis capabilities with BigQuery as I'm doing mostly human capital work, so geospatial wouldn't make sense. I would rate their service on a scale of one to 10 for Google as ten. I would rate BigQuery as nine out of 10. My experience with the pricing for BigQuery was through a grant from Google. Their pricing is fairly priced and pretty comparable to Microsoft's offering. I haven't had direct experience, but I did look at the pricing of the Microsoft offering and it's pretty similar. I do not deal with Google AI tools such as Vertex.

Pros

"The best features Altinity.Cloud offers include that it is a fully managed database as a service, it is also fully open source so it is very good to access, there are flexible deployments, there is easy integration with some third-party tools such as Kafka, and it also has very good monitoring tools."
"Altinity.Cloud has had a positive impact on our organization by simplifying the management of our analytics infrastructure, reducing the operational effort required to run ClickHouse, improving the query performance for large data sets, and enabling our team to deliver dashboards and analytics faster so our engineers spend less time on database maintenance and more time building features and analyzing business data and their outcomes."
"The product's most valuable features include its scalability and the ability to handle complex queries on large datasets."
"The most valuable features of this solution, in my opinion, are speed and performance, as well as cost-effectiveness."
"The feature called calibrating the capacity is valuable."
"As a cloud solution, it's easy to set up."
"The product is serverless. We only need to write SQL queries to analyze the data. We need to pay based on the number of queries. The retrieval time is very less. Even if you write large queries, the tool is able to bring back data in a few seconds."
"BigQuery has a very nice interface that you can easily learn if you know SQL."
"The solution's reporting, dashboard, and out-of-the-box capabilities match exactly our requirements."
"We can analyze terabytes of data in a very small amount of time."

Cons

"Some of the areas we found for improving Altinity.Cloud include simpler pricing with better costs as the cluster scales and a more intuitive management UI for new ClickHouse users."
"I have not seen a return on investment."
"I noticed recently it's more expensive now."
"It would be better if BigQuery didn't have huge restrictions. For example, when we migrate from on-premises to on-premise, the data which handles all ebook characters can be handled on-premise, but in BigQuery, we have huge restrictions."
"Although BigQuery is completely managed on cloud, one has to use many services of BigQuery and GCP in order to create the end-to-end data setup."
"The product’s performance could be much faster."
"They could enhance the platform's user accessibility."
"As a product, BigQuery still requires a lot of maturity to accommodate other use cases and to be widely acceptable across other organizations."
"It can be slower and more problematic compared to other platforms such as Snowflake."
"With what I have seen in BigQuery, I had some response times problems, but then it is an analytical database and not a transactional database, so it comes with eventual consistency."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Its cost structure operates on a pay-as-you-go model."
"1 TB is free of cost monthly. If you use more than 1 TB a month, then you need to pay 5 dollars extra for each TB."
"We are above the free threshold, so we are paying around 40 euros per month for BigQuery."
"Price-wise, I think that is very reasonable."
"The product operates on a pay-for-use model. Costs include storage and query execution, which can accumulate based on data volume and complexity."
"The pricing is good and there are no additional costs involved."
"The pricing is adaptable, ensuring that organizations can tailor their usage and costs based on their specific requirements and configurations within the Google Cloud Platform."
"BigQuery pricing can increase quickly. It's a high-priced solution."
