Great features that enabled us to reduce hardware at our on-prem sites
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution offers great features."
  • "NVMe support is lacking when it comes to performance on the disk side."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution to reduce the use of our old classic server storage infrastructure and replace it with hyperconverged infrastructure. I'm the IT team head of infrastructure EEMEA.

What is most valuable?

Choosing this solution was one of the best things we've done in years. We changed to SimpliVity because of its features, and we were able to reduce the hardware in our on-prem data centers.

What needs improvement?

I think one of the missing things is the NVMe support when it comes to performance on the disk sides. Hardware Node has SSD Disks and not NVME Modules for Disks as an option to increase the IOPs.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good, you can start small and expand.

How are customer service and support?

We've used customer support when we needed to change IP addresses or when there were problems with a firmware update or any security issues. The support is great, I give them top marks.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We've previously used several different hardware vendors including IBM, Dell, and other solutions that are available in our region.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy and we have between 200 and 300 users internationally.

What about the implementation team?

We use both vendor team and in-house team

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Everything we have is under warranty. In some countries we have a five-year contract and in others a three-year contract.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Checking different Vendor before taking this solution

What other advice do I have?

We've found the HPE marketing slides to be helpful. I rate this solution nine out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
