A good aspect is their manageability, with options for both managed and unmanaged modes. The TP-Link Omada Switches are generally faster than other brands, such as Hikvision or similar Chinese brands.
What is our primary use case?
What needs improvement?
Other switches often lack sufficient ports, particularly for fiber connections like SFP modules. For instance, a 24-port LAN switch might only include a limited number of SFP ports, typically just four. More switches with a higher number of SFP ports are needed to better accommodate various networking requirements.
Having more SFP ports would benefit us, clients, and system integrators. Additionally, as technology evolves, devices with advanced features, like those offered by DeepLink, will become increasingly valuable. DeepLink regularly updates and improves its range of network switches and access points, offering enhanced capabilities each year.
They need to streamline the device reset process. For instance, resetting an Omada access point currently involves about seven steps. Improving this process to make it faster and simpler would be beneficial, as the current method takes too long.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using TP-Link Omada Switches as a system integrator for two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The product is 100% stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
In terms of scalability and reliability, TP-Link Omada Switches offer a range of up to at least 300 meters for switch-to-switch connections. For reliability, TP-Link’s support team is available through DeepLink Commander, which provides guidance and assistance when needed. We often recommend TP-Link over brands like Hikvision due to past client experiences with issues related to Hikvision switches. Switching to TP-Link has effectively resolved those problems.
How was the initial setup?
It is easy to deploy. On its official website, it provides updated software and versions for its switches. However, it can take a longer time to deploy. One person is enough, depending on the number of switches.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It is expensive compared to some Chinese brands, but they offer superior reliability and scalability.
I rate the product’s pricing as seven out of ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive.
What other advice do I have?
More software and firmware versions for Omada products are available and searchable online. As system integrators, we can also assist with maintenance remotely via the cloud, allowing us to support your site from our office.
We use various software solutions, including Hikvision brands connected to Hikvision switches. TP-Link switches are compatible, and we haven't experienced significant issues. If there are concerns about integrating with other software or third-party systems, TP-Link handles these integrations well.
Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.
