What is our primary use case?
Previously, the main purpose was for e-commerce. They implemented features like placing orders and searching orders. They used Oracle Endeca extensively for searching the products, and Oracle ATG for creating a user interface where customers could place orders.
How has it helped my organization?
Previously, it used to serve the purpose in terms of reaching new markets, new business, and new customers. The business grew as a result.
What is most valuable?
The two main features were searching and placing orders. The search had extended functionality, allowing searches with product code, subcategories, barcode, partial descriptions, etc.
What needs improvement?
ATG is not evolving much, and there's a huge license cost. Finding people with this skill set in the market has become difficult. Customizing the product was also problematic, affecting its suitability for new business directions.
For how long have I used the solution?
Currently, my organization is at the initial requirement analysis and gathering phase for Oracle Fusion ERP.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
With changing use cases, the organization wanted more features, ease of maintenance, cost savings, and scalability. The decision to move away from the previous solution was influenced by these factors.
How are customer service and support?
Initially, we had support requests with Oracle. As we matured and learned the product, the number of support requests decreased significantly. The support was satisfactory.

The solution previously used was Oracle Commerce Cloud. The decision to switch was influenced by changing business requirements, high license costs, and difficulty finding skilled personnel.

The initial setup of the on-premises solution took about six months from inception to production, with minimal customizations and third-party integrations.
What about the implementation team?
I was involved in the ATG implementation and conducted POCs on Commerce Cloud. The implementation depended on having knowledge of the tool.
What was our ROI?
Initially, it helped increase business revenue and reach new customers. Over time, the solution became less suitable due to evolving business needs and high costs.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The operational expenditure was considered too high, and there was a need for cost savings. Open source solutions offered more economical and scalable options.

The organization evaluated custom solutions and open-source platforms to replace Oracle Commerce Cloud.
What other advice do I have?
If a business is small with fewer customizations and integrations, Oracle Commerce Cloud is suitable. For larger businesses with more integrations, consider other platforms.
