What is our primary use case?
Adobe Creative Cloud for Business has around 20-22 different applications as part of it. Although the suite has the full range of products that most customers need, the suite is divided and has applications from Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. It has products that deal with UI/UX, photography, videography, print and publication. A wide range of segments is catered by a single suite product. Although many of these users could benefit from separate options, because there is only one suite option from Adobe, there is no separate product suite for a photography customer or a videography customer. Although Adobe sells all these online as separate options, for business users in India, there is no option to split up the suite.
What is most valuable?
The products that are consumed to the maximum within Adobe Creative Cloud for Business are probably Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator. These are the three main set of products that are consumed widely and can be used for a wide range of applications from UI design.
Adobe Creative Cloud for Business is a suite of different applications that comes with Firefly, which is an AI tool. Previously, if you took an image in Photoshop and wanted to make edits, most of the edits had to be done manually through selecting areas and making changes. With Firefly, you can prompt to make changes and it has become much faster than before.
Adobe Stock integrated with Adobe Creative Cloud for Business is also something that is used by a lot of companies. Although there are many options in the market other than Adobe Stock, the advantage of using Adobe Stock is that you can call a particular kind of creative asset within a particular application. For example, if a user is using Photoshop, they can call assets within Photoshop while working on a particular project and retrieve assets relevant to Photoshop. This makes it much easier for people to sort through data that is relevant to their particular project because they are calling it directly from within the project. The other important aspect of Stock is that it is all royalty free, which means that if you use any of their assets, you will not be infringing on any royalty that is part of somebody else's asset. Firefly is indemnified by Adobe up to $10,000, which means that if you create an image or a video using a prompt, Adobe will ensure that the asset you have created is unique to you and is indemnified by Adobe up to $10,000 US dollars. In that sense, it is a safer option than many of the other open tools where the content might be trained on images, videos, audio or text from open-source data, and the final output might have content that is somebody else's copyright.
The key benefits of Adobe Creative Cloud for Business would be collaboration, security, and familiar tools with a user interface that is designed for particular segments and verticals. Familiarity of the product is probably one of the key USPs that Adobe has because there was no competition for these set of products in the market until now. People who have training or who have studied or who are interested in creating creative content would have probably been trained on some of these Adobe tools. In that sense, it is easier for a company to acquire talent because all the users would know how to work on these tools than on competitive tools. Now competitive tools are coming into the market, but not many people know how a particular function works. Adobe has an upper hand in this regard.
Regarding Adobe Sensei, the AI engine, Adobe has been working on it for a very long period of time. However, it is not as agile as many of the other open tools or AI tools available in the market. The reason for this is that the data that Sensei uses to train its algorithm is not kept permanently within the database. If a client is using Sensei to create AI-based content, the content that you give for reference is stored for a small period of time because Adobe does not want to store any customer data permanently for reasons of privacy. Other AI tools ingest a lot of content that is part of the open market, including books, literature, video, and audio. Because they do not follow the same principles as Adobe, they are much further ahead than Sensei. Sensei has a very long way to go because of the limitations that come from choosing not to keep the data that the model is trained on permanently.
What needs improvement?
Adobe has a pricing policy which is very unusual. They offer the same set of products to an online user at 1/10th the cost while charging the business user a very high premium. Both essentially get the same products and services, which seems very unfair because the large chunk of the market still lies within the business use scenario. As a person who sells the product in the market, one of the biggest challenges we face is price. The price competition is within Adobe itself. They have a different price for the online user and a different price for the business user, with no parity between these prices. Although they consume the same set of products and services, if I were to sell an Adobe product worth $100 to a business user, the same product is available online for $10.
Adobe keeps bringing out updates without really testing them on any of the current operating systems. Many customers call back saying that they updated to a certain version and are facing issues, requiring them to roll back. These kinds of issues occur frequently.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been reselling Adobe for more than 15 years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability rating for Adobe Creative Cloud for Business is six to seven on a scale of one to ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability rating for Adobe Creative Cloud for Business is eight on a scale of one to ten.
How are customer service and support?
I would rate Adobe's customer service at five on a scale of one to ten. Adobe can improve because as a business user, we pay almost 10 times more than an online user, but we still do not get any of the services that were promised. If there is an issue, there is chat support available, but there is no instantaneous support that will resolve a particular issue for a company buying Adobe Creative Cloud for Business. The resolution time is still very weak and many times the reseller is the one who supports the end customer.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is not very straightforward. It can be more streamlined. There are many things within Adobe that could make deployment faster and better. However, it is still not very complicated.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
There are many new products now which are coming into competition. Canva is one of the biggest competitors. Canva recently acquired a set of products called Affinity from a company called Serif in the UK. They have Affinity Photo, Affinity Publisher, and Affinity Designer, which are essentially replacements for Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. These are the three main products that Adobe has an upper hand on. These three products have been acquired by Canva and are now free of cost for a Canva user. They do not have to pay money at all. This is definitely a competition because it is free and bundled as part of a package with Canva. Many users do not know how to use it, but because it is free, a lot of people will try and learn how to use it. Those who are not happy with Adobe prices will move on to these kinds of tools for their requirements. Regarding other products like Premiere Pro, there is competition from DaVinci, which is a competitive product used in the industry.
What other advice do I have?
Adobe Creative Cloud for Business is one offering that provides collaboration, security, and familiar tools with a user interface designed for particular segments and verticals. Familiarity of the product is probably one of the key USPs that Adobe has, as there was no competition for these set of products in the market until recently. The Adobe Cloud backend allows all Adobe Creative Cloud for Business applications to store creative files and allow for collaboration within a team. It is not an infrastructure as a service and has nothing to do with cloud infrastructure. My overall rating for Adobe Creative Cloud for Business is seven out of ten.
