Infoblox Network Insight is a powerful tool for discovering and managing network devices, appliances, and resources across your hybrid, multi-cloud network.
Infoblox Network Insight enables you to discover and monitor every network asset through a single pane of glass, allowing you to efficiently and securely manage your assets.
Infoblox Network Insight’s discovery tools collect and manage your network’s device data and provides you with visibility into the information of the state of all discovered network infrastructure devices and discovered IP networks, including:
- Routers
- Firewalls
- Load balancers
- Ethernet L2/L3 switches
- End hosts and networks
- Virtual routing and forwarding
- Virtual networks
- Single and multipoint VPNs
Infoblox Network Insight periodically scans your network for devices and, when necessary, marks them as “unmanaged,” which allows network administrators to isolate and remedy these items or unflag them.
Infoblox allows you to include and exclude networks and IP addresses for discovery scans. You can configure scheduling for any network and define when discovery should take place. You can also define blackout periods in which discovery tasks are not run.
Infoblox performs port reservations by assigning discovered switches and router interfaces to IPAM objects such as IP networks, IP reservations, and host records.
Some of the benefits of using Infoblox Network Insight include:
Effectively manage your network’s diverse devices: Quickly discover and centrally monitor all devices, IP addresses, and switch ports. You can easily schedule recurring discovery based on time, date, and network parameters.
The Infoblox real-time intelligence enables users to:
- Gain visibility into each device and display their context by matching their username to IP and MAC addresses.
- Easily share endpoint data with the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), reducing management overhead.
- Utilize insights to predict future requirements.

-
Comprehensive view of all discovered devices: The Infoblox interface provides you with a table with extensive details of all your discovered devices, including:
- The detected IP address.
- The name of the device which links to a new section with detailed information associated with the device.
- Device type.
- Device model, vendor, version, and serial number.
- The physical location of the network device.
- The managed status of the device.
- The number of active users using the domain.
- A list of networks currently provisioned on the device.
Infoblox allows admins to configure what information is displayed and to edit certain details.
Rapidly identify rogue devices: Discover all devices connected to your network and set up the discovered devices for management or isolation. Infoblox provides you with clear visibility into all network operations, which enables you to:
- Discover and remediate rogue devices on your network.
- Use rich contextual data to quickly identify compromised devices.
- Automatically isolate devices with the Infoblox switch port control.
- Integrate with Cisco ISE’s Rapid Threat Containment to automatically trigger an alert whenever a compromise is detected to increase response times.
Increased productivity: Automated management of your network, IP address and switch ports contributes to your enterprise’s productivity levels and reduces human error.
Central management of your entire network infrastructure enables you to:
Create an agile network infrastructure to better serve your dynamic business requirements.
Improve productivity by quickly onboarding new devices online.
Dynamically assign IP addresses and switch ports to unused IP addresses.
Reduce waste by automatically reclaiming and utilizing unused resources.
Prevent human configuration errors that lead to downtime and troubleshooting expenses.
Discrepancy reporting: Receive reports and remediation recommendations for IPAM created port and IP assignments that have been violated by network usage.
Switch ports reporting: View historical information to help optimize your switch-port resources.
Automate device security and compliance: The Infoblox Network Insight Advisor tool automates compliance and device security and eliminates device vulnerability quickly and easily based on security bulletin vulnerabilities.
Port control: Perform changes to the interface-level configurations of your switches and switch-router devices, and assign resources to IPAM created network objects.
Assign permissions: Use the Infoblox Discovery Admin tool to assign roles based on a pre-configured list of permissions defining which assigned admin accounts can perform discovery tasks. Administrators with the proper permissions can initiate and control discovery on any existing network.
Define blackout periods: Discovery scans can require significant resources within the network. You can schedule any discovery or port control task for any single or recurring time period. Likewise, you can also define time periods when the Network Insight tool does not communicate with devices or networks for discovery.
-
Network provisioning and de-provisioning: You can provision networks and remove or de-provision networks from individual devices. It is also possible to provision networks when creating a network in IPAM.
-
Exclude networks and IP addresses from discover scans: Admins can create a network and opt for it not to discover until further notice, by disabling discovery in the user interface. Admins can also explicitly exclude specific IPs or IP ranges from discovery. Both these options can be reversed in the user interface.
- Conflict Resolution Wizard: Sometimes conflicts arise when defining port reservations for IPAM managed objects like port reservation conflicts, IP or MAC address conflicts, or host record errors. The Conflict Resolution Wizard automatically detects the object associated with the conflict and ensures that fixes are correctly applied to the object.
