Next-Gen Firewall Review – Check Point Edition is a comprehensive technical evaluation of Check Point's Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) capabilities. This project explores key features such as threat prevention, application control, URL filtering, intrusion prevention, and centralized management through SmartConsole. It includes real-world performance testing, policy deployment scenarios, and a usability analysis of the management interface.
If I had to do it again, I would focus more on comparative analysis. While I did a deep dive into Check Point’s capabilities, I would include side-by-side comparisons with other leading NGFW vendors like Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, or Cisco. This would provide a more balanced view and help highlight relative strengths and weaknesses.
Additionally, I would structure more real-world use case simulations—such as integrating with cloud platforms, enabling remote access VPNs, and handling encrypted traffic inspection. This would better reflect how Check Point performs under diverse enterprise scenarios.
Finally, I’d involve more stakeholder feedback, including inputs from SOC teams, network admins, and compliance officers, to give a 360-degree perspective on usability, deployment, and long-term management.
