From 2000 to 2013 it was thought that social media (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, blogs, et cetera) would pose an extreme threat to the IT industry analysts. However, that threat did not materialize as well run analyst firms grew dramatically throughout social media's rise. That said, there are a new set of potential disruptors to analyst influence that IT vendors need to track in order to fine-tune their analyst relations strategy and tactics.
