What is Windows 10?

Windows 10 is one of Microsoft’s most advanced operating systems for personal computers (PCs), tablets, and other similar devices. To date this operating system is active on more than 1.3 billion personal computers worldwide.

Windows 10 has many features that make it arguably the most popular operating system for PCs on the planet. Included in these are a wealth of security features designed to stop malware from compromising both devices and networks. It has integrations for various multifactor authentication as well as non-password-reliant login technologies such as iris scanning. These keep networks safe from the moment that a user logs in. It also has security tools which not only identify, isolate, and remove threats, but also limit the damage that they can cause.

Benefits of Windows 10

Some of the benefits of using Windows 10 include:

  • A wide array of security features that proactively protect your system from malware of all kinds. The Windows Defender Exploit Guard feature constantly scans your system’s background for threats. It identifies, isolates, and removes the malware from your infected network. It can also quarantine infected devices to stave off an outbreak of infection across your network.
  • Allows you to browse the web in a way that protects your network from cyber-threats, enabling you to browse the internet from the confines of a virtual machine. If your device becomes infected, the malware will be unable to spread beyond the virtual machine that it has already infected.
  • The ability to synchronize multiple devices so that you can work from anywhere at any time. Windows 10’s Timeline feature enables you to save your work in a Microsoft application. You can then access this saved work on another Windows 10 device and continue from wherever you left off.

Reviews from Real Users

The Windows 10 operating system stands out from the competition for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to secure users from digital threats and its main app management screen, which gives users the ability to easily manage their applications.

One PeerSpot user who is the founder, president, and COO at an analyst firm, noted Windows 10’s impressive security suite when they wrote, “My impression is that the security via Windows Defender is good enough that I no longer feel a need for another third-party security solution, which had always been the case in the past. I think that perception still holds true.”

Mike K., a collaboration specialist at a comms service provider, takes note of the main app management screen when he writes, “I like the main window pane where you can sort your mostly used and different types of apps, such as OneDrive, Google Chrome, and Access. I can just open up the main window, and those apps are right there at my fingertips.”

A stable and reliable operating system
Pros and Cons
  • "The latest laptop I've got can turn into a tablet. Windows automatically changes to a tablet view — that's been a pretty good feature."
  • "Stability-wise, it's okay. Sometimes my laptop slows down when I have a lot of applications open, but this could be a laptop issue rather than a Windows 10 issue."

What is our primary use case?

I use this solution for general email processing, communication, and collaboration tools like Teams, etc. I am an IT consultant — we all use Windows 10, PowerPoint, and other productivity tools.

What is most valuable?

Just the general ability to run programs has been nice. There isn't anything in particular that jumps out.

The latest laptop I've got can turn into a tablet. Windows automatically changes to a tablet view — that's been a pretty good feature.

As the security patches are pushed out by our IT, I don't even notice when there's a new upgrade required. With the previous versions, you always had to restart your machine quite often in order to perform an upgrade. I don't really notice that so much now.

What needs improvement?

As far as improvement is concerned, nothing particularly comes to mind. It generally works quite well.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 since it was released.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, it's okay. Sometimes my laptop slows down when I have a lot of applications open, but this could be a laptop issue rather than a Windows 10 issue.

How are customer service and support?

I have never had to contact technical support.

How was the initial setup?

Windows 10 was already incorporated into my computer when I bought it. All I had to do was enter my work email address and then it automatically did the rest.

The initial configuration probably takes less than an hour. In the background, it continues to pull more and more data and information through.

Other than any patches that are required, I don't believe there is any maintenance required — not that I'm aware of.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Windows 10 to others. Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 a rating of ten.

A scalable and stable solution that's been around for a long time
Pros and Cons
  • "Windows 10 has a convenient user interface."
  • "The overall performance could be improved — it loads slowly at times."

What is our primary use case?

As a manager, I use Windows 10 daily. We also use Windows Excel and PowerPoint. We mainly use Windows 10 for email-related needs. We also use Microsoft Windows code to do some technical programming.

Within our organization, there are roughly six to seven thousand employees using Windows 10.

We will definitely continue to use Windows 10.

What is most valuable?

Windows 10 has a convenient user interface. Windows has been around for a long time so we're well aware of the features it offers and how to use them properly. From this perspective, it's convenient for me.

What needs improvement?

The overall performance could be improved — it loads slowly at times.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for seven to eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It didn't use to be stable, but nowadays, it is. Still, it could always be more stable.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have never had to contact support relating to Windows 10.

How was the initial setup?

The installation process is straightforward. It pretty much installs automatically.

What about the implementation team?

We installed it ourselves.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 a rating of eight.

I would recommend Windows 10 to others. We use Windows 10 because we were mandated to by our organization. Whether they are capable or not, it doesn't really matter. You'll have to use it because it has been mandated by your organization.

Stable, easy to install, easy to use, and intuitive
Pros and Cons
  • "It works. It is stable, unlike other versions of Windows. It is easy to use and intuitive for the most part."
  • "They could really improve or clarify user account types and stuff. I help people with their Microsoft Windows 10 installations and setups. A lot of times, I pre-configure devices for them, and it is a pain to switch the user so that it shows them as the owner when I've done the initial setup. I have found some workarounds for that, but user management on it outside of a domain is somewhat cumbersome. They probably expected that one person is going to be the management and owner of it, and they seem to have built it that way, but third parties like us, who help friends and family with their setups, can sometimes run into some headaches while trying to help people without having our data loaded over to the machine with the synchronization. Microsoft has a tendency to try and put too much into what is supposed to be just an operating system. I would rather have choices and pick what I want to include. They sometimes cram too much in there."

What is our primary use case?

I have my own personal-owned license on my machines at home. I use it for personal usage as well as for work. I use it to run my software, and I also use it for gaming and managing my baseball card trades and stuff like that.

I am on the developer channel, so I am on one version above the release.

What is most valuable?

It works. It is stable, unlike other versions of Windows. It is easy to use and intuitive for the most part.

What needs improvement?

They could really improve or clarify user account types and stuff. I help people with their Microsoft Windows 10 installations and setups. A lot of times, I pre-configure devices for them, and it is a pain to switch the user so that it shows them as the owner when I've done the initial setup. Microsoft has a tendency to try and put too much into what is supposed to be just an operating system. I would rather have choices and pick what I want to include. They sometimes cram too much in there.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 since the first beta came out in 2015. It has been a couple of years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable. I didn't have any issues that were directly Windows-related. Usually, it had to do with other games and applications having or causing problems.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

As long as you're on the 64-bit build, it is very easy to scale.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have never called Windows tech support for Windows 10. However, I have dealt with the developer group, but that includes people like myself helping each other in the community. I do interact with their developer team on the bug releases and stuff. I fill out the questionnaires and stuff about bugs that I find. I've dealt with them, but that's not really tech support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have always used Windows. My previous Windows release was Windows 7. Before that, I had Windows XP. Before that, I had Windows 3.51. It has always been Windows.

Windows is easy to use and intuitive for the most part. I work with Apple devices, but I like being able to have control over my environment. I can have more control with Windows 10 than with others. To be able to use Unix operating system, you have to be an engineer.

How was the initial setup?

It is easy. If you get it new on a machine, you're usually up and running in a few minutes.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise others to go with the Professional version and not the Home version. I would rate Windows 10 a ten out of ten.

Integrates with everything that I am using, gives me everything as a user, and allows me to easily sort apps
Pros and Cons
  • "I like the main window pane where you can sort your mostly used and different types of apps, such as OneDrive, Google Chrome, and Access. • "It takes a lot of hard drive space when you're using it. I also have Windows 10 on my personal computer, and it does take up an awful lot of hard drive space. This is probably something about which nothing can be done, and it is just a pet peeve of mine."

What is our primary use case?

It is on my laptop, and it is given to me as an employee. My Windows did an update last night, so I am sure I have its latest version. I also have it on my personal computer.

What is most valuable?

I like the main window pane where you can sort your mostly used and different types of apps, such as OneDrive, Google Chrome, and Access. I can just open up the main window, and those apps are right there at my fingertips. I moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and it took me a little while to get used to Windows 10, but once I got used to it, I do like it.

It takes a lot of hard drive space when you're using it. I also have Windows 10 on my personal computer, and it does take up an awful lot of hard drive space. This is probably something about which nothing can be done, and it is just a pet peeve of mine.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for three years.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have not gone to tech support. I never had a problem.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is easy. There are always patches that go out. I've been selling Office 365 to customers, and there are always patches. That's just the way Microsoft does things, but the one positive thing is that when things are recognized, patches do get done fairly fast, and then they're sent out. In my official case, they're sent out to my IT department. In my personal case, the patches are done automatically.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Windows 10 an eight out of ten.

Easy to use with a straightforward installation and good stability
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is useful for end-user computing."
  • "The interface itself could be more user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for the client operating system. It is for end-users. We are administrators and it is a desktop client operating system.

What is most valuable?

The solution is useful for end-user computing.

The solution is very stable so far.

We've found it to be flexible.

The product is easy to use.

The new features it offers are very useful.

There have been a lot of improvements and enhancements to the product.

The installation is extremely straightforward.

What needs improvement?

The security aspect of the solution could be improved. they should work to make sure that their security is built out and more robust in future releases.

The interface itself could be more user-friendly.

For how long have I used the solution?

We started using it about the time it was released. We've been using it for about two years or so now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution has been very, very stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable in terms of performance.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have about 500 people using the solution currently.

We do plan to continue to use the solution in the future.

How are customer service and technical support?

We've had some experience with technical support. They've been fine, in general. We have no complaints. We're satisfied with the level of support they provide to us.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previous to this solution, it is my understanding that we used Windows 8.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not difficult or overly complex. It's very simple and quite straightforward. A company shouldn't have any issues with the implementation process.

The deployment is very fast and only takes about 15 minutes or so.

Since this product is for end-user computing, we have a separate team of four administrators that deal directly with the implementation and maintenance of the solution.

What about the implementation team?

I was able to handle the implementation on my own. It didn't require assistance. We didn't hire any outside consultants or integrators for the setup.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay for our licensing on a yearly basis. I can't speak to the exact amount, however.

What other advice do I have?

We are using the latest version of the solution. I don't know the exact version number.

In general, on a scale from one to ten, I'd rate this product at an eight. It's been reliable and we've been happy with its capabilities overall.

I would recommend the solution to other companies and organizations.

What is most valuable?

The solution is easy to use.

What needs improvement?

There is some room for improvement in the security of the solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution since it was released but I have been using Microsoft Windows operating system for approximately 25 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

An up-to-date operating system with a great firewall
Pros and Cons
  • "Windows 10 is very up-to-date. It's a big upgrade from Windows 7. Cortana is a very important feature."
  • "It may be due to the features and apps that I use, but sometimes, I find my laptop slows down."

What is most valuable?

Windows 10 is very up-to-date. It's a big upgrade from Windows 7. Cortana is a very important feature.

The firewall is also really powerful. It's been working really well for us. I don't use any other virus systems other than Windows.

What needs improvement?

It may be due to the features and apps that I use, but sometimes, I find my laptop slows down. Still, it's not a big problem with the OS. Other than that, I can't think of anything else that needs to be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 provides us with very continuous stability. It's stable, that's why we use it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability-wise, I am happy.

How are customer service and technical support?

I rarely have to contact support — that's a good thing.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used to use Windows 7. Windows 7 is quite simple and traditional. Windows 10 is easier for us to navigate. It's more customizable. I like to customize my settings but Windows 7 didn't really allow me to do that. Windows 10 really considers the needs of its users.

How was the initial setup?

I didn't set it up myself so I can't really comment on the initial setup. No maintenance is required, it updates automatically.

How long it takes to update really depends on your internet speed.

What other advice do I have?

I have been relying on the Windows firewall for eight years now — the security is good. I'd definitely recommend Windows just because of that.

Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 a rating of nine. There is always room for improvement, that's why I am giving it a nine.

Had a good set of applications that people are familiar with, but the stability could be improved
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is the set of multiple applications that are available."
  • "There could be more information available online for PowerShell."

What is our primary use case?

Windows 10 is the operating system that I use.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the set of multiple applications that are available.

Every application has a place in Windows and it is good that most people in most companies know exactly where to find them.

I use Windows PowerShell, which runs the DOS commands. It is a little bit complicated but it still runs.

What needs improvement?

The stability could be improved, as I've had issues where it's crash or frozen.

Some of the command-line utilities could be a little cleaner.

There could be more information available online for PowerShell. It has a lot, but there can never be enough of that.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for between two and three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is something that should be improved.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability-wise, it is good. Windows 10 can grow as big or be as small as you want it to be.

We are in a government office and we have a couple of thousand people who use it.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have never dealt with Microsoft technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

Several years ago, I worked with the old DOS system and I am still used to it.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for anybody who is using Windows 10 is to make sure that you continue to do the updates and keep your patches up to date.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

A versatile operating system from the most valuable company in the world
Pros and Cons
  • "My impression is that the security via windows defender is good enough that I no longer feel a need for another third-party security solution."
  • "Everything's tied-in via Bluetooth; it's kind of a pain in the ass because it hijacks your calls."

What is our primary use case?

My laptop is my work and life laptop. I'm a small business owner — my laptop is my lifeblood. More recently, with all this COVID stuff and remote learning, I had to repurpose a couple of my older laptops that deprecated out of my own personal use; I made them suitable for my kids to use for online education. That's what led me to upgrade them from Windows seven to Windows 10.

Everybody in my company uses Windows 10.

Our entire DevOps team works on Microsoft machines. I suppose there are hip little companies out there that use Apple products — that's ineffable to me. I think Windows has done a good job of addressing a lot of concerns around stability and computational inefficiency. It used to be the case that when you were doing more complex, high-intensity computing, you probably needed to be on Linux machines. I don't think that's as true as it used to be. I know smart people that use Apple, but it blows my mind.

What is most valuable?

My impression is that the security via windows defender is good enough that I no longer feel a need for another third-party security solution, which had always been the case in the past. I think that perception still holds true. I might be wrong about that, but prior to Windows 10, I always felt obliged to go with, Norton or McAfee as an additional anti-virus service. So, I began reading reviews and got comfortable with the idea that Windows Defender as a primary security system was good enough.

What needs improvement?

I don't like a lot of the features that are in it. I'm still somewhat archaic in that I like the form-factor of a traditional laptop: I don't want to touch my screen; I don't want it to behave like a tablet; I don't want it to bend in weird ways that I'm never actually going to use. There are a lot of features in Windows 10 that seem to be designed for it to be deployed on a Window's surface or something like that. I don't want that Cortana voice feature. I don't need to talk to my laptop. The phone application where you can integrate your smartphone with it so that you can directly view images that are on your phone, that feature sucks. Everything's tied-in via Bluetooth; it's kind of a pain in the ass because it hijacks your calls.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for roughly two and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, it's pretty good. I put it through its paces more than most people. Outlook doesn't integrate nearly well enough with Google Mail Servers. I think that's more than a Microsoft Office issue than windows. Still, when you host your mail on Google (I host with Google but I use Outlook as an email client), the integration is poor. Google or Outlook issue some new updates once every couple of months that make them play worse together for a week. It's kind of annoying. I think it's a conscious business decision though. I suspect foul play on both sides.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

As I use Windows 10 for personal use, I can't comment on the scalability.

How are customer service and technical support?

The only thing I've ever used Window's tech support for was to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, which you're able to do for free. Which is cool.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is pretty straightforward — it's Windows. Microsoft is one of the largest, most valuable companies in the world despite not being ever seen as cool, newer, sexy.

What other advice do I have?

My advice would be to go ahead and use Windows 10. Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give this solution a rating of eight.

A huge step up from previous versions
Pros and Cons
  • "It's very straightforward. There is virtually no learning curve at all."
  • "The updates could be improved. Sometimes when we update, there are instances where it fails or crashes."

What is our primary use case?

It's all right. It does the job. We use it for emails and troubleshooting widgets — stuff like that. Within our organization, there are roughly 100 employees using this solution.

What is most valuable?

Windows 10 is easy to use. It's not like Windows 8 where it had that "start menu" that took up the entire screen. I didn't like that one.

It's very straightforward. There is virtually no learning curve at all.

What needs improvement?

The updates could be improved. Sometimes when we update, there are instances where it fails or crashes. I wish they would sort that out. When the update is downloaded, maybe we could have a method of checking that the downloaded update from Windows is alright so it doesn't damage our computers before restarting it.

For me, that's the most troubling part — crashing after we've updated it. I've experienced that many times. There are instances where it has actually corrupted the Windows OS, then we have to reformat it.

Every time I have to reformat and install Windows, I have to remove so many pre-installed games and other unnecessary junk. I don't like that. It's just a bother having to remove them again and again and again.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution since it first hit the market.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, Windows 10 is great.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's very easy to expand Windows 10.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have to contact technical support from time to time. They're efficient, I always get what I need from them.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple. It's just like any other setup of Windows.

What about the implementation team?

Typically, I set it up myself. My team also knows how to deploy it. Installation takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes.

Sometimes we have to maintain it. Sometimes it slows down and we have to defragment it. Often, it's actually the computer itself that's slow simply because it's dirty; so we have to open up the computer and clean it. We handle all maintenance on our own, including cleaning the computers if they're dirty.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

For Filipino standards, it's quite expensive. We pay per license. So far, there have been no hidden costs.

What other advice do I have?

Windows 10 is a big step up from Windows 7. Windows 8 was not that great. Overall, Windows 10 is a lot better than previous versions.

You'll have to update as soon as Windows 7 is no longer supported. If you stick with Windows 7, there are going to be security risks as it's not supported and updated by Windows. That's a big deal if you want security, etc.

I would absolutely recommend Windows 10 to others. Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give this solution a rating of nine.

Unifies the Windows experience across multiple devices
Pros and Cons
  • "Windows 10 is easy to use."
  • "Windows 10 could be a little faster."

What is our primary use case?

I use it as an operating system for my laptop. Without it, it's useless.

Within our organization, there are roughly 15 to 20 people using Windows 10. We definitely plan to continue using this solution.

What is most valuable?

Windows 10 is easy to use.

What needs improvement?

Windows 10 could be a little faster.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for a little more than a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would say that Windows 10 is 90% stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's per machine. If you want to install it on two machines, then you have to buy another license and install it again.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is usually straightforward, but sometimes there are some issues that can be hard to solve. In this case, I have to contact support. Typically, installation only take an hour or two.

What about the implementation team?

I handle the installation process by myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This solution could definitely be a little cheaper.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 a rating of nine.

Provides great security and ease of integration
Pros and Cons
  • "Provides easy integration."
  • "Could be improved technically."

What is our primary use case?

My primary use case is for Excel although I also use Word and other functions. I'm a customer of Microsoft and CEO of the company.

What is most valuable?

I like the ease of integration Windows provides as well as the security the solution offers.

What needs improvement?

I think the product could be improved technically.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Windows 10 since it came on the market.

How are customer service and technical support?

I haven't had to make contact with technical support, I can use our in-house technicians.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution an eight out of 10.

A robust operating system that's easy to use
Pros and Cons
  • "I like that it's easy to use, and it seems to be more robust than Windows 7."
  • "Support could be better."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for simple office projects.

What is most valuable?

I like that it's easy to use, and it seems to be more robust than Windows 7.

What needs improvement?

Support could be better.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Windows 10 for three to four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 seems to be stable, so far so good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Windows 10 is scalable, and it's very easy.

How are customer service and technical support?

Microsoft support, in general, definitely has some areas for improvement. The response time could definitely be improved, and the quality of responses.

Sometimes they just get the things from a book or the information that I can always research on Google myself. When I ask for their help, I'm really asking for some insider tricks or tips. Not something off Google that I can find myself.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used to use Windows 7. But we switched to Windows 10 because you cannot get any updates. Windows 10 is obviously more stable than Windows 7. I can say that it's easier to use and more stable.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is quite simple. You can install Windows 10 within 30 minutes. But if you have to customize it for your colleagues, that can take up to two hours. All maintenance and updates happen automatically.

What about the implementation team?

I installed it by myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

When we purchase a new machine, it comes with it, and we don't pay separately for the license.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Windows 10 to potential users.

On a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 an eight.

Feature rich, innovative, user friendly, and easy install
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a much faster solution if you are transitioning from a traditional Windows operating system."
  • "If someone is coming from a previous Windows experience, it could be complex."

What is most valuable?

It is a much faster solution if you are transitioning from a traditional Windows operating system. It is simple, feature-rich, innovative, and once you get used to it, it is user friendly as well.

What needs improvement?

If someone is coming from a previous Windows experience, it could be complex. The solution could be more simplistic from a user perspective. When operating the solution sometimes you receive many different types of options, there is a chatbot build in, and some automatic assistance that was not expected.

There are excessive features in this version and the functionality they are based on needs improvement. The traditional way of using a Windows platform has been somehow lost. It will take a little time to get used to the Windows 10 experience.

Some features are not available in the basic version of the software that can be useful.

In the future, the solution should have a more simplified virtual assistant. I think they might be already planning to do this. There should be more features coming in the solution pre-installed. For example, when you purchase Windows 10, you should have a basic version of Microsoft Office installed on it. It should not be priced separately, more inclusion of features should be there.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for approximately three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Compared to their competition, this solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have found it to be a scalable solution.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to using this solution, I was using Windows seven or Windows eight, not SPF.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment is easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I have never bought this solution myself, I generally get it with my Notebook for free. I think they are competitively priced at this moment. They could reduce the price a bit more, currently, it is priced in the middle.

What other advice do I have?

From the last three-four years, while I was using Windows 10, I think it took me some time to really get used to it properly. For example, we had to figure out how to search. Though they have included improvements from a previous version it took time to learn the new changes.

There is not anything to can say negative because you do not have an option to choose in some cases. When you have a PC environment Windows 10 should be there. If you want to review the previous versions or any extensive version of Windows 10, then it may be different. Enterprise has some added features that the basic does not, these advanced features are available for those who need it. There are other solutions such as Mac or Linux, but in a PC environment, you do not have a specific choice.

I rate Windows 10 an eight out of ten.

A good operating system with a valuable encryption tool
Pros and Cons
  • "The operating system itself is good."
  • "I think the user interface can be a little bit better."

What is our primary use case?

I use Windows 10 just for application purposes.

How has it helped my organization?

It has improved the way our organization functions.

What is most valuable?

The operating system itself is good, and I use BitLocker for encryption. Another valuable feature is the snipping tool, where you could cut and paste.

What needs improvement?

I think the user interface can be a little bit better. Improve the menus because navigating the menu could be a little difficult if you don't have any experience.

They need to get rid of that hive registry. Over time, the hive can get defragged, and you have to start installing and uninstalling. It becomes very fragmented and very convoluted with multi-layers.

Their support could also be better. Sometimes support can get lost when outsourced or outsourced somewhere to a different culture.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Windows 10 for over four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability depends on how programs are written, in terms of memory management and more. But it has become somewhat stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is easier if you're using the VDI or the virtual desktop. If you have to deal with it on an individual basis, then that becomes a little complex and tedious.

How are customer service and technical support?

Support could be better. But on a scale from one to ten, I'll give Windows 10 support a seven.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We had Linux before. For administration purposes and those types of roles, Windows is more user-friendly. Windows was more user-friendly at the time, but Linux has caught up.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward.

What other advice do I have?

For those interested in using Windows 10, I would advise them to stay up to date with security patches. The one bad thing about Windows is that it tends to put the system slowly into acquiesce mode, where things stop operating if you don't apply security patches. When it comes to that, the first level of troubleshooting is installing the operating system patches, and then before you know it, everything's working fine again.

On a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 a nine.

User-friendly and supports many applications, but needs more monitoring tools for administrators and better pricing
Pros and Cons
  • "It is user-friendly, and it supports many applications. I am working as an enterprise lead, so I have different client applications, and they are mostly compatible with Windows. The graphical interface of Windows 10 is better than Windows 8."
  • "They should introduce some special tools for system administrators. I am currently looking at how to calculate the storage. It should have additional tools for monitoring for system administrators. A lot of such monitoring and security tools are available for free in other open-source operating systems, such as CentOS. It should have the backup-and-restore functionality, which is integrated with any external device, such as a USB device. Windows 10 should also be free. They should only charge for Professional Windows 10, but the basic OS should be free. Microsoft should support the Red Hat operating system. When I install Red Hat, it doesn't support NTFS. It needs some additional plug-ins."

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with this solution for two to three years. I am using it in the office as well as at home.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable. In our organization, we have a lot of security stacks. Windows 10 is more stable and better than Windows 8.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have not contacted them.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward and simple.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The basic operating system of any hardware should be free. Therefore, it should be free. They should charge only for the enterprise level or enabling the hypervisor. They should charge for Professional Windows 10, but the basic OS should be free.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution for non-IT people. It is an operating system for a novice end-user. As an administrator, there are many tools that I don't find in it.

I would rate Windows 10 a seven out of ten.

Includes good basic functionality and the cost is included with the price of the computer
Pros and Cons
  • "I like the basic features of the product, overall."
  • "I think that the user interface is a little bit complicated and can be more user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

We use Windows 10 for our office tasks such as e-mails, browsing, and word processing.

What is most valuable?

I like the basic features of the product, overall. I would say that we are just regular users and there is no particular feature that stands out.

What needs improvement?

I think that the user interface is a little bit complicated and can be more user-friendly.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for approximately six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, it is okay.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are a very small company and we have two people that are using Windows 10. Given that it is a desktop product, I know how to scale it.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have never been in touch with technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also use Windows Server and prior to Windows 10, we used Windows 7.

I think that the interface in Windows 7 was easier to use.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was simple. I did not find it to be complex, although the deployment took at least two to three hours, including the updates.

What about the implementation team?

I deployed it myself. The maintenance is done automatically with Windows Update.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Windows 10 came with the computer when I bought it, so it was already licensed.

What other advice do I have?

The features are there in this product, and I just don't want it to be too complicated. All the software that is delivered is Windows 10, by default, so there is no reason to recommend it. It's the only license that you can purchase now.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Good customization and good from a technical perspective but is difficult for non-technical users
Pros and Cons
  • "The customization of the solution is easy."
  • "It would be ideal if the solution itself was less technical so a person like myself could more easily access it and understand it."

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use the solution for work purposes.

What is most valuable?

From a technical perspective, it's very good.

The customization of the solution is easy.

What needs improvement?

I'm not sure of any shortcomings with the solution, however, I myself am not very technical.

It would be ideal if the solution itself was less technical so a person like myself could more easily access it and understand it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for five years at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the solution is very good. We don't have issues with bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's good and reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution can scale well. If a company needs to scale it, it should be able to do so without a problem.

We have about ten people using the product currently.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've never directly contacted technical support, therefore, I can't speak to their level of knowledge or responsiveness.

How was the initial setup?

It's my understanding that the initial setup is not straightforward. It's a bit difficult.

If I recall correctly, the deployment process took about two weeks.

What other advice do I have?

We're a seller of Microsoft and we also use the product as well. In our country, one of the main products is Microsoft and many businesses use it.

I don't really have enough experience to really make a strong recommendation for the solution.

Easily navigate between several apps and programs simultaneously
Pros and Cons
  • "We can be certain of what documents are being worked on and by who — that is, of course, essential."
  • "If the desktop version could be a little bit more like the mobile application, that would be great. It's just easier to navigate."

What is our primary use case?

Most of the staff in the office use PCs but I'm using Windows 10 on my Mac.

We use Windows 10 mostly for document management, Word, Excel, presentations — things of that nature.

We have an additional license. Within our organization, there are 25 people, ranging from finances, registration, faculty members, etc. We also have a student body of around 80, all of whom use Windows 10.

How has it helped my organization?

We can be certain of what documents are being worked on and by who — that is, of course, essential. We can also keep better track of who is responsible for what. That's really helpful.

What is most valuable?

If I am being honest, I'm not a big Microsoft fan myself. I just find it a little bit clumsy, at least with the desktop application, it's just hard to navigate. I find the online interface, the mobile version, a lot more simple to use which makes it easier to collaborate with my staff. When you open up the mobile version, it's already fed to the cloud and you can share it from there, but I think that it could be a generational thing. Most of the staff in my office don't always make sure that the documents are safe in one draft. Sometimes we end up having multiple copies in one day.

I find the interface with Teams to be very useful.

I like the library feature (connected to OneDrive). You can check back in-house to see who the last user was — I find that to be extremely helpful.

In terms of Microsoft Word, if the desktop version could be a little bit more like the mobile application, that would be great. It's just easier to navigate.

It's relatively useful, in terms of navigating and finding what I need.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for at least two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Personally, I don't find it to be very stable.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have our own technical support personnel; however, we have contacted Microsoft support and they were very helpful. I would give them a rating of ten out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

If you're going to use Windows 10, make sure to opt for the staff training. It's two sessions and it's very helpful.

Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 a rating of nine.

Reliable, easy to set up and to deploy
Pros and Cons
  • "It's stable for the most part. It's working fine."
  • "The connection with the Apple product could be better."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case is to have an operational system that I can connect with my SAP logon so that I can do my job.

What is most valuable?

It's stable for the most part. It's working fine.

What needs improvement?

The connection with the Apple product could be better.

The integration could be improved.

The internet page is a bit difficult, the browser is not the best on the market, and it's not the fastest.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 since it was released on the market.

We are using the latest version, and it's up-to-date.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Windows 10 is scalable.

We have approximately 30 users in our organization.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have not contacted technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, I worked with all other Windows, except for Millennium and Windows 98.

I switched because there was no more support available and no optics.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was easy and it took approximately 15 minutes to deploy.

At this time, we require only one person to maintain this solution. As we grow, we may require more.

What about the implementation team?

I completed the installation on my PC myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There are yearly costs.

For my home computer it's a lifetime license, only purchased once.

What other advice do I have?

I plan to continue using Windows 10.

For any who is interested in using this solution, my advice would be don't buy an Apple first.

Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is the interface."
  • "There are a lot of patches that are released frequently that always ask for a reboot. This causes errors and unpredictable actions on the computer. What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the interface.

What needs improvement?

There are a lot of patches that are released frequently that always ask for a reboot. This causes errors and unpredictable actions on the computer. Sometimes it will get hot and reboot and all those kind of patches which will happen after an installation. That is something that needs improvement. It always creates issues when we're in production.

It doesn't happen all the time. The pandemic has made it hard to go into the office to get the problem rectified.

We don't always want to reboot. Users aren't interested to keep on rebooting a laptop. So their laptop can get infected every month which creates problems. And then it's hard to get to the office to get the problems fixed.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for around a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have more than 1,000 users.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have had a good experience with their customer support.

How was the initial setup?

I don't really deal with the installation. It came installed on my laptop from my company. I don't deal with the installation or maintenance.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Windows 10.

I would rate it a nine out of ten.

This version has easier settings
Pros and Cons
  • "I think the settings are better. It has a better user experience."
  • "I have some challenges with the search box. It's a good tool, but sometimes there are some problems. For example, I can't find an application that I installed earlier."

What is our primary use case?

Windows 10 is an upgrade to our system and they installed it on computers. At work, it's dependent on our job. I'm a business analyst, so I use it for searching and writing.

What is most valuable?

The settings in this version are easier. For example in previous version 7, the settings were really complex. There were a lot of options. Most of the time, we had to search and read about everything. It's really better in Windows 10.

It's really slow on my laptop, but I think the settings are better. It has a better user experience.

What needs improvement?

I have some challenges with the search box. It's a good tool, but sometimes there are some problems. For example, I can't find an application that I installed earlier.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable. We have between 50 to 100 users who use it my company.

How are customer service and technical support?

I don't use technical support. If I have a problem, I can look it up myself.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is better than the previous version. I remember more than 10 years ago, sometimes we had to call experts who would come and do the process for me because I couldn't install an operating system on my computer. Nowadays it's easier. I think even a child could install the operating system on a computer. It's not complex. It's really easy.

If I want to change my operating system, it takes four to five hours. I have to check all of my data and then transfer the password to a secure external for storage.  Then the installation is only one hour. After that, I take the time to install some useful applications like Microsoft Office, players, and Internet browsers.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend it to everybody. Learn about it, learn how to install Windows, how to resolve challenges and problems.

I would rate Windows 10 an eight out of ten. Windows needs to cut down because sometimes it's a little complex.

Good user interface, good performance, and stable
Pros and Cons
  • "The user interface of Windows 10 is good. It is better than the earlier versions. Its performance is also better than the earlier versions. These are the two good points for me."
  • "The apps view that I get on my screen is not much useful for me. If I have to search for anything, I go to the Search bar and type there. They can maybe include integration with some third-party products."

What is our primary use case?

I use Windows 10 for accessing Microsoft Office or a few other things. I am using the latest version.

What is most valuable?

The user interface of Windows 10 is good. It is better than the earlier versions. Its performance is also better than the earlier versions. These are the two good points for me.

What needs improvement?

The apps view that I get on my screen is not much useful for me. If I have to search for anything, I go to the Search bar and type there.

They can maybe include integration with some third-party products.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is working fine as of now.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

My organization has around 8,000 to 10,000 users. We all are using Windows 10. We will continue to use it.

How are customer service and technical support?

I never contacted them.

How was the initial setup?

I don't know. I didn't install it myself.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Windows 10 a nine out of ten.

Pros and Cons
  • "Stability-wise, it's fine."

What is our primary use case?

I use windows 10 for personal usage both at work and while studying.

    What is most valuable?

I enjoy the search feature; you can just start typing what you're looking for and the answer just pops up, right away. Bluetooth works really well with it. It's really easy to navigate and find what you're looking for.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for roughly two to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, it's fine. I can't comment on the scalability as I've not really tried to change the performance capabilities — I only run it on one device.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have never had to contact technical support. As for documentation, if you need some help you can just search the internet. It's pretty easy to find information on some of the forums or to get some answers via Microsoft's webpages.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was quite straightforward.

What other advice do I have?

I think I'd recommend it. With Linux, you really need to have some kind of programming background or something, and it really depends on what you are using it for, but for general usage, I think Windows is more comfortable. You can control it via the user interface.

In general, I think it's pretty comfortable. It's very comparable — I'd recommend Windows 10.

On a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 a rating of eight.

I can't think of any disadvantages right now but I can't give it a higher rating because it's not perfect. That's why I chose eight.

    Easy to install and stable
    Pros and Cons
    • "It is easy to install and stable."
    • "There are a lot of frequent updates. They can reduce the number of updates and combine them into one monthly update. It also uses a lot of RAM and CPU, which should be fixed."

What is our primary use case?

We use Windows 10 mainly on the office laptops, not on the network. Our product mostly runs on Linux CentOS. We are using the latest version.

    What is most valuable?

It is easy to install and stable.

    What needs improvement?

There are a lot of frequent updates. They can reduce the number of updates and combine them into one monthly update.

It also uses a lot of RAM and CPU, which should be fixed.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for two to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable. We haven't had any incidents related to its stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

    We have around 200 users.

How are customer service and technical support?

Our company does not have an Office 365 subscription.

    How was the initial setup?

    Its installation is straightforward.

    What about the implementation team?

I installed it on my own. We have one staff member to manage it.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution, but it does not really require any recommendation. More than 50% of laptops have Windows 10 for sure.

I would rate Windows 10 a nine out of ten.

Easy to use with good productivity tools and good support
    Pros and Cons
    • "The most valuable features are ease of use, usability, and user-friendliness."
    • "As a user, I should have a facility that I can secure an entire folder with a password."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case of this solution is for the use of productivity tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. These are very popular and I don't see any alternatives.

There are some open-source, and even Mac has good products.

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are ease of use, usability, and user-friendliness. These are great from the Office products perspective.

From an organization's perspective, we use Office 365 cloud version for the office, which is excellent.

It's quite straightforward and has all of the features that I was looking for.

    What needs improvement?

One of the areas that need some clarity, is when trying to secure a specific folder between the file system with a password. I am not sure if it is possible.

As a user, I should have a facility that I can secure an entire folder with a password. This is a feature that I would like to be added to the Windows System.

Also, It could be more secure.

For how long have I used the solution?

When I first purchased my laptop, it came with Windows 8.1 in 2013 or 2014, then when Windows 10 was released it was automatically updated.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    It's a very stable product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I am not using it extensively.

In our organization, we have approximately 200 people.

I am not sure of the exact number of internal users, but all of the laptops and desktops have Windows 10 installed.

The need is always there on a daily basis.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have had some very basic issues that I needed some additional help with. They were formulas in Excel and the support was very helpful.

Microsoft technical support is good and the documentation is very good. It's very helpful.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Ubuntu for some time and also OpenOffice. Office products are superior to OpenOffice and other products.

    How was the initial setup?

I was not a part of the installation, but from what I understand it was straightforward.

When I purchased my laptop, it was already installed.

    I completed the upgrade myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Windows 10 is licensed. It was included with the purchase of my laptop.

What other advice do I have?

When I spend time on documentation, this is a very good application to use.

I would recommend using Windows 10 to anyone who is interested in implementing this solution.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Easy to use, easy to set up and very stable
    Pros and Cons
    • "The initial setup is very easy."
    • "Occasionally configurations can be a bit tricky."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for just normal documented work, including work schedules or things of that nature.

    What is most valuable?

The solution is very user friendly.

The interface of the solution makes it very easy to navigate.

The initial setup is very easy.

    The product is very stable.

    What needs improvement?

Right now, the solution is quite good and works quite well for us. I don't know if there are features that need improvement.

Occasionally configurations can be a bit tricky.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for two or three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the solution is very good. We've never had a crash and it's never frozen. I don't recall experiencing bugs or glitches. It's reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We only have about ten people in our company using the solution.

We do plan to increase usage in the future. If we bring on more people, they'll also use Windows 10.

How are customer service and technical support?

We've never used technical support do to the fact that we've never had issues. Therefore, I can't speak to their level of service. So far, the solution itself is working well. We've been satisfied.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We didn't previously use a different solution.

    How was the initial setup?

The implementation is not complex. It's quite straightforward.

The deployment took maybe ten minutes.

You only need one admin person. There isn't much maintenance required.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There aren't additional costs over and above the licensing. The pricing is pretty straightforward. The pricing is in US dollar, however, I'm unsure as to what the full cost is.

What other advice do I have?

We don't have a business relationship with the company. We're just a customer.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. It's a great product. We have no complaints as to how it's running and it's worked well for us so far. There really isn't anything missing.

Great interface and useful for me that the drivers are loaded by default
    Pros and Cons
    • "Great user interface and drivers are loaded into the solution by default."
    • "A very expensive solution."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution for desktop computing, PowerPoint and accessing the ERP. I'm an IT manager and we're users of Windows 10.

    What is most valuable?

The user interface is great and I like that the drivers are loaded into it by default because it is straight. We don't have to download much and can very easily get it into our network. They also have some good security features.

    What needs improvement?

The price is always high. Whenever I go out to buy a computer and want to buy a Windows license for it, it makes up a quarter of the total cost. It sometimes helps if it's bundled with the machine, but it's still expensive.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a stable solution, we don't generally have issues with glitches.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's quite a scalable solution. We have around 400 users.

How are customer service and technical support?

Two years ago we took annual support from Microsoft and then we shipped it to other vendors where we were directly dealing with Microsoft. There were some issues regarding the solution at that time but things have improved since then.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use Mac OS in the company. One of our directors prefers it to Windows so we went with that at work. But it really is very costly even though you get good security with it. They are more reliable than Windows and less chance of being hacked or broken into. It's a very sturdy machine. On the other hand, I prefer the ease of use with Windows.

What other advice do I have?

The use of Windows really depends on individual preference, but I would say Windows 10 is better. If you have the money then you can use Mac OS because it would make a difference if you have an iPhone plus an iPad, and you sync everything. To get all that into place requires a lot of money. Windows has its drawbacks and glitches and some instability, but on the whole it works and it's fine.

There are problems with every solution - I would rate this product an eight out of 10.

Familiarity, maturity and popular productivity tools make this OS almost indispensable
    Pros and Cons
    • "It is familiar and mature and runs the most popular productivity tools."
    • "The operating system could be more configurable and compatible in integrating with other operating systems."
    • "The core of the operating system needs work to become more stable and less complex. The need to occasionally re-install should not be necessary."

What is our primary use case?

I am using Windows 10 together with Ubuntu Linux as an operating system.

    What is most valuable?

I am in the technical, IT area. I love the new Windows subsystem for Linux. Version two came out recently. I like the new functionality and mostly the better integration between the networks and the Windows 10 core system.

I also like that Windows is great for gaming. The gaming experience may actually be the thing that I like the most personally.

    What needs improvement?

I always compare products with the competition or what open-source products are doing. I would love for Microsoft to provide or participate in more open-source projects. They could do more expansion with less R&D and learn from what other developers do.

The Windows interface could be much more flexible from a perspective of the user's experience. If you compare other operating systems to the standard Windows desktop experience, the level of configuration for Windows is not so great. You should be able to do more to customize it from the way it looks to the way it performs.

What I also do not likes is the core of the Windows architecture. The registries and complexities that may help it to run fast also lead to issues, latent files, and other issues. Everyone who uses the product knows about having to reinstall Windows. This problem is something that still exists in the latest versions. The operating system works against itself and becomes slower after months of usage. The lag is more apparent if you install a lot of different applications. Eventually, this causes more serious issues and you need to reinstall the operating system. This is not something that you ever have to do on a Linux operating system. Linux is much more flexible. It is much cleaner and it is much easier to configure to your needs.

One other issue I have with Microsoft — more than just the Windows operating system — is the lack of compatibility of their productivity tools suite. Nowadays, most people cannot live without their Office applications. Microsoft is the leader in this. Their Office products are not supported on Linux. In my opinion, the real reason people are still using Windows is not that it is a great operating system, it is because of the integrated productivity tools and familiarity.

For Windows, the core of the operating system needs improvement from the perspective of flexibility and stability.

As far as additional features, it is hard to really pinpoint something that Windows is missing. I think from a feature perspective and as a mature product, they are already pretty feature-heavy. They essentially have everything that a person could need and I do believe that Microsoft is doing a great job from the perspective of continually providing new features.

I would prefer that they further developed the possibility of running other operating system applications. I like the features we got from Windows 10 to help incorporate the use of the Linux system. But I would love it if they made the effort to further expand on that.

So the ability to better integrate with and run other operating systems would be a nice addition.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the Windows OS product since Windows 3.1 or 3.11. So, I have more than 15 years of experience with Windows. We have been working with Windows 10 for about four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In general, the stability of the Windows operating system has greatly improved over the years. The latest versions of Windows 10 is the most improved and it is much better than it was. It still has room for improvement.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We currently have about 250 people using Windows 10 in our organization. There is no real scalability concern.

How are customer service and technical support?

I am an ex-Microsoft employee, so I do have experience with technical support for Microsoft and the Windows 10 product. The guys on that team are great. They are certainly going out and doing their best. They are helpful. They have made a huge improvement over the last few years. They changed a lot of things in the process of how they work with customers. But honestly, I very rarely open a ticket related to Windows 10. I do not find a need for that. I am in the IT field. I fix issues all the time by myself if I have any with the operating system.

But the support team is helpful and improved.

    How was the initial setup?

    The installation is very straightforward.

What other advice do I have?

Any advice I have for people considering this product depends on the use case. I would definitely recommend using Windows 10 as an operating system and a familiar choice. But I would definitely also recommend trying other operating systems. It is very important to know what other operating systems have to offer. This one operating system has massive dominance on the market and I do not like the way that 90% of the people are using only Microsoft products without even considering anything else. It is limiting. So my advice is: learn more about other desktop experiences and try Linux as well to see the differences and what it has to offer.

On the scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate Windows 10 as an eight-out-of-ten. Eight is a good rating but Windows can be better.

Easy to install with an intuitive interface that works well on tablets
    Pros and Cons
    • "The solution is easy to install. Even my child could set up the system."
    • "It would be great if the solution was more stable. It's a mass-produced product and people around the world use it extensively, which makes it a target for attacks. It needs better security against hackers."

    What is most valuable?

We like the solution as it offers basic functionality and you don't need to be an expert to use it.

The solution supports touch screens, which is useful for me, as I utilize touchscreen devices often. It supports tablets, for example, which is great.

It's a massively popular product. About 80% of the operating systems in the world are Microsoft Windows.

The solution is easy to install. Even my child could set up the system.

The interface is intuitive and very self-explanatory. It's easier to use than Mac or Linux.

The product offers very good instructions.

    What needs improvement?

It would be great if the solution was more stable. It's a mass-produced product and people around the world use it extensively, which makes it a target for attacks. It needs better security against hackers.

The solution needs to be more resilient against viruses. Apple computers, for example, are great in this sense.

The solution could be more lightweight. The OS should be built lighter. Users shouldn't have to buy the highest-end processor or devices in order to run the OS smoothly. There should be less demand on the hardware.

They could build or create an operating system that's less powerful than now. Currently, every year, we have to buy new devices just to have the best of Microsoft Windows products. If you want to have the best SharePoint, you have to add RAM. You have to have more and more powerful machines, just to have it run properly. It's demanding on the consumer. There are too many upgrades that are necessary and they happen too often.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using the solution since its first release. It's been a while now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution in my opinion isn't very stable. It's vulnerable to attacks.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was very straightforward. We didn't have any trouble at all. I simply asked the customer center to set up my particular version. There are no admin privileges on my work laptop, so I don't have authority to add anything, therefore I needed their assistance.

What other advice do I have?

    We're Microsoft customers.

We're always on the latest version of the solution. Part of our security policy requires us to be on the latest update at all times.

We have a patch server that will deploy the latest patches, with updates to the clients, to regular machines.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. If it was more stable and offered better data protection, I would rate it higher.

A stable operating system that is user-friendly and has good technical support
    Pros and Cons
    • "The most valuable feature is the interface."
    • "The speed and performance should be improved."

What is our primary use case?

Windows 10 hosts several applications that I use including Outlook for email and others for searching the internet.

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the interface.

    What needs improvement?

The speed and performance should be improved.

Easier integration with other platforms would be an improvement.

It should include a low-code or no-code solution for beginners that they can use to write applications.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for several years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 is a stable operating system.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This product is quite scalable. I expect that we will be increasing our usage of it.

How are customer service and technical support?

I'm very satisfied with the technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We switched to Windows 10 from the previous version. It was a natural progression and it is more scalable.

    How was the initial setup?

I did not have any trouble with the initial setup. It was simple to install.

    What about the implementation team?

Our in-house IT team is responsible for deployment and maintenance.

What other advice do I have?

In summary, this is a product that I like a lot and I recommend it.

    Pros and Cons
    • "It offers an easy user experience for our customers."
    • "Users should be able to access the system remotely."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution alongside a system center configuration manager. I am installing it on mobile devices to upgrade and update the security.

    What is most valuable?

The solution is modern and updated often.

It offers an easy user experience for our customers.

We find the product to be quite stable.

You can scale the solution easily when you need to.

    What needs improvement?

The solution could be improved by simultaneously adding more features and also giving the user more ability to decrease some features to help keep the speed of the device decent.

Users should be able to access the system remotely.

The solution should be more responsive and faster.

It would be helpful if the solution was able to integrate better with other platforms, like Android or Apple.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is quite stable. We don't seem to have any bugs or glitches on the system. It doesn't crash or freeze at all. I consider it to be reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is highly scalable. From Windows 7 to 8 to 10, you can upgrade at any time and you can add storage and remote access. A company that needs to expand it shouldn't have any issues.

Currently, we have more than 3,000 uses on the product. We do plan to increase usage int eh future.

How are customer service and technical support?

We've used technical support in the past and have found them to be very knowledgable and responsive. I'd rate them nine out of ten in terms of the service they provide.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not complex. It's pretty straightforward.

Deployment took about three years. We had to upgrade many files from Windows 7 to Windows 10. There were some minor issues with the process, however, we were able to overcome them.

We have four people on staff that handle deployment and maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There are different licenses available, however, I don't know what the costs are. It's not a part of the solution I handle.

What other advice do I have?

We're just customers. We don't have a business relationship with Microsoft.

I'd recommend the solution. I believe a lot of people and companies already use it, to be honest. However, I do need to pay more for monitoring and to fix some issues related to the product.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

The interface is good, but the performance degrades with too many applications open at once
    Pros and Cons
    • "The most valuable features are the interface and the speed of switching between processes."
    • "of the problems with Windows 10 is that it hangs when you open multiple programs."

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are the interface and the speed of switching between processes.

    What needs improvement?

One of the problems with Windows 10 is that it hangs when you open multiple programs. For example, if you are running 10 to 15 applications then the performance will slow down to something similar to Windows 7. Often, I will have Microsoft Office open, as well as my development tools, and once I have been using them for perhaps 20 minutes, everything slows down. Switching between applications at that point can take two or three minutes.

I have been having some trouble with the .NET framework and it took me a full day to install it. The problem seems to be that every time it connects to Microsoft online, it is different. After several attempts, I was finally able to succeed.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for about six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Other than the problem with having many applications open, it is stable. I haven't had any issues with the other functionality.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Most of the people in our company use Windows 10. Some have desktops and some have laptops.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have not had to contact technical support. Any problems that I have had, I was able to solve on my own.

    How was the initial setup?

Windows 10 came pre-installed on my laptop and it was easy to set up. It only took a few minutes to do.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, Windows 10 is a good operating system.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

    Top 10
Feature rich, stable and scalable operating system
    Pros and Cons
    • "In terms of most valuable feature, it has all the features. We have to use the workforce application like Microsoft Office 365. We are dependent on the operating system."
    • "In terms of what could be improved, I would say the security patches. The security patches do not come very frequently with the operating systems."

What is our primary use case?

The use case is that it is an operating system. People use Windows as an operating system. If you have a laptop at home, you may operate from it. We use desktop machines in our organizations and every user has a Windows operating system.

    What is most valuable?

In terms of most valuable feature, it has all the features. We have to use the workforce application like Microsoft Office 365. We are dependent on the operating system.

    What needs improvement?

In terms of what could be improved, I would say the security patches. The security patches do not come very frequently with the operating systems. So this requires a lot of improvement because the security patches only come every now and then.

For how long have I used the solution?

We started using Windows 10 four to five years ago. Before that we had Windows 7.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 is stable. There's no doubt about it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good. From one to five, I would give it a four.

Right now we have 1,000 plus people working on it.

    How was the initial setup?

    The initial setup is straightforward.

What other advice do I have?

I wold advise them to check out the licensing, which needs improvement. They should consider it because the Microsoft operating system works with Microsoft Office license. We have to pay separately. I think they should prepare a package, with the operating system and the M365 license combined and there should be a big, good, and attractive package for the customers. This would be an improvement on the product.

On a scale of one to ten I would give Windows 10 an eight.

User-friendly and is updated regularly, but the security needs to be improved
    Pros and Cons
    • "It is easy to operate and perform any tasks."
    • "If you need servers to be deployed in a production environment then you definitely want to look at a different operating system."

What is our primary use case?

We are a service company and we use a variety of products that are guided by the clients' requirements. Windows 10 is one of the operating systems that we use for this.

    What is most valuable?

I like the fact that it is user-friendly. It is easy to operate and perform any tasks.

It is easy to train others in the use of Windows 10.

    What needs improvement?

If you need servers to be deployed in a production environment then you definitely want to look at a different operating system. From an end-user point of view, I don't see in issues in using Windows.

Improvements should be made to security, making it more resistant to hacking and malware.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for more than five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

If you are looking at production systems then you are definitely going to have an issue with Windows. For normal users that don't require much in terms of system capacity, it is okay. It is quite manageable from the perspective of a normal user.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are a small organization and everybody uses Windows.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also use Linux, depending on the client.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and easy to understand.

What other advice do I have?

They have been evolving Windows 10 since it was released. Every time we open it, there is something new. It used to be that email and other utilities were on the system, but now they are cloud-based. Whether the older or newer interfaces are better, or not, doesn't matter because you get used to it and move along.

In summary, Windows 10 is a good operating system and I recommend it.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

Straightforward to set up, user-friendly, and support an entire ecosystem of tools
    Pros and Cons
    • "Microsoft technology is very simple and user friendly."
    • "Windows needs improvements made with respect to security because it is still vulnerable."

What is our primary use case?

I am an application developer and Windows 10 is the environment that I prefer to use.

    What is most valuable?

Microsoft technology is very simple and user friendly.

Some of the features that I like are Skype and the Windows Store.

Most of Microsoft Office is essential to use.

OneNote and Visio are features that I use in my day-to-day activities.

    What needs improvement?

Windows needs improvements made with respect to security because it is still vulnerable. Often, there are vulnerabilities found that they are releasing patches for. For example, Windows servers are still not very difficult to hack. When I was working with their products several years ago, it was really easy to break the Windows Server password.

There are some features such as wireless display and remote desktop connections that are not available in the Home Edition, but it would be really helpful for home users to have access to these.

I would like to see some kind of tool that can be used to plug in and connect to Azure technologies.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Of course, there are issues or bugs that are found, and we can help by reporting them to the Windows team. There regularly work on them and provide patches to update and fix them as soon as possible.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have not personally spoken with Microsoft technical support for Windows 10 because there is a team in our office that deals with them directly.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have experience with Linux, but Windows 10 is more user-friendly in easier to use. In Linux, you have to remember command syntax, but in Windows, this is not required. A lot of help for Windows users is available.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is really straightforward. It is plug-and-play and you don't need much experience or learning before performing the setup.

What other advice do I have?

In summary, my experience with Windows 10 is really good and I like most of the features. It is easy to use compared to other operating systems like Ubuntu. They provide the entire ecosystem including tools and technologies, and Microsoft has that whole umbrella available. It makes you feel comfortable.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Scalable with good stability, however it needs a better system for initiating updates
    Pros and Cons
    • "The solution is scalable. If an organization needs to expand it out, they shouldn't run into issues doing so."
    • "The only thing which concerns me is updates. It gets updated often. Sometimes, however, it automatically gets updated. That is an issue. It can happen when you do not want it to be done. It's possible it can start and your files are not saved. They may be open while your laptop enters sleep mode. Then, when you re-open the computer to continue work, it all of a sudden decides to update, destroying your work."

    What is most valuable?

I don't know if I can discuss the solution in relation to other Windows versions, however, I can compare it to other OS like Unbuntu. For example, it's quite a secure operating system. The ease with which you can download different Python libraries is very good there.

If you're a developer, you can do everything with the help of the Command Prompt and console.

    What needs improvement?

I'm more into artificial intelligence and the data science side. So I do not like Windows that much.

Setting up the environment variable, etc., needs improvement. This is true not only for Windows 10 but for Windows as a whole. It is currently a huge mess. Due to this, working with many libraries and packages becomes a difficult task. If they could find a better solution or a replacement for environment variables, I'd be extremely happy.

The only thing which concerns me is updates. It gets updated often. Sometimes, however, it automatically gets updated. That is an issue. It can happen when you do not want it to be done. It's possible it can start and your files are not saved. They may be open while your laptop enters sleep mode. Then, when you re-open the computer to continue work, it all of a sudden decides to update, destroying your work.

Once I accidentally did something that erased hidden folders on the C drive. It caused a lot of issues. Windows got corrupted on me. They should work to ensure that it isn't possible to accidentally delete these files or there should be a replica for them on the hard disc or something of that nature.

Google has functionality whereby if you have your email ID open on your phone, on your Android phone, that means you can sync everything on your Google drive. The same thing should be provided by Microsoft. I do not think Microsoft provides a dedicated account to every valid Windows holder. This should be done so that everything you have on your local system should be somehow in synchronization with the cloud. That way, if something happens, like your laptop is stolen, or your laptop is corrupted all of a sudden, your data is not misplaced. You have your data somewhere. A sync with the cloud service should be available.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for seven to eight months at this point. It's been less than a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 is a stable solution; it provides everything. There's a good Windows store where you can go and get your apps. There are other things also that Microsoft provides as well. For example, on Windows, you can download a virtual machine. If you want to use Ubuntu, as I do, due to the fact that I am more comfortable with Ubuntu, you can download the VM there on Windows and start with your work.

Everything is provided by Windows, and things are stable. If I talk about Windows only, in between OS such as Linux, then I'd say Linux is better. However, overall, Windows 10 is pretty reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. If an organization needs to expand it out, they shouldn't run into issues doing so.

How are customer service and technical support?

So far I haven't had to reach out to technical support; I can't speak to its quality of service or the level of responsiveness to queries.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have experience with Unbuntu as well. I used Unbuntu about a year back. Now I'm using Windows for data science. Initially, I used Ubuntu for data science. So I've used both the platforms.

The commands are very good and very easy in Ubuntu as compared to Windows. In Windows, you'll have to do a lot of things. You need to, for example set the environment variable, etc., which is not necessary in Ubuntu. You can directly download and put it in your user directory. You can also utilize the services from there. So I would say from the developer's point of view, and from an AI practitioner's point of view, Linux Ubuntu is a good option to go for.

    How was the initial setup?

While I found that the initial setup was very straightforward on Linux's Ubuntu, it was a bit complex and much harder in Windows. It's not straightforward per se.

I haven't used Windows 10  for deployment. I've used the Linux machine only. Deploying on Ubuntu won't take much of a time. It's very easy.

What other advice do I have?

We're just customers. We don't have a business relationship with the vendor.

I'm not sure which version of the solution I'm using currently is.

Windows 10 is quite a stable version of the solution. If you compare it with Windows 8, it is much, much better. If one wants to use Windows as an operating system, I would recommend it. If one is more comfortable with other operating systems, they can run it in a virtual machine and give partition on Windows so that half of the memory is allocated for other OS.

I'd rate the solution seven out of ten.

Stable and scalable with good security features
    Pros and Cons
    • "The latest versions of the solution have increased their level of stability. It's quite good now."
    • "The solution should offer a bit of an easier integration with authentication methods, like FIDO or FIDO2 authentication with the USB-C. They should try to simplify the process of authenticating the user. Nobody wants to remember thousands of passwords."

    What is most valuable?

The solution's most valuable aspect is the vast integration of PowerShell to help automate the community and every system maintenance task.

The solution has implemented security capabilities quite well. There is a new technology that allows you to put your security credentials in the EPM module has been great.

    The initial setup is easy.

The latest versions of the solution have increased their level of stability. It's quite good now.

    What needs improvement?

The patch deployment in corporate enterprises could be improved in a way to specify when the system will update and to prevent users from interacting with this system during the actual updates. If you have a system running in a production facility, the user is only able to access a dedicated application when you then update the system, the application has to be stopped. When this happens, the system is open for manipulation. Microsoft should invest more in a way to protect users from interacting with this system during the update process.

It's a very edge case. It's really important for us. I know some other production facilities. There are some third party solutions in place which tried to tackle this issue, but it would be better if Microsoft directly addressed it on their own.

The solution should offer a bit of an easier integration with authentication methods, like FIDO or FIDO2 authentication with the USB-C. They should try to simplify the process of authenticating the user. Nobody wants to remember thousands of passwords.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for three years so far.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 is really stable now. There aren't bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's very reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

In the case of scalability, it would be easy to expand the solution. It is quite straightforward to execute on scalability. A company shouldn't have trouble with it when they need to expand.

Currently, we have about 8,000 users on the solution.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've never personally contacted technical support. We often try to contact more third-party support services. I can't remember any direct contact with support, so I can't speak to the quality of services that they provide.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have used a lot of Linux's systems, however not for clients. In the past, for end user computing, like running workstations, we already used Windows 10. It was Windows 7 before that.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is a very straightforward process. It's not complex. It's easy to deploy and users are adapting to it quickly. The whole process is very fast.

What other advice do I have?

We're just a customer. We don't have a business relationship with Microsoft.

The Microsoft ecosystem works really well when I have an active directory and am using Microsoft Outlook, Exchange, etc. They interact really well together.

In regards to the solution being cost-effective, I would say the latest technologies from Microsoft have an administrative system that is much easier than running IBM. It's now so well interconnected that if you're trying to migrate to the cloud it's easy.

Microsoft really tries to fill all of a company's technical needs, which works really well.

I would rate the solution a solid nine out of ten.

It's really great. Microsoft has done a lot to improve their offerings over the last few years. You can still improve every product somehow. They could always add more features and continuously refine the product. However, at this point, it's working really well for us.

Faster, more efficient, and more secure than the previous OS
    Pros and Cons
    • "The work is now faster and more efficient because most of the running programs do not crash during the run stage, like the previous version we were using for work."
    • "The frequent update of the Operating system is bad because, during each update, most of the programs or applications do not function well."

What is our primary use case?

I use this Operating system for programming because the previous version was not serving its purpose. Secondly, I use this OS for blogging and I spent most of my time online. My online time includes other IT services that I use the operating system for.

How has it helped my organization?

The work is now faster and more efficient because most of the running programs do not crash during the run stage, like the previous version we were using for work. It is more secure as related to the task or work we have stored in our system.

    What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the easy assess to most of the settings and features of the PC. Another is that it is more secure because Windows Defender is very efficient and active to detect viruses or trojans that may make the user vulnerable to cybersecurity attacks and other threats.

    What needs improvement?

The frequent update of the Operating system is bad because, during each update, most of the programs or applications do not function well. Updates should be in intervals of every three to four months, and they should have the user's choice and interests in mind before any update.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for two months.

Users can use Miracast to the Surface Hub for meetings and client walkthroughs

    What is most valuable?

Most of the best Windows 10 features are centered around getting you where you want to go faster. The new right-click menu is fantastic from an IT perspective. It gives access to many commonly used tools, like Device Manager, Computer Management, PowerShell, Task Manager and Programs and Features, right from the desktop. The new Task Manager is also much more fully featured and informative.

The overall speed of Windows 10 is fantastic as well. It boots quickly, shuts down quickly, and the overall use is snappy and responsive.

Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise come with fully featured Hyper-V. Desktop admins can create VMs for testing purposes without the need for extra machines.

How has it helped my organization?

Users can use Miracast to the Surface Hub, which is great for meetings and client walkthroughs.

    What needs improvement?

The settings and control panel are oddly disjointed. Things that show up in the Control Panel do not always show up in Settings and vice-versa. It is a pain to remember what is where.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have used this nine months in production.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

There is also a tremendous amount of bloatware on Windows 10. Without performing offline maintenance on the image, you have to clean up quite a bit of stray apps and consumer level services to get it to be usable in a corporate environment.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Our version of Trend caused Windows 10 to freeze unexpectedly at random times. Only after Trend released a compatible version did the issues subside and the OS become stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We use SCCM, so scalability is no issue, once the imaging process was ironed out.

How are customer service and technical support?

We primarily use online forums and communities unless you want to pay Microsoft to open a support case. It does benefit from being the most popular OS on the planet, as there is amble advice out there from third parties.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used Windows 7 and are migrating to be ahead of the support EOL.

    How was the initial setup?

It takes a few iterations of installing Windows 10 to get everything tweaked to a place of having a smooth imaging and configuration process. Little things like registry tweaks, GPO tweaks, take time to iron out. Having an imaging solution is a must to scale in any way.

    What about the implementation team?

We implemented it in-house. I did the implementation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Get a KMS server and a volume license if you are a medium sized business. Being able to wipe and re-image is crucial for long term stability of your fleet. Having a Multiple Activation Key (MAK) makes it so every new activation counts against your total.

Work with a reseller like CDW to get licensing costs that fit your needs, as Microsoft's model is confusing.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate other options. We need to use Windows to support our finance applications.

What other advice do I have?

Windows 10 is the best parts of Windows 8 and Windows 7 rolled into one. Windows 8 started a lot of features and functions that shine here in Windows 10, while the criticism has allowed Microsoft to work at user experience more for this iteration. There is a bit too much bloatware by default, and some strange decisions about settings aside, it is a great OS that should only get better with time.

This put a scope (pre-assessment) on those applications unready or behind in development efforts.

    Valuable Features:

Application Start control, of course, but the refresh and deployment was beneficial to our global efforts. Lot of accounting types in organisation. AZURE AD subscriber has updates within product. Compliance to ECCN/CCAT (exporting), NIST, ISO, IEEE; quick and efficient closure. Abandon IE, Mozilla (e.g.Chrome, FireFox); settle with EDGE was challenging and big adjustment. This put a scope (pre-assessment) on those applications unready or behind in development efforts, devops pre-scanning had to be deployed. Long 10 months and rework in devops, set SDLC with some suppliers to perform or loose, sign-offs on setting on virtual site (i.e. closed to desktops by policy).

Project include 2016 Office 365 Products, and fresh start.

    Improvements to My Organization:

Reduction of security incident events and mundane tasks in 3 months.

    Room for Improvement:

Lots of updates, but not lots of production.

    Deployment Issues:

We've had no issues with deployment.

    Stability Issues:

It requires a lot of updates in order to be stable.

    Scalability Issues:

We've had no issues with scalability.
