Interactive dashboards have transformed reporting and now support real-time data-driven decisions
One area that could improve in TIBCO Spotfire is performance with very large data sets. I use the advanced scripting feature less often, but the visualization and dashboard features are very useful in my daily work with TIBCO Spotfire. TIBCO Spotfire can be improved in handling very large data, faster dashboard loading, simpler advanced scripting, and better customization options for visualizations. Integration with some external tools in TIBCO Spotfire can be smoother, and the user interface for advanced features could be more beginner-friendly. A more intuitive navigation system, a cleaner interface, and an easier drag-and-drop option for report building would also make it more useful.

Business Analytics enables us to better understand our business and compare ourselves meaningfully to our competitors.
The solution has a number of distinct features that are noteworthy. First, it is an incredibly flexible and fast, yet comprehensive analytical solution. Verix has found a way to deploy the solution quickly, in under 3 months, while providing a product that is robust and uniquely tailored to the sales model within the industry. Second, in response to specific business needs that are constantly arising, Verix is consistently able to address our needs in a quick and thoughtful manner. Additionally, since Verix is cloud-based, these changes happen almost immediately, usually within hours or days. Finally, Verix’s intelligent business alerts (i.e. hotspots) provide outstanding value by putting easy-to-use analytics in the hands of the user.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We were able to automate manual reports, which we then email a report copy to the user's mailbox instead of someone manually creating the report and sharing it in bigger user groups."
"The ability to create a real-time data mark, using just one piece of software, is the best feature of this product."
"R and automation services."
"The following features are the most valuable to me: Ability to import data from disparate sources and manipulate or transform that data, ability to create visualizations that communicate insight, and integration with R."
"The most valuable feature is the map visuals that help us connect to the geo-specialized data which is more advanced than other solutions."
"Technical support is exceptional."
"It makes it possible to give us factual insights, helps us to take right decisions transforming our business."
"We save many millions of dollars."
"Verix’s intelligent business alerts (i.e. hotspots) provide outstanding value by putting easy-to-use analytics in the hands of the user."
"The ability to identify in real time changes in behavior that are in contrast to expected and past behavior applies to any constituent’s behavior – customers, prescribers, competitors, payers, and even your own sales reps, and the product is also extremely user friendly."
"Previously we were using a solution called Business Information Warehouse, and another called Tableau; neither was as easy to use or as advanced as the Verix solution."
"Verix has improved our processes since the entire sales force now functions on this standardized platform, which allows for smoother channels of communication throughout the team."

Cons

"I have run into issues with large datasets (>2M records), and attempting to build relationships between tables for use in a single visualization."
"The stability is pretty good. However, if you have a decent-sized data set (maybe 100 columns by a few hundred thousand rows) and you create a lot of complex visualizations, sometimes the program will crash on you."
"The way TIBCO Spotfire is designed, in my opinion, is the reason why it lags a bit, especially compared to other BI tools like Qlik."
"Technical support is average; however, the user conferences that are held regionally and nationally provide a lot of value."
"The Text Area feature needs to be more user-friendly. It is a little clunky to use, and it is difficult to consistently format text."
"We would like to see some improvement in the default properties of the solution, so that there is less need for us to spend our time coding."
"The data compression has room for improvement."
"Better UX/UI design to make the product look “sexier”. It’s somewhat difficult to add formatting to Spotfire dashboards to make them look nice (e.g. coloring backgrounds of charts, adding floating texts, etc.)."
"Currently there are 10 applications in the solution such as product launch and funnel. In the future I would like to see Verix add additional analytical applications so that an even greater range of the business aspects is covered."
"There are tools in the market that have very slick graphical interface features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The Tibco sales teams have been very difficult to work with - ignoring requests, misrepresenting level of demand, etc."
"The cost is a few hundred dollars per user per year."
"I would describe TIBCO Spotfire as an averagely-priced product."
"The price-point for this solution is negotiable depending on usage levels."
"In comparison to other solutions such as IBM Cognos, TIBCO Spotfire is more affordable."
"The cost of TIBCO Spotfire could improve. It should be less expensive. It's the most expensive visualization tool in our company."
"This product carries a monthly licensing charge, with the amount depending on the features that are to be included. This costs also covers the use of technical support."
"The pricing seems competitive and reasonable. The value delivered by the product far exceeds the cost."
