IP address management improves network efficiency but licensing cost could decrease
We are using SolarWinds for NPM and NCM, and we use IP address management for IP address monitoring. It helps us track which IP address is live and which is not. It also provides DHCP reservation and allows us to declare IP addresses for our integration. We have been using it for IP address…

Real-time monitoring has improved our banking API performance and supports detailed business transaction analysis
The real-time monitoring is what we can see for anything that is needed in terms of CPU, memory, or the connections or the sessions related. It's real-time monitoring of performance of each of the components, which is what we need and use all the time. It's highly effective, I would say. Infrastructure visibility, transaction monitoring, to check the actual user experience in terms of the response time, MRT and all those things. We do the component monitoring like the API performance and the connections and all those things, but we also do the business process monitoring and business transaction monitoring.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"IPAM is used for IP address reservation and tracking, helping us easily identify live IP addresses."
"The most valuable feature is the availability of end devices."
"The initial setup is very straightforward and it is easy to add nodes."
"It helped to find quick solutions for specific business transactions."
"Before we moved the code to AppDynamics, we had to compare the agile process and also had to make sure that they're following the standards."
"The platform is reliable in identifying the core system issues."
"Once you use AppDynamics it feels like you were standing in the dark before."
"The metrics browser is very useful, and the deep dive feature is very useful for us."
"I definitely recommend it."
"AppDynamics' most valuable features are the response time of the business transaction modules, the ability to monitor multiple services, and testing and developing environments."
"The product is stable and the technical support is good."

Cons

"The licensing cost is high compared to open source tools."
"The solution does not include enough features and has some performance issues."
"There could be some improvement in the constructions of the diagrams, it is too difficult currently."
"The configuration is tricky and requires a lot of tools."
"AppDynamics is really pricey as it requires licenses for every feature."
"To improve Splunk AppDynamics, it should migrate seamlessly into observability Splunk, which is called Splunk Observability Cloud."
"There are times where we had a couple of outages over the past couple of weeks. Just an hour or two where it was not available."
"We're struggling a little bit with the way it auto-configures the various endpoints and how to work it."
"Yes, the custom dashboard. Making custom dashboards is really tedious. I wish there was just a drag and drop to slap things together quickly."
"The product’s dashboard could be more easy to implement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is a bit expensive because the annual license does not include new features that are priced as add-ons."
"It does require licensing to be paid."
"We are looking forward to purchasing the solution on the AWS Marketplace."
"It is not a cheap tool, but you also save in manpower to setup because it is easy and fast. At the end of the day, I think the revenue is much better. BUT, they have an awful co-term mode of licensing."
"Because it is priced per JVM, the price can increase pretty fast, into the millions. We have had challenges because we had to justify the price to our clients, as well, when we are putting in certain tools."
"As compared to other applications, its price is moderate. Its price is neither very high nor very low."
"AppDynamics is an expensive solution."
"The licensing scheme is very complex. They need to make it easier."
"We buy the platform's yearly subscription."
