Offers extensive features for efficient operations in small to midsize businesses
The solution is very good. However, for very small companies, maybe a cloud service is better. Other software like QuickBooks may work well if you do not have many employees and require simple invoicing and inventory. This software, though, is a bit more advanced compared to QuickBooks, offering flexibility, multi-user capability, and options for application development. It connects directly to the database for reporting or external systems, which is beneficial for companies needing more advanced features. However, if I need a very complex system, Sage might not be suitable. Overall, I would rate this product an eight out of ten.

Extensive real-time analytics and superior support enhance decision making but continued product evolution impacts existing investments
Improvement is needed, and they need to slow down. When I say slow down, they need to do more validation. Things are going rapidly and changing fast. For example, they moved from SAP SRM product to SAP CLM. They bought IBM CLM and marketed it as SAP CLM. Shortly after, they bought SAP Ariba and discontinued the SAP CLM product. Now they state that SAP SRM is outdated and has reached sunset. The challenge is that if a customer has already deployed the entire solution on-premises, it becomes difficult to immediately convert to the new product and manage new license costs. From a consulting perspective, it appears that SAP's biggest competitor is itself, as they sometimes discontinue their own products to promote new ones.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Regarding the cost, it is cheap. I pay a one-time fee instead of a monthly license fee per user."
"For me, it is a ten because I did not have any problems or issues."
"The product provides consistent updates and upgrades."
"The technical support is very good."
"The solution is versatile with various integrated tools such as connecting with finance modules, controlling parameters, and creating universal journals."
"SAP is an extremely powerful ERP. In my past company, we used it on a massive large scale, and it was amazing."
"It is good in data analytics and helps in data analytics."
"Makes it easier to reach and read data."
"The ability to access and analyze data in real-time has significantly improved our reporting efficiency."
"The reporting that we are doing from SAP S/4HANA Cloud is a valuable feature."
"Real-time data analytics capabilities and the ability to integrate external tools like Qlik Sense are some of the most valuable features."
"We like the web portal or interface, which is great. The user experience is much better than the current traditional SAP landscape."

Cons

"While the software may not be very expensive, it lacks many advanced features found in other software."
"We're definitely looking at a new system because everything in this product needs improving."
"While the software may not be very expensive, it lacks many advanced features found in other software."
"The vendor stopped supporting the solution on the Linux platform."
"The scalability of SAP S/4HANNA is an area that could be improved."
"It can be done within a few hours, but it also depends on the customer's requirements. If they want some changes, it may be done within one hour. But if there are large-scale changes, it may take one week or one month."
"I'd like to share my experience during the migration from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA in the cloud. My primary challenge in this migration was the requirement to open a ticket for every request during the project phase, not during operational or post go-live phases. Despite this, I must acknowledge that overall, SAP has proven to be very reliable. To clarify the issue, after migrating to SAP S/4HANA, I opted to host my SAP solution on the private cloud by converting the license to SAP Cloud. The drawback I encountered during the project phase was the insistence on opening a ticket or service request for any issue or query I had within the project's activities. Looking ahead, I hope that SAP streamlines and simplifies this process for future customers, making it more user-friendly and efficient than my experience."
"Integrating SAP with other products like payroll solutions should be smoother. I wish there were some tools a consultant could build according to the client's requirements. For example, say I want to process debit and credits. In SAP, we have to follow SAP terminologies and patterns. I need a template to deploy my structure according to the client's requirements. There is no structure available in SAP that a consultant can mold."
"The pricing is high."
"The system is very heavy and requires a lot of resources and a dedicated team."
"A lot of my clients are complaining about the SAP license policy. I think that is quite intransparent and obviously quite expensive."
"The solution could improve by adding a planning model, such as BPC. Additionally, if we need to make changes in the profit center it has to be done manually. It is not connected to the cost center."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is reasonable."
"The license for S/4HANA is expensive, and the licensing structure is hard to understand. The admin license is something like 500 euros per user. Other ERP solutions allowed you to pick only the modules you need. The SAP ECC version requires you to take all the modules even if you are not using them."
"I don't remember the specifics about the licensing, but it's scaled and modular. You pay for what you use. It's not a one-size-fits-all license. You have a license for every single module. It's similar to Oracle."
"I feel the solution is expensive when it comes to what can be obtained with open source software."
"The solution’s pricing is very high."
"Its pricing is way over any of the other ERPs. I'd rate it one out of ten in terms of pricing."
"The pricing is competitive with other products at that level in that category."
"This is a pricey solution that best serves large enterprises. Be sure to ensure that your company's requirements need to be fulfilled by SAP. There are many other ERP's that are cheaper yet highly functional. However, it is still cheaper than some of the competition (i.e. Oracle, ESD, etc.)"
"I'm not directly involved in the pricing discussions; it's more of a concern for the finance team."
