Enables automation and quick access to necessary information
One of the significant challenges Qualys is discovery, which I know Microsoft excels at. I can't recall how well Qualys performs this function; it seems I might be missing some details. However, if there's one key aspect to focus on, it's discovery—the ability to identify assets that you are not aware of, even when you can see they are present. Understanding what those assets are is crucial. With Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management, it was very difficult to extract detections from the system. The features within Qualys are limited to what they have developed. Sometimes a complete overview is needed to push to a Power BI dashboard, Splunk, ServiceNow, or other platforms. The export process is incredibly challenging. We needed a developer to write a hundred-line Python script that would loop over certain assets due to export limitations. Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management could improve its integration capabilities. While it generates substantial data, correlating it with other data sources can be challenging. The export process is difficult, and pre-built integrations with other tools could be enhanced for better process implementation.

Remote sessions have become smoother and now resolve end user issues more comfortably
One feedback I have is regarding the voice feature. Whenever we take a remote session, the voice gets enabled automatically, and we have to mute it from our side. A pop-up asking whether we want to continue with the voice or not would be helpful when accessing a remote session. The audio system could be improved because sometimes we are not aware that we need to unmute the team while taking a remote session. The end user can hear us talking with colleagues, and we sometimes forget that we have unmuted while taking a remote session. If a pop-up appears when we take a remote session with the end user asking us to unmute ourselves, that would be better for us to proceed. When the pop-up appears, we can directly mute ourselves, and the end user will not be able to hear the background noise from the office. Since many colleagues are taking remote sessions and talking to end users simultaneously, there is often significant background noise. Having this pop-up appear when accessing a remote session with the end user would be a helpful update.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Authorized and unauthorized software visibility is the best feature for me. It helps me understand security controls on our network and where we lack visibility. With a single security tool, we are able to get an extensive list."
"I would rate the Qualys CSAM a ten out of ten for its overall performance."
"The most valuable features of Qualys CSAM include the ability to manage authorized and unauthorized applications efficiently. This feature helps in validating applications and maintaining a secure environment."
"Tags are very useful for us since we can tag virus applications in infrastructure types such as databases, operating systems, or web platforms."
"Overall, I would give Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management a nine out of ten."
"The fact that it is integrated makes it very easy to understand."
"We have a diverse organization with a robust infrastructure of more than 300,000 assets. By creating unauthorized lists and rules in the Qualys CSAM module, I can block certain software from being used in the organization."
"I recommend Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management due to its superior asset information collection capabilities, including comprehensive hardware and software inventorying."
"It's easy to use and maintain."
"What I like about TeamViewer Remote Management is the chat feature on the dashboard, which is very useful. The solution also has a meeting feature, but I don't use that. The remote feature and other features of TeamViewer Remote Management also work fine, so it's a good solution."
"The pricing of the solution is very reasonable."
"The product is very stable."
"The fact that it's user-friendly and it has a chat option. These are my two favorite features."
"The product is secure."
"I like the possibility of using this software across different operating systems and clouds, such as AWS or Azure Cloud, while being able to efficiently transfer files and run the data."
"We did call technical support once and they were very helpful and responsive."

Cons

"In the best practice for categorizing assets with the C-SAM module in Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management, I see potential for improvement with integration of other CMDB systems in creating a relationship with Qualys and other solutions."
"We've received very poor guidance from them, especially after learning several things we need to fix during the Qualys conference."
"We encountered some false positives, which required coordination with the IT team for verification."
"Integration of Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management, particularly with ServiceNow, takes a very long time, and it needs prioritization of patch rules based on vulnerability risk."
"The scanning function could be improved."
"Some areas that would be helpful are more comprehensive tagging and the ability to set up better dynamic rules."
"Qualys could improve by enhancing its dynamic tagging and role-based access control features, and by refining its user interface for a more intuitive and efficient user experience."
"One downside of Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management is that I would prefer to see a more interactive dashboard."
"I prefer to use AnyDesk. I actually uninstalled TeamViewer."
"Integration with other tools would be great. That would always be a bonus."
"If you have one version, like if you have version 14, and the client has version 15, you can't access his computer. If the client is on 14 and the technician is on 15, he can't access the end user who's at home. So there's a disparity in versioning."
"VPN connection is an area with shortcomings that need improvement in the solution."
"I would rate the stability a seven out of ten because every application gets bugs. So, there are some instances where it might be buggy and hanging."
"The compatibility needs improvement in TeamViewer Remote Management because there's some incompatibility in some versions of the solution. Some solutions require the higher-performing version of TeamViewer Remote Management. Otherwise, there's incompatibility. The security provided by TeamViewer Remote Management in terms of data transfer also needs improvement. I'd like to see more features in the next release of TeamViewer Remote Management because it's still lacking in features. It would also be good for TeamViewer Remote Management to have a built-in remoting program similar to what Itarian has."
"There are some challenges with compatibility."
"It could be more secure."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Qualys offers excellent value for money."
"Though the solution is considered expensive, if bundled with other services such as VMDR or cloud agents, its value would significantly increase. It is currently a bit costly, but with bundling, it could become attractive to more customers."
"The cost for Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management is high."
"The pricing for Qualys Cybersecurity Asset Management is reasonable, with an annual subscription costing around $1,000 per year or a monthly subscription starting at approximately $72 per month, depending on the specific package and features included."
"Qualys is competitively priced for its features. Its pricing is suitable for large organizations with more than 4,000 assets, but for smaller organizations with few assets, such as banks, the costs might be high. They should come up with packages that are suitable for small organizations."
"The pricing for Qualys CSAM is nominal."
"The pricing is market-competitive."
"The Qualys Cybersecurity Asset Management pricing is well-aligned with our usage."
"We pay for a yearly license."
