Unified risk scoring has improved our cloud visibility and simplifies remediation priorities
Qualys TotalCloud provides unified vulnerability and threat assessment across both IAS and SaaS. This solution provides a single prioritized view of risk, which helps reduce the work I would have to do. We are no longer based on CVSS; we are based on Qualys risk scoring, which is based on CVSS plus internal findings made by Qualys, and then assigns its own score. The TruRisk insight feature has found a small number of assets with high vulnerability scores, though I am cautious since some information is classified. Qualys TotalCloud has positively impacted our bank's performance, and we have definitely seen benefits after implementing this solution.

One of the significant challenges Qualys is discovery, which I know Microsoft excels at. I can't recall how well Qualys performs this function; it seems I might be missing some details. However, if there's one key aspect to focus on, it's discovery—the ability to identify assets that you are not aware of, even when you can see they are present. Understanding what those assets are is crucial. With Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management, it was very difficult to extract detections from the system. The features within Qualys are limited to what they have developed. Sometimes a complete overview is needed to push to a Power BI dashboard, Splunk, ServiceNow, or other platforms. The export process is incredibly challenging. We needed a developer to write a hundred-line Python script that would loop over certain assets due to export limitations. Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management could improve its integration capabilities. While it generates substantial data, correlating it with other data sources can be challenging. The export process is difficult, and pre-built integrations with other tools could be enhanced for better process implementation.

Centralized threat detection has improved incident response and now reduces alert fatigue
SecureWorks Taegis VDR's best features include unified detection and response, as it pulls in alerts and logs from all my different tools such as EDR, SIEM, firewall, cloud services, and Windows machines, collecting everything into one clean dashboard where I can view all these items and eliminate the need to hunt through ten dashboards to piece a threat together. I find it very easy to navigate and customize the dashboard to fit my team's needs once everything is set up, and it is very simple to view the dashboard after setup. Cloud and hybrid support is another valuable feature of SecureWorks Taegis VDR, as it supports on-premise and cloud workloads, managing endpoints and network traffic to provide centralized visibility regardless of where my assets live, whether in the cloud or on-premise. SecureWorks Taegis VDR has positively impacted my organization because of its ease of use. The positive impacts include faster incident response, as I can detect, investigate, and contain threats much faster because it shows the full attack path in one place with deeper analysis of everything, and it reduces alert fatigue by consolidating alerts into one or two high-confidence incidents, which improves analysis efficiency and morale.

Pros

"One of the features I appreciate is the ability to generate daily reports without relying on anyone else."
"Its excellent graphical interface makes the scanning process simple."
"The best feature would be the ability to create policies. It is easy to control and update policies as required."
"TotalCloud offers a comprehensive suite of features, including EDR, XDR, and TrueRisk, providing a centralized platform for managing vulnerabilities and security risks."
"Qualys TotalCloud has positively impacted our organization by helping us save time and manage all assets and remediation, allowing us to achieve quarterly and half-yearly goals."
"Qualys TotalCloud is an excellent platform, and the beauty of the platform is that we can get all the vulnerabilities, see all the reports in a single dashboard, view them segregated, and easily learn about critical, high, and medium findings with appropriately provided remediation steps."
"Once you have your vulnerabilities fixed and your patches pushed out using Qualys TotalCloud, then you are able to eliminate threats and cyber risk."
"In my opinion, this is the best tool."
"Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management is definitely good for a big company; it really helps you keep an eye on your whole environment rather than little pieces here and there throughout your tech stack."
"ESAM covers the entire attack surface, discovers more, and provides complete details about the assets, such as the external interface and internal interface, correlating them so we get the complete details of the assets, which were not given by the other solution."
"Qualys CSAM helps find all the assets. It categorizes information based on various criteria such as host and tenant version. It provides in-depth visibility into both hardware and software."
"Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management has helped to improve the organization's security posture significantly."
"The dashboards are my favorite feature; I can pull up information and create my own dashboards specifically for what I'm looking for."
"The asset management part is very simple and essential, and Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management was particularly effective because the information was available exactly where needed, enabling automation and quick access to necessary answers."
"Authorized and unauthorized software visibility is the best feature for me. It helps me understand security controls on our network and where we lack visibility. With a single security tool, we are able to get an extensive list."
"I appreciate the feature that simplifies cloud security posture, offering insights into vulnerabilities, and reducing the complexity of managing the security program."
"SecureWorks Taegis VDR's best features include unified detection and response, as it pulls in alerts and logs from all my different tools such as EDR, SIEM, firewall, cloud services, and Windows machines, collecting everything into one clean dashboard where I can view all these items and eliminate the need to hunt through ten dashboards to piece a threat together."
"It is a one-stop solution for different needs with separate APIs. The product offers different solutions for different companies."
"I chose SecureWorks Taegis VDR because I trust SecureWorks, having worked with McAfee, Symantec, Trend Micro, Kaspersky, Carbon Black, Cylance, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Cortex XDR, and more, and I would say SecureWorks Taegis VDR is outstanding among all the other vendors in terms of functionality, ease of access, and UI friendliness."

Cons

"Qualys TotalCloud needs to enhance its scanning capabilities in the IP domain, as it currently lacks the functionality to resolve IPs to their corresponding domain names."
"TotalCloud could improve the classification of vulnerabilities. Specifically, it could enhance the categorization of what aspects fall under patches resolved by OS or software updates and what pertains to configuration adjustments."
"The support is not up to the mark and seems to be overburdened."
"The onboarding process is a bit difficult. In the initial phase, it is very difficult to understand the features, what the dashboard contains, and what criteria they are using."
"TotalCloud could improve its scanning of niche devices like Wi-Fi dongles and USB modems because they are often untested. It covers everything else, like laptops, mobile devices, and Bluetooth IoT devices. They can improve on the small IoT devices because hackers and testers use these."
"The price is very expensive, actually."
"Enhancing clarity regarding its compliance capabilities would be beneficial, as the current scope is limited in geographic coverage."
"I would appreciate additional integration options to connect Qualys TotalCloud with our other vulnerability management tools."
"One improvement that they can make in the EASM module is the scan frequency. After EASM is configured the first time, it allows you to do the complete configuration, but if you want to reconfigure it, it will not ask or provide any option for scan frequency. For that, you need to raise a case with Qualys and talk to the Qualys team."
"As of now, the support, results, and low false positives do not necessitate changes."
"The UI and menu navigation has improved significantly, however, the menus could still be clunky, making navigation within the assets challenging."
"It is automatically exporting the vulnerabilities and the assets. However, it would be useful to have the ability to select or to filter which we would like to export."
"In my opinion, the area that needs improvement is the role-based access control (RBAC). The access privilege management needs to be more robust and streamlined to enhance user access management. Additionally, improvements to the user interface could be beneficial."
"Qualys CyberSecurity Asset Management is moderately good, while Rapid7 is slightly much better."
"Some areas that would be helpful are more comprehensive tagging and the ability to set up better dynamic rules."
"There can be further simplification to reduce the overall noise and provide ESAM-related data."
"I would like to improve SecureWorks Taegis VDR by enhancing the dashboard to provide a holistic view with granular data."
"There is always room for improvement in SecureWorks Taegis VDR, especially regarding user interface and navigation, as the platform is powerful but the UI can feel complex for new users."
"SecureWorks Taegis VDR is very stable, though there is scope for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing for TotalCloud is attractive and competitive in the market. Given the features, especially the dashboard, I have no concerns regarding pricing."
"While Qualys TotalCloud's pricing is currently acceptable, it is becoming increasingly expensive and may soon be considered overpriced."
"Qualys TotalCloud offers competitive pricing given its comprehensive suite of features, including integration, assessment, remediation, and detection capabilities, all within a single platform."
"Its price seems higher compared to other tools, but it is worth it. If they could adjust the pricing and make it comparable with other tools, that would be great."
"The pricing is comparable. It is built into our other product, so I cannot piecemeal it. It is a part of our subscription."
"Qualys TotalCloud is cost-efficient and was selected for its value compared to other products."
"Qualys TotalCloud is expensive, but it offers a premier solution with no headaches."
"I am not sure about the pricing. From what I understand, it is a bit on the higher side, but I do not have the exact numbers."
"It is cost-effective because, in a single tool, we are getting everything. All the solutions come in a single license or price."
"The pricing is reasonable relative to the features provided, as it collects all module data and operates as a main, centralized inventory, making it a cost-effective solution."
"The pricing for Qualys Cybersecurity Asset Management is reasonable, with an annual subscription costing around $1,000 per year or a monthly subscription starting at approximately $72 per month, depending on the specific package and features included."
"The pricing is fair. I would love to see the price come down a little bit, but we do get a lot of value out of it. We are squeezing every ounce of value we can out of the tool."
"The Qualys Cybersecurity Asset Management pricing is well-aligned with our usage."
"Though the solution is considered expensive, if bundled with other services such as VMDR or cloud agents, its value would significantly increase. It is currently a bit costly, but with bundling, it could become attractive to more customers."
"Qualys offers excellent value for money."
"Qualys is competitively priced for its features. Its pricing is suitable for large organizations with more than 4,000 assets, but for smaller organizations with few assets, such as banks, the costs might be high. They should come up with packages that are suitable for small organizations."
