Fast, has good extraction, validation, and transformation features, and provides good support
Though validation is good and fast enough in Oracle Data Quality, an area for improvement is the accuracy of the validation. Though the solution offers multidimensional validation, it needs a bit more improvement in the accuracy aspect because smaller products can offer better accuracy in terms of validation compared to Oracle Data Quality. What I'd like to see from the solution in its next release, is an increase in compliances and regulations that would allow it to cover all industries because multiple verticals demand data quality nowadays, and this improvement will be helpful as Oracle Data Quality is an in-built delivered solution.

Has automated recurring data flows and improved accuracy in reporting
The best features of Talend Data Integration are its rich set of components that let you connect to almost any data design intuitive and its strong automation and scheduling capabilities. The TMap component is especially valuable because it allows flexible transformation, joins, and filtering in a single place. I also rely a lot on context variables to manage different environments like Dev, Test, and production, without changing the code. The error handling and logging tools are very helpful for monitoring and troubleshooting, which makes the workflow more reliable. Talend Data Integration has helped our company by automating and standardizing data processes. Before, many of these tasks were done manually, which took more time and often led to errors. With Talend Data Integration, we built automated pipelines that extract, clean, and load data consistently. This not only saves hours of manual effort, but also improves the accuracy and reliability of data. As a result, business teams had faster access to trustworthy information for reporting and decision making, which directly improved efficiency and productivity. Talend Data Integration has had a measurable impact on our organization. By automating daily data loading processes, we reduced manual effort by around three or four hours per day, which saved roughly 60 to 80 hours per month. We also improved data accuracy. Error rates dropped by more than 70% because validation rules were built into the jobs. In addition, reporting teams now receive fresh data at least 50% faster, which means they can make decisions earlier and with more confidence. Overall, Talend Data Integration has increased both efficiency and reliability in our data workflows.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The technical support is very good; we had a good experience with the support."
"I'd recommend this solution to anyone who is using data quality or would want to know the quality of data in their company and fix the data."
"Compared to the competition, Oracle Data Quality is a very flexible and advanced product."
"Once it is set up, it is easy to use and maintain."
"The features I like most about Oracle Data Quality include extraction, transformation, and validation, which makes it a multipurpose product such as Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Data Integrator. I also like that Oracle Data Quality is very fast, so you can use it for a large volume of data within a short period. You have to do the validation very quickly, so the solution helps in that area of data quality. Another feature of Oracle Data Quality that I like is the MDM (Master Data Management) where you'll have a single source of protection, and this makes the solution perfect and helpful to my company."
"With Oracle Data Quality, the most valuable feature is entity matching."
"However, I think Oracle Data Quality is definitely worth giving a try."
"OEDQ helped us to define Data Quality issues from a business perspective by business users and ability to manage those issues within our ETL tool (Oracle Data Integrator - ODI)."
"I'm very passionate about this solution because if you look at any other tool that costs around $200 - $300,000, like Delphix which costs you a million dollars, Talend is very cheap and is almost is at par with what others can do. There is one thing which Delphix does which Talend cannot do, but overall, I would say apart from that, if you're looking for a solution, you should give it a try."
"Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) transformations are open source and is a valuable feature."
"Talend Studio has the ability to connect to almost anything to integrate data from files, databases, web services, etc."
"You move data from one source to another without problem and apply some business rules in data."
"Overall, the management and running environment are very stable, and I would rate it an eight out of ten."
"We can develop our own code if we do not see the functionality we need."
"The scheduling part of the solution is very good."
"With its frequency function, we were able to pick a line of business to be addressed first in one of our conversion projects."

Cons

"There are some challenges with respect to standardization, matching, segregation, and merging."
"If the length of time required for deployment was reduced then it would be very helpful."
"The initial setup was complicated, there is a lot of configuration that needs to be done."
"We have experienced some system crashes i.e. when tying to run Data Profiling Processes for very large data sets."
"Mobile support and mobile app can be implemented, since business users generally prefers to work with their laptops and mobile phones."
"Integration performance and availability of out of the box integration to more products (ERP Tools, Data Cleansing Software etc.)."
"Oracle is currently not that intuitive. We need to use programmers to write code for a lot of the procedures. We need to have them write CL SQL code and write a CL script."
"Though validation is good and fast enough in Oracle Data Quality, an area for improvement is the accuracy of the validation. Though the solution offers multidimensional validation, it needs a bit more improvement in the accuracy aspect because smaller products can offer better accuracy in terms of validation compared to Oracle Data Quality. What I'd like to see from the solution in its next release, is an increase in compliances and regulations that would allow it to cover all industries because multiple verticals demand data quality nowadays, and this improvement will be helpful as Oracle Data Quality is an in-built delivered solution."
"Heap space issues plague us consistently. We maxed it out and it runs fine, then it doesn’t, then it does."
"The solution's memory sometimes bottlenecks and that can be challenging."
"The stability is good, but the performance is slower when I work on a huge amount of data."
"I would say that some of the support elements need improvement."
"The pricing is a little higher than what I had expected, but it's comparable with I-PASS competitors."
"Account for Java developers/custom development efforts apart from DQ functional/technical expertise, to use Talend DQ product to the fullest."
"Needs integrated data governance in terms of dictionaries, glossaries, data lineage, and impact analysis. It also needs operationalization of meta-data."
"There are too many functions which could be streamlined."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The vendor needs to revisit their pricing strategy."
"The price of this solution is comparable to other similar solutions."
"The price of the Talend Data Management Platform is reasonable. The other competing solutions are priced high. Gartner Magic Quadrant identified other solutions, such as Informatica, that are far more expensive."
"I would advise to first take a look and at the Open Studio edition. Figure out what you need and purchase the appropriate license."
"The tool is cheap."
"The licensing cost is about 40,000 Euros a year."
"It is cheaper than Informatica. Talend Data Quality costs somewhere between $10,000 to $12,000 per year for a seat license. It would cost around $20,000 per year for a concurrent license. It is the same for the whole big data solution, which comes with Talend DI, Talend DQ, and TDM."
"The pricing is a little higher than what I had expected, but it's comparable with I-PASS competitors."
"The solution's pricing is very reasonable and half the cost of Informatica."
"Moreover, the pricing structure stands out as highly competitive compared to other offerings in the market, making it a cost-effective choice for users."
