We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features of the solution revolve around its performance, simplicity, and its installation phase.""We use the solution for our Java applications.""Easy management (it saves a lot of installation and patching time).""The main feature is the management and manageability of the tool. We can create a VM on a laptop within a couple of clicks.""The solution is pretty automated, which takes out the possibility of human error.""The product is very light.""The most valuable feature is the performance.""The database is solid."

"What I like most about SAP Business Warehouse is its ability to feed data into new, multiple systems in various formats. It can open its data to any system over gateway services or a portal or application that needs to consume and analyze data.""Predominantly, our company uses SAP Business Warehouse for reporting purposes across various departments, especially for managers to gain a quick understanding of their current standing and make informed decisions.""Now, because of the HANA integration, the hard disk and RAM are together, and because of that, the output is very quick and very fast actually.""The most useful feature is definitely the speed.""What I like most about SAP Business Warehouse is that it's a seamless integration platform. A valuable feature in the tool is the monitoring alert that makes you aware of what process chain has failed. There's no manual monitoring required if you have configured an alert system, so the process chain can run in the background, and you can get alerts about it. The functionalities I find good in SAP Business Warehouse are alerting and monitoring. If you have configured the tool and have integrated it with SAP Solution Manager, then it's a good product to use.""The most valuable aspect of the solution is the integration with SAP ERP.""The most valuable feature of SAP Business Warehouse is its hybrid functionality, allowing users to leverage both SQL-based data warehouse capabilities from HANA and feature-based data warehousing from BW.""The product is very stable."

Cons
"Oracle Database Appliance could improve by having better integration.""Since we don't have the room to scale up, I rate this solution a six out of ten for scalability.""The product's pricing is too high. We plan to migrate to another database in three to four years.""Even though the solution can handle a lot of data, it's just too expensive currently.""I would be happy to see the Oracle Auto Service Request (ASR) pre-installed in it instead of installing it in a separate machine.""I would like it if the scalability could be increased without having to change versions.""Virtualization needs improvement. It's not easy to back up the virtual machines in the Oracle VM architecture. I would also like to see native support for Veeam Backup Software.""The feature that I would like to see improve is the interface. It is really not good. I almost have to work on script by script in it. There is always some issue with the user interface."

"It takes more work to get the data, including reporting on that data, because some coding is required, and a significant level of transformation is needed when using SAP Business Warehouse.""A few things which are missing include the visualization of reports. That's where your costs and licensing become heavy. When it comes to this database compared Microsoft Warehouse, it's an expensive solution.""There is room for improvement from a technical perspective.""What I'd like improved in SAP Business Warehouse is its setup. It could be more flexible, and it could be a configuration-based setup.""It's a product that is at the end of life so they will not improve it anymore.""Areas for improvement in SAP Business Warehouse include enhancing scheduling and monitoring tools, as well as improving communication about hidden features to make them more accessible to users.""You can start quickly but, when you have to get a little more detailed, when you have to change something, when you have to solve problems, it's not that easy. It's easy to start but evolving is not that easy.""So far, the initial setup process in our company has not been easy enough for us to understand."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Get benefit from the capacity-on-demand features. License your cores according to your licenses."
  • "Leverage the Pay-As-You-Grow licensing, and consider using the ODA X6-2 S/M/L models also for SE2/SE."
  • "In regards to licensing, it is cheaper to maintain for Oracle applications, and it's an all-in-one solution."
  • "The price should be lower."
  • "You must pay for the license."
  • "The price of the solution should be less expensive. However, they will increase the price more."
  • "I don’t know ODA and alternative system prices. But Oracle the database license is quite expensive and a lot of my customers plan to migrate to open source databases like PostgreSQL."
  • "Compared to Oracle Exadata, Oracle Database Appliance is affordable."

  • "It's moderately expensive, but definitely has its branding and price value for it."
  • "It's quite pricey. SAP changed its pricing policy, so they give you one engine and then you have to buy everything next to it, like MSS, the BPC licenses, and everything else."
  • "The license for SAP Business Warehouse is paid yearly, and there's no extra cost in addition to the standard licensing fees."
  • "Overall, the pricing is not fixed and is expensive."
  • "The licensing cost for SAP Business Warehouse depends on your revenue. Its licensing structure is a little bit complicated. The more your revenue is, the higher the price, but SAP does have different pricing structures for various companies. For small businesses, licensing isn't based on revenue, but for big companies, it's revenue-based. There's some agreement regarding pricing for huge companies, so it's different, and SAP Business Warehouse pricing isn't fixed. On a scale of one to ten, I'm rating the licensing cost for SAP Business Warehouse as five because it's very high. As your revenue grows, your licensing cost also increases, so you have to factor that in when calculating your cost."
  • "SAP Business Warehouse licensing is a bit expensive compared to other products in the market."
  • "I would not recommend it to small-scale companies. The price is too much."
  • "The solution is quite expensive."
