Facilitating real-time business insights with enhanced data querying
Coherence is beneficial due to its multi-indexing to the same object and filtering based on data attributes within the object, followed by aggregation. These features facilitate querying data with multiple keys rather than just a single key. Its real-time data processing capabilities provide insights for business decisions with up-to-date information.

The functions and features of Oracle Enterprise Manager that I have found most valuable are its evolution from being problematic in 10g and 11g versions to becoming better and more stable. Now it has become a significantly improved product. We have integrated identity management, and we are using it for normal database examination, tuning, and performance. We are working with STATSPACK and similar tools that are integrated in Oracle Enterprise Manager. We are currently working with version 13.5, having upgraded from 13.4 last year. Automation is useful for improving operational efficiency, and there are many more opportunities to automate outside the databases. Not many things need to be automated inside the databases. We have jobs running, imports, exports, and similar tasks. To automate these processes, we utilize the Scheduler from Oracle, which is managed in the databases by the vendor. This is not part of our DBA functions in Oracle Enterprise Manager.

"This product helped our organization to focus on implementing business logic without worrying about scalability on user loads of huge data queries."
"It was suited for stock exchange marketing software, improved performance."
"The biggest improvement is in speed - everything is faster from record retrieval to workflow processing."
"In my experience, while working on customers’ solutions where performance is a key requirement, along with robustness and stability needs, I have always found Oracle Coherence as the best solution for integrating with different Oracle products and caching data for application-specific needs."
"It helped us to cache the data in memory and improved performance by 10x."
"Space consumption is much less."
"The product is great, simple, and easy to use and integrate."
"We need 99.9995 uptime, and Oracle Enterprise Manager helps us to achieve this goal with its superior monitoring and management capabilities."
"It has improved significantly our monitoring and tuning of our databases."
"Oracel Enterprise Manager is must if you have too many oracle databases across the landscape"
"Some of the most valuable features are its real-time performance view/dashboard, metric history, real-time monitoring and alerts, as well as quick access to Oracle's tuning and diagnostic options."
"The dashboards are great for gathering analytic information and seeing where the problems are."
"It allows me to manage resources effectively and monitor active sessions."
"I really love this tool because I don't need to type the commands, it's very user friendly, I just click and get the reports and get it done."
"In my experience it seems the best tool for monitoring Oracle products, ranging from software to hardware like the engineered systems (e.g. Exadata)."

Cons

"OSB could be tuned to do things like Apigee."
"Initial setup was complex. We wrote a lot of wrapper code around the Coherence libraries in order to make it easier for the developer."
"Complexity being a huge contributor to risk/cost for projects, I am more likely to use other products as a result."
"The initial setup is complex and time-consuming."
"I would like to see a more modern API like Hazelcast or Infinispan."
"Data transfer performance over geographical locations. Oracle database has better performance compared to Coherence when accessed from different regions."
"The cross-site or cross-data center replication seems slow. This can be improved."
"Due to the licensing prices, we are looking for other solutions as an alternative to Coherence."
"One of the big problems we had was using Data Guard along with OEM; it just didn’t work (Data Guard is a local higher level solution). Every time we did a takeover, it would stop working, so that was the biggest challenge we had."
"I would like to see more functionality/information in Standard Edition Oracle for the same performance analysis."
"We would like to have a single dashboard for monitoring and controlling all of our products. This would add value, for us, because as it is now, we have to go to different screens to check different products."
"There are a lot of options; it takes time. I don't see anything like a dashboard or something similar."
"There are limited numbers of other OEM devices that can be integrated into enterprise management that can be scaled by Oracle by adding other OEM devices to enterprise management."
"The storage system monitoring is really a little basic. They just give the symptoms, not the solutions."
"It's expensive. We are paying on a yearly basis, but we are currently negotiating for a new license."
"Metrics settings could be improved to be more intuitive. Installation process could be easier."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The basic functions are free. You only pay license fees for advanced features."
"Oracle Enterprise Manager is a free-of-cost solution. Oracle Enterprise Manager can be expensive only if you go for its licensing part."
"The pricing is very high."
"There are a few bugs with the software which require opening SRs with Oracle Support which contribute to the day-to-day cost. Perhaps 8 hours per month is spent dealing with support, just as a rough guess."
"Based upon 3 days of implementation by a single person, plus licensing costs would be approximately $60,000, including the virtualized hosts."
"As far as I know, you do not pay for Oracle Enterprise Manager separately. You can use Enterprise Manager for free if you already have an Oracle license for your database."
"The licensing is the responsibility of our customers."
"Initially, our deal was for three years, and we extended it to five years. Oracle solutions are very costly."
