Even moving the service over to another server can be done very easily. Although, having the ability to automate some things would be nice.
Customer Service: Customer service is 10/10. The sales rep I dealt with was great and always stays in communication. Technical Support: Technical Support is 10/10. They have a chat window, where you can start a chat after you log in to your server if you are having a problem. They even have a way to create a ticket from the login screen in the configured options, in which you can attach logs directly.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"With a single click, anyone can find and fix old, broken or invalid snapshots."
"The ability to analyze my virtual infrastructure data against a rule base of 730+ rules has been the most valuable."
"Replication and restore object in Exchange boxes with possibility to select part of Microsoft directory."
"It really just works, we don't have backup issues anymore."
"The backup and restore features are the most valuable."
"We like Veeam as it is the kind of backup that has basic snapshots, is very useful for us as we have a lot of virtual servers, has special features like replication and different kinds of backup that we can use, and it adapted to our complex network design when other solutions could not, while remaining stable with good performance and strong scalability."
"We have seen a return on our investment within two years."
"The backup features are valuable."
"After we started using Veeam, we transferred all our 30 virtual servers in seven hours to our disaster recovery side."
"It is very easy to implement and by far a better product than any I have seen so far."

Cons

"Having the ability to automate some things would be nice but is not a requirement with the product today."
"There is a lot of room for improvement, but the primary issue we have is that it's not built for the cloud."
"Additional executive summary reports for the entire infrastructure would be a nice to have."
"Since this is a pure 95% virtualized solution for Hyper-V or vSphere, this product could do more to backup individual files, databases, and or complete guest OS."
"They could include better automation features for migrating VMs without further configuration for the product."
"If you upgrade too quickly, you may have issues."
"Better reporting of replication job details in order to provide better insights when troubleshooting."
"I think Veeam needs to improve the file installation process, as well as more technical things like snapping feature issues."
"Veeam currently lacks features for backing up to network-attached storage. Veeam Backup & Replication agents do not support S3 storage. Only Veeam Backup & Replication server supports S3 storage."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Our licensing runs for five years, and after that time we do the renewal. There haven't been any further costs beyond our initial licensing plan because our customer is satisfied with the setup that has been configured and the overall backup environment."
"The licensing is the worst part of Veeam Backup Replication because for the more complex situations and it's quite difficult and complex. In particular, when mixing different requirements the licensing model is complex. For example, mixing a virtual machine backup and a file server backup in the same installation can be somewhat difficult and is expensive."
"I acknowledge there are concerns about pricing, specifically in gaining more customers for VM. We've encountered difficulties in convincing them due to pricing issues. So, I rate it a six."
"The license cost is per socket, per processor. We can have one license with two processors and we can cover everything inside of the test environment that we have."
"The license subscription could be more straightforward."
"Customers require a perpetual license for the product. However, along with the license, they must also subscribe to the support service for one year or three years under a separate contract."
"We purchase a license annually."
"We have increased our scalability while being able to free up senior resources from recovery activities. I estimate our overall savings to about $20,000 per year."

VMware SRM vs. Veeam vs. Zerto
Disaster recovery planning is something that seems challenging for all businesses. Virtualization in addition to its operational flexibility, and cost reduction benefits, has helped companies improve their DR posture. Virtualization has made it easier to move machines from production to…
