Authentication process improves security with quick and intuitive user interface
The best feature is the speed and execution of Okta Workforce Identity. The moment you click on single sign-on, you immediately get the notification on your mobile phone, then you do the authentication and within a second you get authenticated. The entire customer experience is very good. The user interface is pretty simple, straightforward, and really good. Multi-factor authentication in Okta Workforce Identity is very useful so people who do not have access or are trying to access using just a user ID and password will be completely blocked because of this two-factor authentication. You will get the code, and as your device is authorized in the system, only that device can be used for the authentication purpose. A third person trying to access or hack your data will not be able to do that anymore. Additionally, you don't have to remember your passwords going forward. Previously, every 60 days or 90 days, passwords kept changing. With the two-factor authentication or single sign-on option in Okta Workforce Identity, you don't have to remember it anymore or write down passwords in plain text. If something goes wrong, we have the IAM team which can unlock your account immediately if you have issues.

Automates our user provisioning process and integrates very well with other SAP products but needs better integration with non-SAP products
We use it to automate our user provisioning process. It is used for managing access of SAP users; for example, they can do password reset or assign technical rules to themselves. It is also used for identifying risks It is an SAP product, so it integrates very well with other SAP products. It…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Okta controls all the users. It has context-based access from the user and type of device. It identifies the risk and can do a step of authentication when that user is trying to access some sensitive application from an unknown device."
"A solution that's easy to use, stable, and reliable."
"My total rating for Okta is ten out of ten."
"The most useful features of Okta for my organization are identity and access management, single sign-on, and the flexibility for hybrid setups."
"Its integration components are most valuable. It integrates with everything in some way. There are some products, such as O365 or AD, with which it completely and 100% integrates. So, you can seamlessly create accounts across the board with some of these products. For some of the products with which it doesn't completely integrate, you can do some kind of interfacing."
"We face no challenges in integrating the product with our legacy systems."
"The tool helps improve our security and productivity."
"The most valuable functions are Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)."
"It is an SAP product, so it integrates very well with other SAP products."

Cons

"You can't hide the device when you're checking logs."
"Therefore, if you have 10 million users, that's almost 100 million, so it is costly."
"UD attribute mapping, Okta group rules, and dynamic usage could use improvement. It also needs more in-depth functionality and features to integrate with RADIUS solutions."
"The error logging could be improved. Okta doesn't provide enough details when you are troubleshooting an issue. It's often difficult to fix it from our end, so we always need additional support from Okta."
"The product is expensive compared to other tools."
"They also have single sign-on (SSO). When we bought Okta Workforce Identity a year and a half ago, I was also looking at SSO, but not much documentation was available for SSO. The documentation for SSO should be a little more robust for somebody who is implementing it for the first time."
"Okta doesn't have a partial push. It pushes down the full profile schema for lifecycle management or provisioning."
"We had an issue with the Okta Workforce Identity dashboard once in 2023 when we had an outage, but it recovered in a few minutes."
"It would be better if we could also manage other systems with it. Currently, you have to purchase plugins for it to work with other non-SAP systems. It would be good if there is an easy way to integrate SAP Access Control with other non-SAP systems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution’s pricing needs to be reasonable. You are dealing with a lot of components and the pricing is component-based."
"This is an expensive solution but the security makes it worthwhile."
"The solution's pricing model could be better for SMBs."
"Though I don't know about the licensing model of the product, I wouldn't be surprised if Okta offers a per user license subscription model."
"Workforce Identity is well-priced."
"The pricing for Okta Workforce Identity could still be improved or made cheaper. It costs from 50 to 100 euros a year per user. Okta Workforce Identity has different packages you can choose from, and my previous company had all of them, particularly the full Okta suite."
"The product has a user-based license model."
"The product's price is high. For each feature, a certain payment is required."
"It is a part of our package with SAP. There is no extra cost in addition to the license."
