Custom cohort dashboards have transformed customer tracking but still need richer built‑in visuals
From my perspective, adding more custom visualizations as inbuilt features would be greatly beneficial for developers and other teams. For specific visualizations, we currently need to use Python and JavaScript combinations to create great visualizations such as cohort analysis. If these visualizations were added by default to Mode Enterprise, it would be beneficial for all of us. There are common visualizations that are not currently in Mode Enterprise but should be added. There are advantages and disadvantages to the current state. The advantages mainly include the ability to combine all datasets, which definitely reduces time. Because Python and JavaScript are supported, we can develop cohort dashboards, which many other BI tools do not support. Mode Enterprise supports cohort dashboards, which is a significant advantage.

Ease of developing dashboards and receiving strong technical support have enabled efficient data visualization
Introducing custom features, such as NLP-based reports, is not very good in Tableau. My MD has been asking us for a way to write in natural language to request reports that the system should generate, but that isn't very effective with Tableau. As a developer, I can develop an on-demand report in Python quite easily, but exposing a REST API on the Tableau platform is not a very easy task. AI enablement is an area for improvement for Tableau, and that is something they might have to work upon. I have heard that ThoughtSpot is quite better in this regard, but the cost of ThoughtSpot is much higher. ThoughtSpot has lots of natural language-based report generation features that Tableau lacks.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most important feature of the solution is the ability to run Python-based scripts."
"The solution is simple for people from a viewing perspective, not a coding perspective."
"I have used many other BI tools, but when I compare other BI tools with Mode Enterprise, I find it more interesting because it supports Amazon Redshift and cloud-related technology as well as some static-related technology, and it also supports customization through coding with JavaScript and Python."
"Mode Enterprise positively impacted my organization with its clean visualization and slightly faster response times."
"The tool helps to catch results and review them."
"The most valuable feature I would say is the flexibility in editing."
"The solution has a lot of customization when comparing to Microsoft BI."
"It has made the reporting stage simple and enabled us to focus mainly on the ETL part"
"I believe the most valuable feature of Tableau is the flexibility it offers with regard to the types of visualizations the user can create."
"The ability to present data is very effective, providing great impact and good online information."
"I work for clients. That is my business model. Business people really like to see Tableau. They love Tableau because it is very user-friendly. The platform provides an easy to use interface, which is what most people like about it."
"The most valuable features of Tableau include building hyper extracts and creating visuals."
"The ability of filtering and segmentation of the data makes it very flexible compared to other tools."
"Customer Service: Very good."

Cons

"Mode Analytics needs to improve the overall user experience."
"I think in terms of User Interface, I would say it can be better."
"The solution could run faster."
"Mode Enterprise can be improved by reducing the cost, as I think the enterprise version is much costlier."
"From my perspective, adding more custom visualizations as inbuilt features would be greatly beneficial for developers and other teams."
"The data visualization is cumbersome in Mode Analytics. I want the solution to add a map that has an easy interface. The UI is slow sometimes."
"Improvements needed for Tableau Enterprise include simplifying the initialization setup and enhancing data refresh performance, especially when dealing with a large data set, where I can see delays."
"Tableau is a company that does not respect partners."
"Its documentation can be improved so that a user can get a good hands-on experience. Tableau is well documented, and on their website, there are a lot of tutorials that are available for free. I started my learning process through those tutorials, but there are certain loopholes in those tutorials, which only got filled through a couple of good YouTube channels that talk about Tableau. YouTube helped me a lot. So, the documentation could be better, I understand that it is evolving day by day, and with more usage, there would be more such documentation."
"With reference to the issue stated above, we noted that Tableau did not attempt to provide any resolution for the issue."
"Tableau 8.3 did not scale properly."
"Sometimes, data retrieval was slow I had a bad experience viewing the reports with Microsoft IE or Chrome."
"In v8.1 there was a problem with big Excel files - for ex: if you have an Excel spreadsheet with three sheets and more then 300,000 rows in each one and you want to add it as one datasource linked by one key field - your Tableau Desktop will be very slowly."
"The pricing is a bit expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"My decision-maker found the pricing expensive, but it is okay for me."
"Mode Analytics is cheap compared to other tools."
"The pricing is per user."
"For the use and the capability of the software, it's $70 per month, and that is quite inexpensive."
"It is a bit overpriced."
"I wish there was more of a subscription model with the pricing when it comes to Tableau, so you can get all the latest version upgrades/features if you pay monthly/annually."
"Its price is a concern. It is more expensive than Power BI. My guess would be that it is $1000 or less per year. We might go for Power BI in the future because of its umbrella with Microsoft licensing. It is much cheaper for us to use Power BI, and some folks will go in that direction because they don't want to pay the higher license."
"There is a license for this solution and we pay on an annual basis."
"Tableau's prices are relatively high for our market. I am from Serbia, so many companies in this market don't have the ability to pay for expensive software. My clients are quite satisfied with a lot of Tableau's qualities except for the prices."
"Tableau is an expensive solution, though it comes with its advantages."
"The product's price is relatively inexpensive and manageable for enterprise-level companies."
