Document processing has accelerated contract reviews and enabled rapid development of AI-driven supply chain solutions
With regard to security, compliance, or governance features in Azure AI Foundry, this is something that we have started looking into, primarily using Microsoft Purview for our governance, data governance. There is this new module called DSPM for AI, and we are exploring it while trying to operationalize it with different policies and so forth, but we're still not where we want to be on the governance, AI governance side. It's a process and a path, and we are trying to work through that right now. Azure AI Foundry can be improved from the governance perspective, as a lot can be done. The promising part is the recent announcement on the Foundry control plane. A couple of days back, there was an announcement regarding it bringing in some of the gaps that were on the platform, so it's a really positive direction in terms of where it's going. More governance is what is lacking, but the control plane will really play a big role there.

Improved model deployment on edge devices, but compatibility and scalability present challenges
I found OpenVINO's ability to convert custom models into its format particularly beneficial, as businesses sometimes require unique models specific to their use cases. Utilizing OpenVINO allowed me to run these custom models on devices directly, which I found quite impressive. Additionally, the Model Zoo offered by OpenVINO added value to the product.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Having Azure AI Foundry as a tool has benefited our organization significantly because our team has five data scientists, and this type of tool makes everything much faster."
"Azure AI Foundry has affected our management of privacy, performance, and compliance primarily based on our location in the UK, where it is more focused on the region in terms of where that data is being processed and who has access to it, which is hopefully no one other than us."
"Azure AI Foundry has helped reduce the time taken for AI app and agent development cycles by approximately 50% for one use case."
"Azure AI Foundry has helped me reduce the time taken for AI app and agent development significantly because it takes over a lot of the infrastructure work of connecting to these models."
"With Document Intelligence, we just went through Foundry, enabled Document Intelligence, and we were able to get everything done in less than 90 days for the complete end-to-end solution we built on that."
"The feature of Azure AI Foundry that I prefer most is the guardrails, as it is much easier than the one that Bedrock in AWS provides."
"Azure AI Foundry is flexible and helped me reduce the time taken for AI app and agent development through the integrity and integration of various applications that we are able to achieve."
"These features have benefited our organization by allowing us to release new products and new offerings this year, accelerate our growth, and quickly drive our AI agents into customers' hands."
"The features for model comparison, the feature for model testing, evaluation, and deployment are very nice, and it can work almost with all the models."
"The initial setup is quite simple."
"The benefit from using OpenVINO is that NVIDIA is dominating the market of GPUs and they set the price, so if I am able to run an LLM doing inference in commodity hardware, I am saving costs."
"One positive aspect about OpenVINO is that it supports more frameworks than the Google Coral TPU."
"Intel's support team is very good."
"The runtime of OpenVINO is highly valuable for running different computer vision models."
"Compared to Jetson Nano or Jetson TX2, or Jetson Xavier, OpenVINO is a much more cost-effective solution."
"The inferencing and processing capabilities are quite beneficial for our requirements."

Cons

"My experience with Azure AI Foundry's pricing, setup cost, and licensing was a mess."
"My biggest critique is some of the fragmentation of their different AI services they have, including AI Open, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, and Azure Foundry. They feel very disjointed sometimes, so having a unified single experience for all of that would be ideal."
"My experience with deploying Azure AI Foundry is that, at this point in time, given the limited capabilities available in Foundry, we built pro-code agents, hosted them, containerized them, and deployed them."
"On a very common end or whatever is available on the basic pricing, I think Microsoft tools are priced on a higher side compared to its competitors."
"I find that the online documentation can sometimes be confusing, requiring extensive searching through multiple articles to locate specific information."
"Right now, because of the UI and the complexity of it, it is complicated and cumbersome, and I think figuring out how to simplify that would probably make it a faster process."
"I do see some disadvantages that could be improved. The document management side of it needs work."
"For Azure AI Foundry, there is no actual clear pricing structure, which can be confusing for customers to understand, as every feature that you activate has its own price, and it is not very clear sometimes to define the pricing."
"I couldn't get it to run on my Raspberry Pi 4 because the software packages to download were no longer available."
"Scalability is a challenge with OpenVINO, particularly when I try to connect multiple streams of input or run multiple edge devices consecutively."
"I think that it's not properly designed for scalability. It's designed for other purposes, specifically to be able to use Intel hardware and run inference using generative models or deep learning models in Intel hardware."
"The model optimization is a little bit slow — it could be improved."
"It has some disadvantages because when you're working with very complex models, neural networks, if OpenVINO cannot convert them automatically and you have to do a custom layer and later add it to the model, it is difficult."
"At this point, the product could probably just use a greater integration with more machine learning model tools."
"It would be great if OpenVINO could convert new models into its format more quickly."
