Microsoft Azure and Netlify Platform compete in the cloud services space. Microsoft Azure has the upper hand in scalability and enterprise-level support, while Netlify is notable for ease of deployment and developer-friendly features.
Features: Microsoft Azure offers extensive cloud services, robust integration with Microsoft products, and high scalability. Netlify Platform features Jamstack architecture, seamless CI/CD integration, and simplified static site deployments.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Netlify Platform provides intuitive deployment with automated build processes and integrated Git workflows. Microsoft Azure requires more initial configuration and technical expertise. Azure provides extensive support resources, while Netlify offers streamlined assistance, especially for smaller projects.
Pricing and ROI: Microsoft Azure has higher setup costs but offers significant ROI for enterprises with comprehensive cloud infrastructure needs. Netlify Platform provides cost-effective pricing beneficial for smaller projects, enhancing productivity and reducing time-to-market. Azure's ROI comes from its scalability and enterprise utility.
Instead of purchasing and managing a physical server, a company can host an application on Microsoft Azure and pay only for consumed resources, reducing infrastructure and operational costs.
The value for money is good, and Microsoft Azure has positively impacted our operational costs.
When we use Microsoft Azure, it provides enhanced security from our perspective, though I am not certain about the financial return on investment or benefits for our users as I do not have that information.
Time saved is exponential because the amount of work that gets done in a sprint is accelerated because of Netlify Platform.
It already improved the developer experience and also the client experience with us, and even the management experience and the testing experience.
There was a lot of money saved, as we were building the application from scratch and paying employees using our own technical skills to build the application.
Microsoft needs to engage L3 and L2 in support when specified in service tickets.
We eventually get the resolution we seek.
I would rate their technical support a ten because we have various support channels available.
However, I see there are options for AI and customer service; before going to customer service, we can select the AI and get help most of the time, as everything is documented.
The response was timely and helpful, and the issues were resolved efficiently.
Netlify Platform's customer support is excellent.
Microsoft Azure is not just one product; it is a platform with multiple products within Microsoft Azure, and I would say it is scalable and would rate it a nine.
The scalability of Microsoft Azure is excellent for growth and adaptation, depending on company requirements.
It has different kinds of designs that allow for management and deployment in multi-zones, offering both scalable and non-scalable options.
The performance stays consistent globally.
There are no issues regarding scalability.
It helps you avoid any errors or bugs in the application, which helps you fix errors too, with automatic testing rather than manual testing.
We noticed a few critical servers went down due to a Microsoft Azure-end hardware issue.
We are now migrating clients without the zoning into mandatory multi-zone deployments, so if one zone goes down, their application and database remain live.
Microsoft Azure is quite stable, but recent outages and security issues have slightly decreased my confidence.
In terms of scalability, it scales very well and easily handles increased traffic, more projects, and growing team usage without any additional infrastructure effort from our side.
It's completely, in my view, 100% stable and always available.
Netlify Platform is generally stable, and I have not experienced significant downtime or issues.
Recent outages and security issues are also a concern, causing a decrease in confidence, especially when partnering with third-party companies.
The administrative side is suitable for technical people, but our finance and HR super users find it less user-friendly, as they prefer drag-and-drop features to build their own solutions without contacting IT.
There is still room for improvement in terms of pricing.
Additionally, more advanced monitoring and logging features inside the platform would be very useful for troubleshooting.
You can add integrations such as API services and a secret service so that users do not have to manage environment variables manually through the GUI or web service.
The improvement must be a powerful back-end support like APIs and databases.
Microsoft solutions might be cheaper than some services like AWS, but some solutions may be more expensive depending on the services compared.
Copilot is expensive based on recent pricing for our POC.
They have discounts and also provide promotions for a three-year reservation which comes with significant discounts on the infrastructure part.
We recommend it for deployment to clients who cannot afford larger budgets for Vercel or AWS.
Since I use the free tier, there is no question about pricing or setup costs.
It was just a monthly subscription.
Power BI, another feature of Azure, is extremely elegant and has robust features that support forecasting using R and Python.
If Microsoft gives a report, such as a server performance report in a detailed way, which shows what is consuming more CPU, memory, and disk IO, and network utilization during a particular time, it would be helpful to visualize that information.
What is very interesting in terms of scalability is the automatic possibilities to provision some new machines to be able to absorb the number of users we have in the system.
The best feature of Netlify Platform is how easily I am able to integrate it with GitHub and GitLab, along with how user-friendly it is.
I have used multiple plugins within it, and they are quite easy to use, such as adding environment variables, adding secrets, and adjusting the size of the hosted application, which means the memory, CPU, and virtual CPU memory are very convenient for me to manage.
When it comes to the new modern frameworks, all the other platforms require extra configurations to get deployed into the DNS servers, but using Netlify Platform, it is easy; everything is handled by Netlify Platform in the backend, and the deployment process and all the CI/CD pipeline that Netlify Platform handles is something which is good in regard to the modern frameworks which are used nowadays.
