Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The record and playback feature is the most valuable feature. It's all driven by the script, so it's a script-based tool where the background tracing starts. Java's background process does a lot of tracing. The process starts in the background. It sees what peaks of volumes that the process can handle. It's easy to use because it's script based, record, and playback. I""The usability and ability to integrate with other solutions is quite good. When I use it in on Azure, then Red Hat is the most likely solution I use. When I use AWS, then I tend to use Lambda functions. In either case, it works well and you can use it either way.""The fact that the solution supports multiple protocols such as open source, VuGen, TruWeb, TruClient, and SAP is very important because these protocols help us to concentrate on what is really needed to produce performance tests. If something is not supported, you have to use other tools or find other ways of assimilating loads.""The TruClient feature is the most valuable for us. An application with testing can only be scripted using TruClient, so it's part web-based, but it also has its own protocol combined with HTTP and HTML. So many other tools do not recognize this specific proprietary protocol. Using TruClient, we can still create scripts that cover everything that we need to cover.""The most valuable feature is that we do not have to accommodate the load-testing infrastructure in our own data center."

"This solution is very easy to learn and any non-programmer or manual tester, with little experience in automation, can pick it up quite easily.""It is easy to maintain and easy to automate. No coding skills are required to automate. It is also easy in terms of transferring knowledge and skills. Many of my team members shifted over the past one and a half years, and there was no big issue with respect to knowledge sharing. It is a good tool that enables me to re-automate my scripts and update my scripts as quickly as possible. Looking at the amount of rework and maintenance activity that we had done for our scripts, it might have been a nightmare with some other scripting tool.""The solution has plenty of features compared to other solutions.""The initial setup isn't too difficult.""The automation engine is very strong, and it is very competitive in the market in terms of features. They develop a lot of features.""It's a simple tool, particularly in terms of system testing. You can also convert and automate using Tricentis Tosca with ease.""The most valuable feature of Tricentis Tosca is it is a completely scriptless automation tool, which I liked a lot. They keep on continuously improving their tools, wherever we are facing any challenges they are able to provide a solution for it. It is easy to learn, everyone can easily read and understand what is happening with the scripts. Any business user or function tester can use the tool efficiently. This is a complete solution package.""The most valuable features of Tricentis Tosca are all the test automation functionality. It is a full-scale automation tool."

Cons
"We are trying to put it into a complete CI/CD pipeline, but there are still some challenges when you try to run it through different protocols. The challenges are around how you can containerize applications. There are some limitations to some protocols, such as desktop. And when it comes to database testing, there are some things that we can't do through CI/CD.""I don't know of any features that should be added. The solution isn't lacking anything at this point.""Reporting and analysis need improvement. Compared to the old school LoadRunner Windows application, the reporting and analysis are mediocre in LoadRunner Cloud.""I would like for there to be better integration with other tools so that when you do load testing you can also do a security check.""There are three modules in the system that are different products packaged into one, and they can sometimes be difficult to figure out, so they should be better integrated with each other."

More Micro Focus LoadRunner Cloud Cons →

"The solution is expensive.""Tricentis Tosca could improve on its mobile automation solution.""There should be ease of data manipulation within automation test cases.""Tosca's reporting features could be better. Tricentis had a reporting tool called Analytics, but it didn't function properly after they reworked it. After that, they tried a new approach with key-tracing, and that didn't work.""The user management could improve in Tricentis Tosca because it is confusing. It would be better to have it in one place. Having to add it to the cloud and to a specific project can be a mess.""Many times when we have raised a ticket, we did not get an urgent response.""Primarily I'm dealing with customers looking for a cheap solution, and they are willing to try open-source automation solutions. So from this perspective, the price of Tosca is not as competitive.""The document object model or some aspects of it has a bit of a learning curve."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "There is no monthly or yearly cost but rather, the fees are based on the amount of traffic that you use."
  • "We make use of virtual user hours. We buy time in the LoadRunner Cloud. It costs around $80,000."
  • More Micro Focus LoadRunner Cloud Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "My understanding is that it's an expensive product, although I don't know the specifics with regards to pricing."
  • "I would like to see better costing packs. There are several features but USD $11,000 for one license is expensive."
  • "Tricentis Tosca is an expensive solution and there is an annual license required. The whole licensing process is confusing and it could be made easier."
  • "I'm not sure if I'm at liberty to talk about the pricing, but it has some significant costs. For example, you have to pay a license and maintenance fee. Then the rest of the terms are negotiable. We have to consider what we need and what benefit we get from it."
  • "They are probably more expensive than other comparable tools, but you also get the full suite of testing tools."
  • "Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
  • "I am satisfied with the cost."
  • "A competitor of Tricentis Tosca: Katalon Studio, is very similar and offers lower pricing, though Tricentis Tosca offers more features and benefits."

So many other tools do not recognize this specific proprietary protocol. Using TruClient, we can still create scripts that cover everything that we need to cover.”
