Cloud backups have strengthened ransomware recovery and now protect critical business data
I see several areas where Infrascale Backup & Disaster Recovery could be improved. First is the architectural design and configuration, along with operational maturity, as well as security integration. The performance of support can definitely be improved with easier on-call support features for P1 and P2 incidents. Getting quick support from the vendor during major recoveries or disasters would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, improving the strength of ransomware protections, addressing critical gaps in deployments, enforcing backup immutability policies, and making disaster recovery testing routine instead of an ad hoc process are important. Validating that I can quickly recover data should be a priority, and improved runbooks or operational maturity platforms would be beneficial for data recovery from critical incidents.

Simplifies backup, restore, and clone management across disparate applications and infrastructures
It's a simple solution to use. It's simple to configure everything that you need — configure your backups. It gives you an option to backup to the cloud or backup to on-premise, or to backup to cloud storage. For example, if a customer is running on Azure NetApp files or on something cloud-based that they want to back up, they have the option of bringing their own licensing and cloud controls and NetApp will give them the storage to back up for as long as they want. When deleting backups, the controls are very intuitive so not just anyone can delete the backups, only the administrator is able to do that. Backing up and restoring is simple. It's easy. It's one click of a button. It's quite good, I like it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The initial setup was straightforward and we received support from the manufacturer."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it is simple to use."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to boot locally, as well as in Infrascale's cloud. This means that we can either do on-site failover or failover to their cloud."
"The biggest lesson that I have learned from using this product is that we should have switched years before we did."
"The program excels at recovering files and folders, both locally and in the cloud, and their team is extremely responsive, which is crucial for service delivery."
"The recovery of data is the most valuable feature. The software backup, which is just a program that gets installed on a server, can back up to the cloud. You can install that on a server or PC, and that will simply back up a user's files and folders. If it is installed on the server, we just back up the relevant data. Recovering that, if there has been a malicious attack on a business or anything like that, has been invaluable in the past. The good features about that are obviously, if the physical hardware has a problem, then we can utilize the appliance, turn on the virtual machine, and carry on running the business while we put the hardware back and correct the issue."
"Get Infrascale and talk to their team. They will support you, and they will make you the happiest customer out there."
"The ease of use is valuable. It is user-friendly. Performing backup and recovery can be done very intuitively with the solution and the interface that is part of the solution."
"It gives you an option to back up to the cloud or back up to on-premise, or to backup to cloud storage."
"I would recommend it because it makes it simple to manage backups from Office 365."
"The most valuable feature is the simplicity in configuration and use."
"The most valuable features are the support for both NAS and NFS."
"NetApp SaaS Backup is a good product that serves multiple purposes."
"Over the time that we have used it, NetApp SaaS was a good solution and it performed well."
"NetApp SaaS Backup is a good solution and I recommend it."
"The most valuable feature is stability."

Cons

"I would like to be able to limit the bandwidth in cases, for example, where we are uploading the backup."
"There could be some room for improvement in the on-premises hardware selection. It is hard for them to deploy a lot of different hardware options. Depending on footprint size and overall capabilities, that is where there could be some flexibility in some cases. However, it is not a deal-breaker."
"When the product works, there is really nothing to fix, but they can allow different types of backups, such as differential or incremental backups."
"Today, they are not as cost-efficient as many other places, but I'm comfortable, I trust the service."
"I'm a little bit disappointed that over the last year and a half, there hasn't been too much contact from them regarding what's going to be new or coming out."
"The pricing model that they recently changed to is a little bit complicated, and the biggest area for improvement is a better way of figuring out how to price it."
"The only point of improvement I can think of for Infrascale Backup & Disaster Recovery is that the restore process could sometimes be easier to do and faster. A file-only restore or directory-only restore can sometimes take quite some time; however, a server restore goes fast."
"Having options to replicate between their data centers, once the data is offsite, would be an improvement that they could make."
"For newcomers or people who have less experience, it's a complex solution that could be simplified somewhat."
"The features need to be updated to support the latest hardware, as it changes every year."
"Better integration with third-party databases and applications is needed."
"I would like to see the graphical user interface improved to include all of the functionality because there are some things that you need to use the command-line interface for."
"There are several things that cannot be backed up as a full system, but rather only as a shared file. It isn't compatible with all applications and databases."
"There are still a few things on SharePoint that they need to correct in terms of how they backup and restore."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The appliances have different prices because of storage, size, and memory. For example, the older machines support more virtual machines, whereas the new one only supports one virtual machine. As we have purchased the later appliances, they have probably been a little bit more expensive because they have to be good enough to keep the business running if the physical server goes down. We learned our lesson from the one that went down when we tried to run products and it wasn't quick enough."
"You get unlimited clients and buy a bucket of space. In addition to the standard fees there were setup fees."
"The pricing is pretty good and competitive with the market. The per-terabyte pricing is very competitive compared to the others."
"It is super competitive. It is worth taking a look at it from a licensing and pricing perspective."
"I appreciate their pricing. We went for this solution for its pricing."
"The licensing is based on how much data you have plus what appliances you need."
"Pricing of the product could be improved. It definitely makes it a harder sell. They will usually end up getting close to the price we need, but I have to go through everybody to get the price reduced. Their list pricing is significantly higher than that of other solutions."
"The pricing is fair, and they are interested in working with MSPs as part of their market."
"My understanding of the costs is that the price is fair, and not too expensive."
"The pricing is more or less the same as what we'd get from Veeam on Office 365, so it's fine."
"The licensing was based on a three-year subscription and the price is good compared so some other vendors."
