Reliable test automation, and test data creation with efficient support
The solution can be improved by removing the need for object matching in the framework. The latest version has increased load time before testing can be run. The reason is that changes were made to how it works with the browser and the startup takes some time. Adjusting those changes to speed up the load time will improve the solution.

Robust automation with reusable steps and seamless integration
The concept of reusable steps in Zeenyx AscentialTest has significantly enhanced our test automation efficiency. Encapsulating common actions into modular steps reduces redundancy in test scripts and ensures consistency across scenarios. This approach streamlines maintenance efforts, allowing updates to be applied universally, making our test suite more agile and adaptable to evolving project requirements. The concept of reusable steps is a key factor in maximizing reusability and maintainability in our test automation strategy. AscentialTest's object recognition in snapshots is a robust feature that goes beyond standard elements, even accurately identifying objects within Datawindows. This capability ensures precise interaction with various components of an application's interface, further enhancing the reliability and effectiveness of our automated tests.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Test automation is most valuable because it saves a lot of time."
"As it is built on Ellipse/Java and costs less than other tools, it is recommended."
"IBM Rational Functional Tester is very contextual."
"The most valuable feature is the UI component tester, which analyzes the changes in UI elements and allows me to automatically adapt and change my automation testing."
"It is compatible with all sorts of Dark Net applications. Its coverage is very good."
"By automating regression test suites using this product, we were able to show time savings of more than 1200 hours in less than ONE year."
"It helps in automation by using better object recognition as compared to other tools in the market."
"The technical support is good; at least their response time is good, and whenever we ask them for help regarding deployment customizations, custom code implementation, or other code needs, they heavily support us, assign us IT engineers who work alongside us helping with code-related issues, and stay until the problem is resolved."
"The most valuable feature of AscentialTest for us is that it fully supports PowerBuilder."
"It's been really easy to automate the same applications TestComplete struggled with."
"I am a 30+ year IT professional and the level of support I have gotten has been unparalleled."
"Customer Service: Zeenyx team provides a wonderful customer support for any kind of issues we face and they worked along with us and provided solutions as early as possible too."
"Our web site is dynamically generated to each user, so much so that the only testing solution we found was AscentialTest."
"If you use the PowerBuilder application, do choose AscentialTest without thinking twice."
"I have been working with different vendors in my role, I can say without hesitation that the Zeenyx Support Staff are the best group I've worked with."
"Customer service is excellent; very helpful in addressing the issues and never hesitant in accepting the issues from their end; very responsive and quick to provide assistance."

Cons

"If you look at today's current context, I wouldn't recommend RFT because there are far more advanced solutions and products available."
"If in the future there is no support for mobile applications, then we will be using it less."
"With version 8.5 we faced workspace crash issues frequently."
"They need to do a complete revamp so that even a non-technical person can manage the tool."
"If the solution is running on Linux, there are some issues around application compatibility."
"The latest version has increased load time before testing can be run."
"The object repository used for identifying objects can be made better. It has been noticed that the RFT tool is unable to identify some objects, due to which we are unable to add them to the object repository."
"As many of our products are moving from PC to mobile, the most important thing that this solution needs is mobile app support."
"The only thing I can't wait for is for Zeenyx to add automating Mobile apps."
"The product can be improved a little bit with regards to the UI as the panels are too many."
"Classes are not as object-oriented as I would like, but I am a programmer and not QA so I expect a lot."
"Limitations are found to be primarily in the ux of the tool; for example when in doubt one often right clicks in an unfamiliar product to get unstuck, and AscentialTest lacks some of these fineries."
"It would be better if the support for Web Tables and Siebel Tables are readily available and made more simpler as they are encountered quite often while automating the apps."
"We did observe that aborting the test run of a test set in the middle of execution was taking a long time."
"The product does have limitations on how certain project files are locked (checked-out)."
"It would be great if AscentialTest supported the license server being in the cloud."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licensing is good but the prices for the products are expensive. A single-user license may go for something like $10,000 to $30,000. There are no additional costs, and support is included within that price."
"Once it starts generating ROI, which for us took between three and six months, one will not even think about the investment."
