Advanced detectors streamline threat monitoring with many use cases
Hunter support is functional yet not exceptional. Their support engineers could be more advanced and faster in providing solutions. Their turnaround time could improve to match other tools. When feedback is provided, they consider it and indicate if it is in the development stage. They commit to fixing bugs and developing the module or feature, however, take quite a lot of time. I would rate their customer support as needing improvement. Another area needing improvement is integration capabilities, as they are not yet fully compatible. Users still have to rely on third-party software or integration tools. Furthermore, they should incorporate more GenAI capabilities, a current buzzword, and enable predictive use cases. Their tools should be capable of reading the environment, making adaptations, and automatically tweaking settings as per client or environmental needs, similar to capabilities provided by other SIEM tools.

Tool consistently aids in effective threat detection and monitoring but could benefit from improved log source management and resource optimization
One major area for improvement in LogRhythm SIEM is the lack of volume measurement capability in terms of storage. There is currently no way to determine how much data is being consumed in terms of gigabytes, terabytes, or petabytes from particular devices or environments. This information is crucial for planning future storage needs and scalability. The system monitor (collector) agent has issues with resource consumption. Even when not actively collecting data, the agent continues to consume significant CPU and memory resources, which can be particularly problematic for small business environments with limited resources. LogRhythm SIEM could improve by adding more default device support. While they have good default settings for devices such as Palo Alto firewalls, custom log sources often require extensive work. Increasing the number of supported devices with built-in policies and functionality would reduce the need for custom work. Competitive SIEM tools often provide more comprehensive coverage for various devices and vendors.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Hunter proactively provides a set of five to six hundred use cases, categorized based on cloud use cases, endpoint use cases, parameter use cases, and malicious use cases."
"Other SIEM tools base their license cost on the volume of data processed, often charging by how much TB or GB data is processed. Hunter, however, charges based on the number of data sources and the number of data entities integrated, which saves money."
"LogRhythm SIEM has some valuable features, including its ability to maintain backups of events and manage alerts separately through an engine that handles content and administration tasks."
"Technical support has always been helpful."
"SOAR is integrated with the dashboard that we use for threat management. Because it's all integrated, it is useful for us when we deploy something on-prem."
"We now have a central point of monitoring for all potential threats."
"The content in the community is very helpful and useful for new users."
"In general, the visibility of events and advanced analysis of events are good."
"The major feature of this solution is its easy configuration which helps different team members to work on it effectively. This kind of feature is not available in other solutions because of a request for specialised schemes for configuration report extraction and searching. Another feature that I really admire is the significant improvement in the compliance in the auditing process by the solution. Our organisation-specific complaints require where the mailbox data needs to be forwarded, stored and searchable for a certain time period. This solution categorises data based on different types, which include cold, warm and hot data. These features allow faster and easier extraction of any data even if the event was occurring several years ago. I also like other features, especially user behaviour analysis and automation. If suddenly someone accesses your side or an unusual traffic is recorded from a user the solution flags it very effectively."
"File Integrity Monitoring is really valuable because we have it set up on our core assets. This is one of the key features that I utilize. We also use it quite a lot for event management to do reporting."

Cons

"Hunter support is functional yet not exceptional."
"Hunter support is functional yet not exceptional. Their support engineers could be more advanced and faster in providing solutions."
"When we originally got LogRhythm, their tech support was fantastic, and I loved them. Now, we don't quite get as quick of a response. I've been disappointed in the more recent tech support. When you call in, they'll say that they will get you somebody, and you'll finally get someone who will contact you back a day or so later. Whereas before, I would get help right away."
"The built-in functionality of the solution for NDR, SOAR, SIEM, and EDS has room for improvement."
"LogRhythm NextGen SIEM is currently based only on the Windows platform. This means that some of our customers have to purchase a Windows license elsewhere. If LogRhythm can move to a Linux platform or a proprietary platform, it would be very helpful."
"We've tried to work with a couple of engineering department guys there. We've called them and called them but we never hear anything back."
"Stability has probably been one area where Health Checks have not been great with the product. We have been told that they are going to improve Health Checks on product, though we do struggle with them on a daily basis."
"The security playbook could be pre-defined and available to other analysts with similar security issues."
"I would like a more fuller implementation of STIX/TAXII so I can pull in some of the government lists without having to go implement a whole new STIX/TAXII platform."
"LogRhythm's SOAR and NDR features don't stack up well against competitors. maybe integrating theme functionality as the other do. But in general, it's okay."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"NextGen SIEM's pricing is moderate."
"The product is inexpensive than other tools."
"We have seen a measurable decrease in the mean time to detect and respond to threats. As it comes out new features and new releases, the window is becoming a lot narrower because you can pivot a lot more with the data. Therefore, the new features and enhancements are reducing that."
"I would rate the pricing 4 out of 5. There are no additional costs to the standard licensing fees."
"LogRhythm's licensing is based on MPS. There are some add-on features like advanced UEBA, the cloud component for advanced UEBA, and SIEM."
"The solution has provided us with consistency and increased staff productivity through orchestrated automated work flows by at least 20 percent."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high, I rate the pricing between six and seven."
"I give the price a six out of ten."
