Offers useful replication tools with potential for faster support responses
In my opinion, the best features of Hitachi TrueCopy include its ability to act similarly to a snapshot from any disk, from any LUN, and for fast data copying from production to test. We use Hitachi TrueCopy and Thin Image. Hitachi TrueCopy allows us to transfer data from one storage to another, for example, when we buy new storage, we transfer data, LUNs, and disks from one storage to another, and we also use Hitachi TrueCopy to transfer data from one site to another site. We transfer data through iSCSI. The Hitachi TrueCopy ability to customize replication strategies is a very useful tool for replication.

Provides great data loss recovery and real time replication
Deployment was very smooth and took around two weeks. Following that, we carried out our data migration which took time. We previously used a Windows file independent server with its own local disk and Windows OS. It's not compatible with NetApp so data had to be physically migrated. We also took extra time integrating with our antivirus software and configuring external tape libraries with NetApp. We had one staff member involved in the deployment and an engineer from our partners. We have close to 900 users. The solution requires routine tasks as opposed to maintenance. We have three or four people with access to this storage.

Pros

"The best features of Hitachi TrueCopy include its ability to act similarly to a snapshot from any disk, from any LUN, and for fast copy data from production to test."
"Hitachi TrueCopy is very effective for transferring big data from one storage to another storage."
"The performance and stability are valuable features. It seems to fulfill all the requirements."
"With SnapMirror, the solution is the feature itself that is most valuable. It just replicates the data. It's very difficult to speak about, in the sense that it's similar to the features of a wheel. It is round and it's a part of an automobile."
"They have a very effective dashboard and good reports."
"The technical support is quite good."
"This solution is easy to implement and easy to use."
"Overall, the product is very good. It's an easy to use tool."
"There are a lot of features that are excellent. The data compression during the transfer, for example, is good. The replication is great. The durability of the solution and the speed of the data moving from one site to another is impressive."
"The synchronous and real-time replication are the most vital features of NetApp SnapMirror"

Cons

"Technical support is indeed an area for improvement; Hitachi has very good hardware and the equipment is good, but the support and management monitoring are not as robust as IMC, IBM, and HP."
"Technical support is indeed an area for improvement; Hitachi has very good hardware and the equipment is good, but the support and management monitoring are not as robust as IMC, IBM, and HP."
"There is probably some limitations when it comes to the scalability of the solution."
"Synchronous replication with read-write on both sides in both data centers is powerful but risky since it is greatly affected by high network latency."
"We have to do manual verifications about the subscriptions often."
"It is not as efficient as it needs to be. It doesn't compress the data really well when it is forwarded to a secondary site. The download performance could be better."
"The tool should also work on third-party solutions."
"They could make continued enhancements in integration with diverse platforms for the product."
"The user interface could be simplified. They might want to have fewer options on it, to make it less complicated. There are a lot of options we never use ourselves. They're often very specialized and don't apply to us."
"If they can make the application free like other vendors or include it in all the packages, it would be great."

"The product price is reasonable."
"The cost is low compared to different vendors."
"The solution has monthly and yearly licensing options."
