Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most important features are the intrusion prevention engine and the application visibility and control. The Snort feature in Firepower is also valuable.""If configured, Firepower provides us with application visibility and control.""The most valuable features of this solution are the integrations and IPS throughput.""The dashboard is the most important thing. It provides good visibility and makes management easy. Firepower also provides us with good application visibility and control.""It is one of the fastest solutions, if not the fastest, in the security technology space. This gives us peace of mind knowing that as soon as a new attack comes online that we will be protected in short order. From that perspective, no one really comes close now to Firepower, which is hugely valuable to us from an upcoming new attack prevention perspective.""Its Snort 3 IPS has better flexibility as far as being able to write rules. This gives me better granularity.""The most important feature is the intensive way you can troubleshoot Cisco Firepower Firewalls. You can go to the bit level to see why traffic is not handled in the correct way, and the majority of the time it's a networking issue and not a firewall issue. You can solve any problem without Cisco TAC help, because you can go very deeply under the hood to find out how traffic is flowing and whether it is not flowing as expected. That is something I have never seen with other brands.""The Firepower+ISE+AMP for endpoint integration is something that really stands it out with other vendor solutions. They have something called pxGrid and i think it is already endorsed by IETF. This allows all devices on the network to communicate."

"The only firewall able to monitor traffic from a CCTV network. Can detect unauthorized devices plugged into the network, which standard firewalls can't do.""It has been stable so far."

More Hillstone T-Series Pros →

"We consider the user level and control features of Sophos Cyberoam UTM to be the best.""The most valuable feature is the IPSec forwarding.""The most valuable feature is the solution is easy to configure for users.""Technical support is excellent.""There are plenty of features available, such as Full Guard and WAN.""The performance has been good overall.""The product, itself, doesn't seem to have any bugs or glitches.""Having a firewall solution with a data quota is very important when the bandwidth is limited, which really distinguishes it from other products."

Cons
"The Firepower FTD code is missing some old ASA firewalls codes. It's a small thing. But Firepower software isn't missing things that are essential, anymore.""The performance should be improved.""My team tells me that other solutions such as Fortinet and Palo Alto are easier to implement.""An area of improvement for this solution is the console visualization.""One feature I would like to see, that Firepower doesn't have, is email security. Perhaps in the future, Cisco will integrate Cisco Umbrella with Firepower. I don't see why we should have to pay for two separate products when both could be integrated in one box.""We're getting support but there's a big delay until we get a response from their technical team. They're in the USA and we're in Africa, so that's the difficulty. When they're in the office, they respond.""One issue with Firepower Management Center is deployment time. It takes seven to 10 minutes and that's a long time for deployment. In that amount of time, management or someone else can ask me to change something or to provide permissions, but during that time, doing so is not possible. It's a drawback with Cisco. Other vendors, like Palo Alto or Fortinet do not have this deployment time issue.""It would be great if some of the load times were faster."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons →

"They have a very good technical support team, but I think there are some communication issues due to language differences.""Licensing is not cheap."

More Hillstone T-Series Cons →

"I don't know whether this will be included in an upgrade, but I would like to get the user utility, like seeing where the users are using more of the data.""I would like to see real-time alerts on traffic insights.""While the security features are excellent, they could be improved.""It should have a better VPN client. We decided to find something different than Cyberoam because of the VPN client software. It would be nice to have a user interface not only in English but also in different languages.""I had an issue when I was trying to stop a user from using too much bandwidth while I was using Azure, I was not able to stop them.""The VPN is an area that can be improved.""The product is at its end-of-life. There is nothing to improve as it will be discontinued.""Technical support could be faster."

Hillstone’s T-Series intelligent Next-Generation Firewall (iNGFW) uses three key technologies to detect advanced attacks and provide continuous threat defense for today’s networks. First, it uses statistical clustering to detect unknown malware, leveraging the patented Hillstone Advanced Threat Detection engine (ATD). Second, it uses behavioral analytics to detect anomalous network behavior, which is based on the Hillstone Abnormal Behavior Detection engine (ABD). Finally, it leverages the Hillstone threat correlation analysis engine to correlate threat events detected by disparate engines – including ATD, ABD, Sandbox and other traditional signature-based threat detection technologies – along with context information to identify advanced threats.

Cyberoam Unified Threat Management hardware appliances offer comprehensive security to organizations, ranging from large enterprises to small and branch offices. Multiple security features integrated over a single, Layer 8 Identity-based platform make security simple, yet highly effective.
