Configuration management features improve workflow but require a steep learning curve
I need to work more with Helix Core to identify specific areas for improvement. However, it has an extensive feature set that leads to a steep learning curve, where users need to learn quite a bit of features to work with it effectively. While its customization is not an issue, the GUI might not appeal to everyone.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"GitHub's version control is valuable."
"I find the most valuable collaboration between our peers to be a seamless collaboration between our peers. We can connect and change our code, allowing us to be agile in our projects. Since we're talking about DevOps, we're using Jenkins in our pipeline. It helps speed up the process by automating the DevOps workflow."
"The most valuable features are GitHub Actions for triggering workflows, GitHub Secrets for saving credentials without needing a third-party service, and the UI for identifying errors in the code when we commit."
"The features of GitHub are very nice and helpful for developers."
"You can write the code with AI. But when it comes to implementation, you must upgrade the bits of code that will support this and generate solutions based on that architecture. Then, you need comparable code bits. Therefore, AI can propose how much a specific function can be better optimized. So, AI can help stakeholders reach tasks quicker."
"This product allows us to easily collaborate on development tasks with our subcontractors, and control the workflow as the project progresses."
"With GitHub, we can manage our development progress, CID, and continuous integration. It helps streamline our development processes effectively."
"GitHub is pure or open-source; you can access it anywhere. You can have a lot of collateral information. You can make the changes and do the reviews from one place."
"I find the configuration management features of Helix Core particularly valuable."
"The customer service and support are excellent."

Cons

"This solution could be improved if migration was fully automated to make it easy, for example, to migrate repositories into GitHub."
"The only thing I see missing in GitHub is that it isn't very user friendly for key personnel who don't have in-depth, technical knowledge. In Jira, there are many functions to upload our test cases, and in GitHub we can only do it manually. There are functions which can be used to upload different files, but that still requires some technical knowledge. A layman cannot do it."
"If we have complex branch strategies, it becomes very complicated to manage all those branches."
"The initial setup requires heavy documentation which can be challenging for new developers."
"GitHub could expand the limits of the free version."
"The initial setup and implementation could be easier, I had some difficulties with it at first but I don't have a development background."
"As of now, if I would like to learn about GitHub or its features, I would have to look on YouTube. It would be nice if they were able to send out a newsletter with explanations of new features that they are offering and what features are available."
"GitHub should provide more integration in their next release, including integrating with Jenkins, CI/CD and Jira."
"However, it has an extensive feature set that leads to a steep learning curve, where users need to learn quite a bit of features to work with it effectively."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If I consider the market standards, the product's price is pocket-friendly."
"I haven't had to pay anything for GitHub, I use the free version."
"We pay a subscription-based yearly licensing fee for the solution."
"It is open-source. There is no license for GitHub."
"You don't have to pay for a license if you are using the free version."
"The licensing model for GitHub is user-based. Whenever the new developer joins we have to get a new license and register their ID. The overall price of the solution is reasonable."
"I am using the free version of the solution. However, there are some costs my organization pays."
"We are currently paying nothing for GitHub."
